You should grind money and buy a bunch of Abra's at the game corner. You can get a box full of them and check all at once. It is the fastest shiny you can get in Fire Red and Leaf Green
Love your video. However, if you use wii consoles next, you'll need to use ones with the pokemon software already on it. Do to the eshop closing on 3ds wii and wii u on March 1st, 2023. So don't know if it's doable. I hope you can!! It would be sweet

when i got to the part of you talking about the controller to use I was thinking i was a genius for thinking about the wavebird. then you chose it as the controller, and i was like “HELL yeah” excellent video my man, keep up the good work professor.
While wavebirds are actually super common for use by shiny hunters today back in 2019 we were actually the second documented shiny hunters to use the strategy. The first being TotemRotom for a shiny Miltank in Pokémon Colosseum. When you see it being used today it’s because of his ingenuity and our popularization!

By the end of the recording day the sandwich had started to smell. I hard boiled the eggs the day before and left them out over night so as funny as it might’ve been, it didn’t seem like a good idea to have anyone eat it

The fact that the very first shiny y'all found ended up evolving into a 3 segment Dudunsparce just goes to show how big of a factor RNG was here, haha. Even if you had a tool in FRLG that would get you 512 odds, it still wouldn't be as powerful as the sandwich in S/V - and that is solely because you're viewing an open world with overworld shiny spawns. Your 16 Cubes essentially constitute a single sandwich boosted spawn, but you're not seeing one, you're often times seeing a dozen or more at one moment. The single 512 spawn in FRLG (across the 16 cubes) takes so much longer (8 seconds minimum) then one simple glance. I liked the video and the show and tell of the set-up, but was it worthwhile and a shocking conclusion? No, not really. Sorry?
@@Locormus2 the GameCubes got lucky if you just look at the number of shinys they got in the time of the race. 3 shinys in 11k encounters is actually pretty crazy since the odds of one is 1/8192
Homebrew can be used to boot into the GBA on the gamecube with improved visuals rather than needing the overly expensive and not great software of the boot disk.
@@WindsorMason sure, but by the time you’re home brewing things there’s a million other things that could be done. I’m just happy to have it all setup with official hardware

For each set of interactions with 16 Pokémon on the GBA carts, that would be the same odds as seeing one Pokemon with Mass Outbreak Rate and Lv. 3 Sparkling Power Sandwich. I say these odds are actually closer and the GameCube setup is fast because the groupings of 5+ Pokemon on Scarlet equates to 80 interactions on the GameCubes or 5 iterations of 16 interactions.
I’ve never played Scarlet & Violet before, so when I saw him pull out a sandwich out of nowhere, I was completely confused like, "What the hell does a sandwich have to do with shiny hunting?" I bet some people who got asked about it at the mall felt the same way 😂

I'm a Shiny hunter in Pokémon GO. There are still a few of the og 151 Pokémon that I still don't have after playing every day since 2018. And it's not even the rare Pokémon. I'm still missing Oddish, bellsprout, paras, and exeggcute. It's a grind and I don't know why I do it lol. My most favorite shiny I got is a Shiny Ditto, it was an April fools day and only an hour or 2 that day ditto appeared more often. It's my prize Pokémon next to my 100%IV mewtwo I got in a lucky trade yes he is also a freaking lucky. The only thing that would make it better is if it was Shiny.
Pokemon peaks every time you bring us content and I won't hear otherwise. If I win the lottery, I will be funding your research with millions of dollars in research grants. Please never stop.
@@ProfessorRex Can $10,000 dollars of GameCubes beat a Nintendo switch! A Nintendo Switch is worth more than $10,000 dollars Stuff like that. Might be worth looking over some Mr Beast titles or similar viral videos titles to help with that sort of thing. I'm no expert but I've actually seen this in the chess world where "click bait" titles that aren't super off get way more clicks that straightforward ones. Take what you hear from a random guy on the internet with a grain of salt but worth doing some research on channels with view count similar to what you want to see.
@@ProfessorRex interesting. I use 10k because it's a nice round number. That can certainly play a factor. In the end it's a great peice of content. If you're willing to put the kind of work in to UA-cam that you do into shiny hunting you will have a ton of viral videos to come
great video, i watched it a while ago and i love how you proved that m*lti "hunting" is ineffective. i hope this excellent video helps end m*lti "hunting" for good.
I think it makes sense, technically since Pokemon spawn in the over world you should be running into more than 16 encounters in the time it takes to run from the 16 from the GameCubes theoretically.
One thing though is each generation has their own shiny encounter percentage . Plus there’s the shiny charm after completing the Pokédex in some games to increase the chance of encountering a shiny.
It’s a product of encounters * rate/encounter. The rate for GB games being 8x what it is with a shiny sandwich means you need 8 consoles just to match the base rates. But in modern games you’ll see over a dozen spawns on screen at once, so if you allow your screen to populate you’re at 96x consoles base odds with a shiny sandwich.
The reason the game boy player startup disc is more expensive than the hardware is bc the hardware is not region locked (so Japanese ones work) but the startup disc is.
I would still argue that more players are around than discs. Go to almost any used game store and they will have many more physical players than discs. They have stock based on what people trade in. I think most just lost their discs.
10:50, obviously the sandwich because the GameCube just multiplies the amount of encounters, but in scarlet violet you can already see a dozen pokemon at the same time and tell if they are shiny and have the increased odds from sandwich

I'm a Shiny hunter in Pokémon GO. There are still a few of the og 151 Pokémon that I still don't have after playing every day since 2018. And it's not even the rare Pokémon. I'm still missing Oddish, bellsprout, paras, and exeggcute. It's a grind and I don't know why I do it lol. My most favorite shiny I got is a Shiny Ditto, it was an April fools day and only an hour or 2 that day ditto appeared more often. It's my prize Pokémon next to my 100%IV mewtwo I got in a lucky trade yes he is also a freaking lucky. The only thing that would make it better is if it was Shiny.

Stuff like that. Might be worth looking over some Mr Beast titles or similar viral videos titles to help with that sort of thing. I'm no expert but I've actually seen this in the chess world where "click bait" titles that aren't super off get way more clicks that straightforward ones. Take what you hear from a random guy on the internet with a grain of salt but worth doing some research on channels with view count similar to what you want to see.

@@ProfessorRex interesting. I use 10k because it's a nice round number. That can certainly play a factor. In the end it's a great peice of content. If you're willing to put the kind of work in to UA-cam that you do into shiny hunting you will have a ton of viral videos to come

I think it makes sense, technically since Pokemon spawn in the over world you should be running into more than 16 encounters in the time it takes to run from the 16 from the GameCubes theoretically.
Wireless adaptor on a Wide-Boy64 and NR Reader on a Panasonic Q GBP made me happy.

One thing though is each generation has their own shiny encounter percentage . Plus there’s the shiny charm after completing the Pokédex in some games to increase the chance of encountering a shiny.

It’s a product of encounters * rate/encounter. The rate for GB games being 8x what it is with a shiny sandwich means you need 8 consoles just to match the base rates. But in modern games you’ll see over a dozen spawns on screen at once, so if you allow your screen to populate you’re at 96x consoles base odds with a shiny sandwich.

The reason the game boy player startup disc is more expensive than the hardware is bc the hardware is not region locked (so Japanese ones work) but the startup disc is.
I would still argue that more players are around than discs. Go to almost any used game store and they will have many more physical players than discs. They have stock based on what people trade in. I think most just lost their discs.
10:50, obviously the sandwich because the GameCube just multiplies the amount of encounters, but in scarlet violet you can already see a dozen pokemon at the same time and tell if they are shiny and have the increased odds from sandwich
