Just pure craftsmanship
Thank you Mark :)
It's a joy to see someone do it the right way...
Thank you lenny :)
love the way you leave in things like trying to use the cordless drill with no battery, or the MIG with the ground lead not connected - so familiar!!
We are all human :) we try to show that we just like you guys but have had a little more practice :)
Nice neat job again Steve 👍🏻 Fantastic transformation already 🤩
Thank you Steve :)
Great to see we still have skilled people here in England working with steel
There sre still a few of us left :)
great to see how the rebuild is progressing - fantastic workmanship
Thank you Richard :)
Surgical use of a grinder and cutting disc! As a carpenter you guys amaze me!
Great craftsmen love what you do . Thankyou for your vlog.
It's our pleasure :)
If I were your customer, I'd be so happy with this progress! It's coming nicely. I'm still shocked how badly this chassis rusted!
It is bad David :)
Can’t stop watching this channel. Loving the Porsche build.
A joy to watch.
Well worth the subscription. 👊🏻
thank you Tony and thank you for the subscription :)
Awesome as always lads
thank you Logan :)
This porsche is like my van , didn't look rusty at all until you took it apart 😅😂😅 superb workmanship Steve 👍👏🙌👍
Thank you :) 👍
Brilliant to watch your skills, you can tell you have pride in what you do.
Thank you Carol :) yes I do love my job and what I do :)
Awesome!
Thank you :)
Love it, you guys put so much care and craftsmanship into your work. I can't stand these cars but I'm sure this is going to be amazing. We'll done again, Joe
Thank you Joe :)
Excellent work 👏 👍
Thank you Ian :)
Coming together nicely this one Steve, looking forward to seeing it finished!
Thank you, yes me too :)
Great job,Steve with love to the details.👍👍👍👍
Perfect manual skills.
Greets,
Gerd from Germany
Hi Gerd and thank you :)
Fanbloodytastic work 👍👨🏻🏭
Thank you Paul :)
love the safety squint welding....
I do some of my best welding like that :)
It might be an idea to buy a decent 3 phase spot welder it would save all those plug welds and look more original. But you're doing a great job and it's looking really good.
Yup getting there.Keep up the good work. Steve
Thank you William :)
Can’t wait to see this done ! Amazing work as always !
Thank you Zain :)
Love your work!
Thank you :)
Proper Job there Steve!! NICE!!
Thank you Chaz :)
Excellent craftsmanship ❤
Thank you :) 👍
Fantastic job ycr!!
Thank you Chris :)
Enjoying this series. I'm curious if this level of rust is entirely unusual in a car of this era, in the UK? I've seen various YT videos involving rust repair on various European cars (Land Rovers, BMWs, Porsches) and the amount of rust damage is incredible to me. I would expect it from cars that live in the "Rust Belt" of North America, but why do European cars of this vintage rust so badly? Is it a total lack of rust protection from the factory?
this rust is typical on this era of car as we tend to salt the roads a lot in the UK
Nice transformation of front end😎👍
Thank you :)
when they go on about green cars, I think they miss the point, this is a green car, refurbished and back on the road, ti will have a much smaller effect on the environment than a Tozla, I noticed that you use a Warrington hammer there, lots of skilled tradesmen use tools from another trade to get a particular result, great work, very very impressive
Steve excellent work bud to the highest standard 👍🏻 what is the tune your playing it’s epic ! 👍🏻
Coming along nicely Steve, great job 👍
Thank you 👍
Steve wonderful craftsmanship as ever. Getting the bonnet to it with all those other panels must be very difficult. One question from an amateur. When you put the panels together you remove the factory applied primer is it is not a weld through primer. Should you the not replace this with weld through to prevent rust forming between the panels but I accept you will seal the panel seems with Tiger Seal.
These are structural and sometimes I'm happier with a bare metal weld :) the panels will get sealed with seam sealer :)
Always the first site I look for on my computer, Never fails to keep me hooked up! I also follow some other sites dealing with rust repair, fabrication, restoration and smash damage, Fascinating stuff but you and your family certainly put up a "smashing, how to do it right, " presentation. Take care as always, from me in Perth, Western Australia.
And from me also from Perth Western Australia
Thank you guys. We really do appreciate the support and the encouragement :)
Smashed the like button before even watching the video...!
Haha thank you :)
Hi Steve you make it look easy could you tell me are you using weld through primer and if so which one thanks
hi Kevin the weld trough primer we use is just a generic one :)
Nice! coming together now, 😎👍
Slowly but surly :)
Superb as ever guys , and those subscriber numbers - wow
Thank you Colin :) yes numbers and climbing :)
Better than watching Miguel Angelo paint that church cieling. Great workers, not many left,
Haha yes a lot of people I used to know who do this have retired and not passed skills onto others.
When you had the front inner fenders installed, why did you cut them and reweld? Around 7:50 thru 10:15.
Doing a customers RS Escort atm - front to back metalwork - and allegedly, we have complete sills & complete rear arch panels coming for it tomorrow...as opposed to the usual craic of me having to make everything from scratch. That sprang to mind as I watched you welding in lovely new shiny repair sections. :-) The sheer luxury.. We'll get spoilt Steve... :-)
Was slightly put-off by the Panel-Monger going "They're a crap fit, J - they're the best on the market but they're still naff... I'm not standing over them going onto an RS properly - they never fit those... We can't get anything better either..." Hmm.. maybe the hope of Posh Shinyness could be short lived once I offer them up... We could be fabricating yet.. :-)
I had the same experience today doing the E24. Pre fabricated sills sections were supplied with the car. Had to reposition two of the bends so they matched the profile of the car, could have prolly made some myself from scratch quicker James. Haha.
