Hey kayla love your channel but i was wondering if you could put a disclaimer on videos like these so people who are new to fish-keeping dont get confused like : this may not work for every fish/ and remind people their are many other ways to treat these things and to make their own decisions and research. I say this because ive seen on other channels people are quick to blame and yell at people when you do things a certain way/ when things go wrong or unexpectedly.
You could put some catappa leaves in his hospital tank these are anti septic, anti bacterial good for the cellregulation good for the ph and lots of other things. Fish love it!
Nico Neußner very true! When the ph lowers enough, most bacteria can’t survive it. I have my female betta fish in a 10g blackwater aquarium. She’s very bright and happy.
@@taniaabby2027 the inside of a pea is perfectly fine for a betta. Its like a laxative for them and clears their system which takes pressure off their swim bladder which sometimes cures a swim bladder infection.
@@johnniewhite15 maybe you just had high nitrates in the tank or your tank wasn't big enough. Bettas need 5 gallons at least so maybe that was the issue? 1 pea generally won't fix it. I use about 3 deshelled peas a day for 5 days until the problem is solved and after 5 days I use Epsom salt if its not resolved
Just wondering if that appears that his belly is sunk in. It’s hard to tell but he may have internal parasites. ? Not sure but General Cure helps that. Hope things get better for the fish and you.
this is one reason these videos are bothering me 1st she assumes its swim bladder and she also assumes its from over feeding shes also following directions from another comment on the last video so shes kinda just flying blind if its a parasite or a bacterial infection she is not going about it the right way also if the fish had a birth defect the SBD at that point is not curable so people pleas first diagnose the cause of the swim bladder first then treat according to the cause
When you do feed him, don't feed him normal betta food, but instead feed him a very small chunk of the inside of a pea, the pea will act as a laxative and will help him expell any build up of waste, that is tapped inside of his abdomen, when my betta fish was struggling from a swim blater infection I did this and it worked with in 24 hours
@@cosmic_aster are you sure, I have used peas on multiple bettas to cure bloat and swim blater issues, I have also heard of many other people having success with using peas, but if daphnia does the same thing then I guess it would be a good alternative.
@@eeemoose3494 peas probably *do* work, but there's a risk of causing further damage. I use daphnia with my own betta and I can confirm it definitely helps them poop 😂
I just wanted to say you are awesome. Not many people would go as far as giving the fish a bath to make them feel better. Most people would just stand by and watch them die. And these kind of videos restore my faith in humanity. Thank you for caring
iv herd several fish breeders now say that the form and health of the glowfish arent good.. the company is breading horable lines ...no care put into selection for the health of the line...
Aquarius we walked around petco yesterday to kill some time- every one of the glofish bettas was sickly looking. Nearly all of the bettas were half dead that they had in stock. It’s pretty sad.
I really hope Lucky is ok! I haven’t watched it all the way through but he is a special little fish :( let’s just hope for the best to come out and for him to be a happy betta! He definitely has had the best owner he could since you rescued him, I am very grateful there are people like you out there who care so much ☺️
I wish Lucky a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing this with us. I did try this with my bettas after research and unfortunately my bettas didn't survive. But I hope your little guy does make a full recovery. At least you know you did everything to help him . He probably wouldn't have lasted this long if he was still at the store. Will be thinking of Lucky and will give him lots of healing prayers. And fish love. ❤🤗🙏🐠
@@jammindragon1812 oh I know. I already tried this but it didn't work, that's why I did the Epsom salt treatment but it also didn't work and unfortunately it all didn't help and eventually they died. 😒☹
I know you’re allergic to Indian almond leaves but if you make a tea out of Indian almond leaves, let it cool add stress coat to it. It’ll help with his fins and hopefully it’ll help him poop too since tannins are really good for Betta fish. Just do a 1/4 of a cup.
I was told to put fresh water aquarium salt in my tanks to help the swim bladder problem. You can put a small amount in your fish tank every time you clean it to help prevent several diseases.
