That was a beautiful video, I’ve personally struggled with very bad thoughts I’d rather not touch on in a UA-cam comment section but truly, Pokémon brings so many people together, I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have Pokémon and the people I’ve befriended through it, I’m not sure if I’d even be here today. Thanks for giving us this perspective on the life of a master baiter.
One of the reasons I had wanted to make this video is because I had hoped that others would be able to see themselves in my story. So many of us were in some way saved by Pokémon
Opening up like you did, really puts into perspective all the bs that pushes me over the edge and instead of soaking in my sadness I want to be the older brother my brothers deserve. Seeing someone else go through the motion and make it the other side, gives me hope.
The best thing you can do as an older brother is love and support your siblings. It can be a lot of pressure trying to be a role model. So don’t stress on it, live as the truest version of yourself. Lead by example by pursuing your passions
The part about the medication really hits home for me... I lost a lot of memory and reactive skills after medication rotted my brain for a little over 3 years. I feel a lot of happiness knowing I'm not alone in this. Thank you for sharing this video, Rex! Also, congrats on 10k. You earned it!
As someone who has been on almost every SSRI, I relate to that so much. Not to be "that guy" but I would feel awful if I didn't share. I went through a round of transcranial magnetic therapy this year and it changed/saved my life. My anxiety is hardly there (as someone who couldn't leave my house before). I 100% recommend everyone who has gone through the ringer with meds to look into it to see if it could help them. It's not some snake oil thing, but backed with studies and physically changes your brain. For the first time, the words in my brain no longer feel like screams. I'm happy to answer any questions if anyone has any ❤️
Just know you aren't alone. You have us. It's easy to give into the doubt, but you have a big video on your name now. You have an audience. There may be 11.2K of us, but that doesn't make you lesser than a youtuber with 1 million subscribers. The audience you have genuinely cares about you and enjoys you. Your audience is some of the most potent and loyal there is. I can't wait to see more join into this community.
Being born in 1990, I'll never forget when my friend showed me pokemon red and let me borrow it. Then getting yellow, gold and crystal. I couldn't wait to get home to play. And of course when I finally pulled a base set Charizard that nobody had! Good times. And also from Toronto! From North York. Love the story man 👍
Thank you!! If you ever play Pokémon Go you should go down to the city for a community day some time. The Eaton center is full of Pokémon fans! You could also go spectate the Pokémon regionals at the Enercare center this weekend!
Thank you for sharing this personal story, Im glad to see what Pokémon has ment for you and thankfull that it brought us together 😊 Cant wait to meet see you again in Yokohama! 🧡🧡🧡
watching this video made me realise that our elemtary school experiences were some what similar (except that I live in Germany and had realy bad teachers) now I managedged to turn It around when I got into Middle school (grade 5 overhere) I made many new friends and didnt get bullied anymore for beeing diffent than the others and also gifted. Now 14 I have the problem off not having enough freetime because of school but I have realy good marks now( Im luckily finished with assingement and exams for this schoolyear now). Btw your Gamecube Video made me find your channel even showed it to a friend we both realy enjoyed it.
Rex, When I first discovered your streams in 2020, I was going through it. It was the start of COVID, I was failing all of my classes at university, far away from my family who lived on the other side of the country. I felt isolated, guilty for not trying harder in school, and overwhelmingly anxious. But shiny hunting alongside you and Tops was one of the things that helped me get through the hardest time in my life. It gave me a hobby, something to look forward to, and people to talk to. So finding out now that you went through something similar, and then that you were able to help others like me ... I think that's kinda profound, right? Keep doing what you're doing as long as it gives you joy. We're all proud of you. Glad I can say I knew you when :) - "Jakus"
Jakus, I’ve read this comment a few times now and it’s made me tear up every single time. Honestly there was a message I got early into my stream career where someone told me that my stream made them feel less alone. That was all I ever needed. If my streams can help even one person I’ve done all I could ever ask for. I love y’all and I hope things keep getting better for you. Life gets hard but I promise that if you look for them, there are better days ahead
Thanks for telling your story bro. A lot of what you touched on is super relatable to many people in the community an It's always great to see people open up and being vulnerable while telling their story. Mad respect to you, congrats on 10,000 subs! Can't wait to see what the future holds for you!
Thanks for making this. It motivated me to get a little more done today. There's a surprisingly large amount of experiences we share and Pokemon has been a big driving force to continue on for me. I'm sure this wasn't easy to make but it truly made my day better.