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Same with the RS ones it turned out - didn't fit. I had to change them so much I binned off loads & made those sections from sheet. Was less hassle. Arch sections fitted after I explained better to them with a hammer on the anvil. I chucked their lower quarter sections in the bin & used sheet. Making the damn things was easier than trying to baby non-fitting stuff into shape.
@@jamesward5721 😁👍
BTW - B&Q do 120cm lengths of 1mm 25 * 25mm angle that's got punched holes all along it - it's the handiest stuff I have ever come across for loads of spots where you need an easily welded bit of 90' angle - they also do 2.4m lengths - I'm getting a couple of them next time I'm in - it's ideal for joining floors to sills blah blah - plus 1001 other places where you need a joining seam. Dead handy.
Great work as always Steve 👍👍keep up the great work
Thank you as ever Lee :)
Hmmm I don't know what to praise, the good work that looks so simple. Or the cool selection of music. My only criticism is the length. Min 30 minutes!!!!!!!!Otherwise no more tea.
😊
Haha we are trying to make longer videos as they are in demand but they are very time consuming to edit :)
Nice
nothing like a liverpool screwdriver for fine tuning panel gaps ??
Got to use a heavy one as well :)
When I win the lottery I'll be sending my 76 Lancia Fulvia here for restoration.
We would be happy to restor it and we are not exspensive :)
Very nice and good progress. If it's not to much to ask i have one question as i'm restoring a 76 targa as well (backdated) do you have a picture or video how the speaker wire is routed on the right side (steering wheel) door into the pillar? My car came as a project and all wiring was already out so a bit of a puzzle and i can't seem to find the place where it feeds into the car. Thanks and keep up the nice work and video's :)
Hi sorry I can't remember but I'll check for you when we reassemble :)
Looks toast to me...video ends ;)
It will be good again :)
Amazing craftsmanship
Thank you Nigel :)
Great video 👍It shows anyone what is involved in replacing structural part's of car etc.
Yes more than people think :)
Loving this channel 👍do you ever use a spot welder just thinking it would save some time on the bits you could get at with one
Thank you :) mostly we try to show how to do it yourself with simple tools at home, but not everyone has a spot welder :)
You are doing an amazing job but you need to protect your eyes. You can't cut and weld a pair of eyes. Safety first.
I have glasses on and forget to change them :)
I feel elevated.
Haha
Beautiful work, Steve
Thank you :) 👍
you are a very talented man, excellent work. but i would sack you if you worked for me. for not using your welding helmet and not wearing safety glasses. you only get one pair of eyes please protect them.
Thank you for your input.
Hiya Steve great video as always fabulous work on the porker coming along nicely well done ycr keep up the amazing work ♥️👍
Thank you Dean :)
Cant wait for the next video .
Coming soon :)
Fantastic. Evening from Germany. Sent a link on your 6 series to my mate has trust in exactly the same areas on the 6 he is restoring 👌👌
Hi hope it helps :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration he is getting a bodyshop to do it as he is not that skilled but they ares doing exactly the same sort of thing as you 👌👌
Nice job Steve.....why do u slice the grinder along where u are going to weld ...is the butted gap too small for a good weld? Thanks
Hi David. Yes the gap needs to be the thickness of a cutting disk or about 1mm otherwise when the welds stretches it would warp the panel. :)
Yes Steve you can do it 👌. 🙌😉🏋️♀️
Haha thank you Emmanuel :)
I wish to have a drill that doesn't use battery to. 😂😂
Maybe a future invention :)
For shure
Nice work as always. Is the top corner piece of the front latch pannel coming later? You’ll need those to fit the fenders properly with the hood. Cheers from Canada
I don't know as Iv been supplied all the parts by the customer but I'll find out soon enough :)
77 years after the bombs stopped falling and Porsche body panels still don't line up.
Maybe they just need help :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Yes, some TLC. It is a shame cars have it so rough in the UK. Rust like this is the main reason we don't touch northern cars without an inspection. Water and salt.
Cut and butt. When I try that it always ends up a 3 foot long gap to weld up in a line as straight as the river nile 😂 top work Steve.
Best way is to tack the on lapped then cut through both at once :)
Nice job, enjoying this one, do you do paint work as well?
Hi glad your enjoying it. Yes we also paint :)
I got you a job at the Porsche factory Steve, you start Monday. You're welcome!
Haha don't think they would approve of my nodding them hHa
Yeah but any car that doesn’t have pop up headlights really cannot be worth all this effort.
haha i think you may be biased :)
😮
😁👍
the work of a goldsmith.
Haha thank you Leo :)
Good to know I’m not the only one who tries to operate cordless tools without a battery
Could understand why it wasn't working :)
All those plug welds must have driven you half barmy. Look forward to seeing the job with a coat of primer. Regards.
Yes there was a lot :)
Fortunate the after market panels are available, would have been a royal pain
Yes would have taken years instead of months :)
Get your welding mask on steve.only one pair of eyes.eye lids shut aren't really good enough
I'm forgetful Andrew :)
Might help if you talked about what you are doing and why. 😒
Thank you for your input
Awesome work, but watching all this grindin with nothing on the ears makes my ears bleed😮
I'm really hoping that Betteridge's law doesn't apply here....
Fortunately betteridges law is aimed at journalists, and that I am not. I'm just a vehicle restorer who trys to make entertaining and informative videos to help people keep classic cars on the road :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Cheers for the reply. Love all the work you do.
@@richardwhitfield1078 thank you. We appreciate the support :)
love the video, hate the music... same tune over and over again, i have to stop the video several times because of the music..
I never thought cutting and welding was so relaxing, where do you get the music from too
Love the music choice on your channel as well as the body work you do
Thank you Michael, we listen to our viewers and what they want. :)
почему они у вас ржавеют так же как в россии?
