I have been trying for over an hour to get the 2nd side of the zipper to go into the zipper pull track, but it won’t go through. I am so frustrated! What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for commenting. You can try the Gypsy Zipper Jig which we find is really helpful when there's no fabric extension. You can find it here: sallietomato.com/products/gypsy-quilter-zipper-jig
Hi Sallie, thank you for your very helpful tutorial, however, I am managing to get the zipper pulls on reasonably easily but I find that the second side does not always end up being even and I have to start again. Do you have any hints and tips for this please? Also, can I apply all the zipper pulls at one time to a continuous tape and just pull one up as required without causing any issues to the zip?? Many thanks for any input re this. Moira
I tried SO many times to attach the zipper pull, but after watching your video I was able to do it on the first try. Thank you so much for the clear directions!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this video!! I purchased a kit from you and my son accidentally pulled off the pull from the zipper tape😮 I thought it was ruined until I found this video. Thanks again, Jess!!🎉
You are an absolute life saver, I was screaming with frustration the other night as I could NOT get it threaded, it was impossible!! I would say though to cut the zip a bit bigger than what you need in case there is a slight misalignment from this method of threading.
Thank you. I was able to use this to put the Pull back on a golf bag (which have many zippers). Since I had to work with the existing zipper (not a raw zipper tape), the challenge are all these loose fibers clogging the zipper. Cutting it like you said helped. I superglued the install side of the locked zipper to keep the Pull from reaching that end and coming off.
Thank you so much for helping to add the pull. I was making it so hard and was ready to give up. I walked away and then went back to video and put 2 pulls on in just a couple minutes. 😄😄😄
Hey kinda off topic but I got 10 meters of white zipper and I want it to be a different colour. According to you, do you think I can use some good fabric paint and paint that white part around the zip in my desired colour 😅? Will that be a good idea?
Best tip out there! Just one question, does it matter what side of the zipper track to add the pull? My zipper tape has a slight "V" shape to them, so they have a bit of directionality ... Thanks again for your excellent video!!!
The zippers from Sallie Tomato can go either way-check to see if the zipper tape you have has the ability to be a double zipper-meaning two zipper pulls would meet in the middle and then pull to each side (like on our Casey or Hamilton bag)
Add do leather work, pouches, clutches have put zippers in with leftover zipper material. Now all I need is a pull and I’m back in business. Thanks for video😅😅
Great question! The size of the zipper is determined by the width of the coil in millimeters. For example, size #5 is a 5mm wide coil. Please let us know if you have any further questions. :)
Thanks for your question! The beauty of the Sallie Tomato Zippers-by-the-Yard and our Zipper Pulls is that you can put the zipper pulls on from either end of the zipper tape.
So I can get the pull on, but it doesn’t close the zipper. It just runs up and down the zipper, but doesn’t lock the teeth closing the zipper. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for asking your question. You may have us baffled on this one. Without seeing photos or a video clip, it's hard to say what might be happening. There might be a few things to check: are the zipper teeth or coils damaged in any way? is the zipper pull damaged? is the zipper pull the correct size and brand for the zipper tape? have you tried the same zipper pull on a different zipper tape, or a different pull on the same zipper tape. You're certainly welcome to contact us at info@sallietomato.com for further assistance. Thank you!

Hi I’ve been given a zipper roll ( plastic teeth) without the sliders. How can I tell what size slider it takes?
Great question! The size of the zipper is determined by the width of the coil in millimeters. For example, size #5 is a 5mm wide coil. Please let us know if you have any further questions. :)
What they all said! TYVM!

Why is my zipper not joining together once the zipper closer is put on
Your zipper should join together easily.
why does it look so easy and the zipper slips on their so see in the video but when I do it IT DOESN'T and I struggle????