I’m looking into really getting into fish keeping. How do I know what to look for in a sick fish? Once I know what I’m doing I’d love to save some however since I’m brand new I don’t want to hurt him/her more. What should I look for to know he/she is heathy at the store?
Check their fins, gills, eyes. If their find look jagged or rough instead of smooth. Eyes should be clear not cloudy. Their abdomen should be a normal looking size, bot too small or too large and bloated looking. Their gills shouldn't be discolored or inflamed looking. Make sure the fish isnt struggeling to breathe or taking deep breaths. Make sure they look comfortable.also sick or distressed fish will be dull in color as well. Make sure theres no spots on the fishes body. White, black or red spots can Indictate ick or other types of fungal and parasites.
Theres many more other things I could name but those are some things to look for. Also.. if the fish is swimming around curiously that's usually a good sign... if the fish is just sitting in a corner.. or floating onto its side... etc... those are bad indicators as well. They have fish antibiotics out there that can treat fish diseases and infections. They are quite easy to use, effw tive and safe. The hardest part if diagnosing what your fish has and buying the proper treatment. Research research research and join an aquarium/fish people forum.
FISH VITAMINS!!! I got my betta from pet smart and he was very sick and had virtually no tail. I soaked his food in vita chem daily and also put it in his water after water changes and it was a complete miracle! One day after he already had more color and within a month his tail was almost completely healed!
Do you have any Indian Almond leaves around? It might help in disinfecting the fin rot. You might want to add some for a while and when he's fine you can take it away if you don't like black water.
I love your channel! Keep making videos. Lucky is so beautiful. I have had a betta but saddliy he passed away after 3 years. I am hoping to get another one soon...
How much did you pay for that beta I saw a glow beta like this and ended up getting half off but They told me that they treated swim bladder but if they did then why was she still on sale and not being treated
I commented on another video of yours about how I work at petsmart and got a glo betta as soon as we got them, and the blue in his eyes isn't because he's visually inspired. Mine has it too, its just because of the way they were genetically bred, and they were actually bred with jellyfish DNA which makes them glow under blacklight :) I really hope Lucky gets better!
There is another channel where the girls glo beta is mostly blind. Not sure I'm supposed to say the name but.....Creative Pet Keeping. But since yours is having problems seeing also, I'm wondering if this is some kind of genetic issue where they've been genetically modified?
You can get antibiotics or whatever ... online or at a pet store for pretty cheap. They do indeed work. Just do your research online for the type you need for whatever ailment your fish has. It's safe as well.
I bought a beautiful half-moon betta from petsmart with swim bladder just a couple weeks ago, I was determined to help him get better, I did everything I could and eventually peas saved the day! Gealach is alive and well and very spoiled in his furnished 10 gallon tank! :)
If you have tank water -you could put that in the bath bc it is already dechlorinated/heated/and the PH would be the same so its not a shock.-Hope Lucky made it!
Out of the topic here but how can I catch my fish with my met because I did catch it but I felt vibrations and I immediately put my fish back in his tank and now kk afraid to do it
I was kind of surprised when you talked about how important everything measured is in the salt baths, I’ve been doing these for so long I forgot some people have never had to do it
I've heard that it's one of the most effective laxatives for fish. I'm not sure if it can cause physical discomfort or not. Unfortunately, a lot of modern fish care parallels the medical field for humans in the 1800s... A lot of odd treatments, old traditions, guess work and unintentionally harmful "cures" are given. At this point, it's all that we know. All we can do is test, learn, discover new information and do our best to help our little scaled buddies.. It's scary, isn't it?

Well how I tested my sick males sight was put a female floating in clear cup once she started trying to get to him and his reaction was nothing and he hit the cup once after running into ut and swam away the reason why i knew this was wierd was because they were attempted mates and they liked going after each other a lot also color did seriously show in his origianl black eye like it was black then once he was sick his eye turned a bright orange and blue