Thank you for this video. I suffered severe depression, social anxiety and panic attacks throughout my life. And allthough I just rediscovered Pokemon a few weeks ago as a 34 year old adult, I somehow can relate to you. Pokemon, its community as well as your journey give me strength to carry on.
Great video dude, thanks for sharing that all with us. So glad our paths crossed in Seattle. Pokemon is and has always been about bringing people together. Hit me up if you're ever near my neck of the woods!
wow I swear when I subbed this morning you weren't at 10k, anyhow im happy to be here and thanks for sharing your story with us isnt it amazing when we can find happiness in being ourselves
This was nice. Your research focused vods about the Chancey stat and the Unknown on Gen3 is what i found your channel. But the Sandwich vs a lot of gamecubes was hilarious. What a story to lead up to the dude in a labcoat that i really respect and enjoy to watch.
Thank you for being so open, I can’t imagine how tough this video must have been to make. It’s so beautiful seeing how Pokémon has always kept you going. I’m so glad you’ve made it where you have now, and I’m excited to see the future of the brofessors lab and professor professor Rex.
AH this brings back memories of how you would record in the old days before all the fancy stuff we have now and getting a gamecube and everything needed for under $20 is amazing and regardless of how you go about it as long as you enjoyed what you were doing then more power to you bro honestly i understand how you feel i was the same in school and growing up on pokemon changed my life it made me find friends like yourself who i could be myself around and not feel judged for being a massive pokemon nerd and i am grateful to have met you keep doing what your doing Rex we have your back bro! And funny enough my first smart phone was also a HTC what are the odds of that :)
This was such a heartwarming video, I fully understand the trials and tribulations you have gone through because I have gone/currently going through a lot of similar ones. I found you through Jacobrobert0 and have had a blast quietly watching you grow throughout the past few years. You're the kind of person that gives me hope that I will be able to leap out my shell and do something with my life that is meaningful. That I will be able to make friends with people that have like minded interests as me. Keep up the great work, 10k is no small feat. you worked super hard to get here and im sure you will keep on growing. Long story short. good work man you're freaking amazing! -Lachnessmonster

Absolutely loved this video, my friend. Absolutely blessed to know you, and even more to have gotten to live it up with you in Vegas. Hoenn tour was one of the best of my life and I have you to thank for that. Thank you for not only showing me the support you deserve. Here's to 10,000 more.
I love your videos, they have the most attention to detail and soul i've ever seen in any channel. Hoping the best for you, and cant wait for your next upload!
Thank you for making this video Professor Rex. While I can’t say that I’ve had the same struggles, Pokémon has helped me in many ways as well. It has allowed me to make more friends, and I am so grateful for that. I can’t wait to see what’s next. And congratulations on 10,000!
Just discovered your channel from the 16 x GameCube video. Your story is inspiring and I hope this is just the beginning of your success whatever goals you set yourself
funny enough, the gamecube vs switch shiny video is now your 2nd most viewed video every and youre continuously growing to the point that in less then 2 years, youll probably break through the 100k sub barrier
This is such a wonderful video. I’m so happy you’re doing better. I recently decided to stop taking Lexapro/Escitalopram after taking it for nearly 5 years because I realized that apathy was a side effect thanks to an Alpharad Deluxe video of all things, which hit me like a truck because I thought I had changed from being a very sensitive and responsive person to being indifferent to other’s emotions and cold, as well as feeling unable to feel deeply. It was like my emotional state had been truncated on both ends. I had a moment where I broke down and cried about a loss I hadn’t grieved properly years ago. I feel for you, and I wish you the best of luck, I’ll be watching your videos :)
Damn I was really feeling depressed today but I recently found your channel through a UA-cam short (shiny hunting GameCube vs sandwich) . I finished uni 3 years ago and have been feeling lost and depressed but man watching this video of yours made me feel nostalgic about my own childhood, but through your video I learned I can still enjoy Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh or any other nerdy thing that I liked as a kid, I can enjoy as an adult. Idk why I was in such a hurry to grow up. Your video gave me a better perspective on life and I really needed it. I subscribed!

love you dude. you deserve everything youve gaind from all your hard work, youre an insperation and an all out great guy. never forget that you are the one and only proffesor rex, researcher of bait strats.
It takes a lot of courage to be able to make a public video that was as personal as this. What an incredible journey and you definitely deserve 10k subs! Can’t wait to see where you go from here!
Thank you 💜💙 I appreciate you taking 30 minutes of your day to watch through the story. My biggest hope is that it makes others feel seen because I’m sure many of us have taken similar journeys to end up here we are
Thank you for sharing your story. Pokemon is truly an amazing franchise and the community is like no other. I look forward to continuing to witness your channel grow!
Absolutely incredible video Rex! I'm so proud of how far you've come, and I'm so happy to have been the one who helped you start up your wild multihunting escapades, it's seriously so surreal lol. I absolutely CANNOT wait to go to Japan with you and everyone in a month from now! Let's keep on going and making more amazing memories together!
I just finished my first year at university and much like you, I became one of the leaders in our university's Pokémon society (I mean I'm the treasurer and I won't technically start until next year) but watching you talk about all your friends and experiences throughout your life made me realize that I'm probably in the best place I've ever been, and hopefully the friendships I have made this year and hopefully will make in the next couple of years, will last me for the rest of my life. I am excited for what is to come, and I wish you the best in your life as well! Gonna definitely check out your other videos because the ones I've seen so far are right up my alley!
I have all the faith in the world that you are going to have such a blast being part of the Pokémon society! Being surrounded by like minded people all in the same age range isn’t something to take for granted so cherish it

Congrats on 10K man. You're videos are high enough quality that I've actually always assumed you were a lot bigger of a youtuber so I'm sure you'll continue to grow if that's what you choose to do. Even though it was brief I'm glad I was able to be one of the many people you've encountered on your journey and I hope we might be able to meet again someday. I'll continue to stay tuned👍
This was such a touching video. I'm so excited for you to see where you go. This is just the beginning my friend and you have so much in front of you. You have gone through so much and because of that, you can rely on the fact you can make it through anything ❤️
Sadly, I left the hobby that I loved due to how expensive it is. I love tcgs and trading cards nonetheless. I just went to my very first ever Digimon locals. Yeah, there was only 3 people there, but it's what I need. Right now I'm on medication for anxiety and panic attacks. I had a panic attack last week because of so much stress and depression and loneliness and it all struck. It's been difficult for me to sleep and I go days without sleeping. Right now I'm on medical leave from work. My social anxiety has always been a challenge and it's something I must get through. I know it's not the Pokemon community, but it is a community I hope to meet many friends with, as that has always been difficult for me because of social anxiety. You're literally calming me down when I need it because I'm on medication for panic attacks, I'm missing my mother who passed away 5 years ago, and just me always spending so much time isolated and shunned away. It was so significant when I went to that Digimon locals. Way out of my comfort zone, but it's some I love because I love tcgs. I just hope to establish friendships because I'm getting too old and I get exhausted from being alone. I have thoughts of not being here anymore and mental health being shaky. I gave my brothers to still look out for, so I know I must push through. I just want to be surrounded by the people I love and vice versa. We are not meant to be isolated. I wish to experience a lot of what you have, making those memories and long lasting friendships doing something you love so much. That's beautiful and we all need that in this crazy life.
Fun fact the double rainbow energy trade was a great onr for you, the double rainbow energy depending on the set goes for min $5 and max $8 while the masquerain goes for 73 cents
Thank you! I’m glad you took the time to watch a couple videos! There’s plenty more to check out so be sure to come back and click around at some point!

It takes a lot of courage to be able to make a public video that was as personal as this. What an incredible journey and you definitely deserve 10k subs! Can’t wait to see where you go from here!
Thank you 💜💙
I appreciate you taking 30 minutes of your day to watch through the story. My biggest hope is that it makes others feel seen because I’m sure many of us have taken similar journeys to end up here we are
Thank you for sharing your story. Pokemon is truly an amazing franchise and the community is like no other. I look forward to continuing to witness your channel grow!
amazing story, good luck man
Absolutely incredible video Rex!
Being surrounded by like minded people all in the same age range isn’t something to take for granted so cherish it
@@ProfessorRex I will! Thank you! I hope I get to travel with my friends as much as you have, and enjoy our common interests all over the world!
@@dowottboy5889 university is a great time to meet people from all over & travelling gets much cheaper if you have somewhere to stay when you get where you’re going!
@@ProfessorRex That is very true!
Probably the best video on UA-cam ❤
You made me tear up frfr (no cap)
Congrats on 10K man. You're videos are high enough quality that I've actually always assumed you were a lot bigger of a youtuber so I'm sure you'll continue to grow if that's what you choose to do. Even though it was brief I'm glad I was able to be one of the many people you've encountered on your journey and I hope we might be able to meet again someday. I'll continue to stay tuned👍
Thank you my friend! I promise one day I’ll post the VLOG from worlds :p
It was great meeting you in London too 🤗
This was such a touching video. I'm so excited for you to see where you go. This is just the beginning my friend and you have so much in front of you. You have gone through so much and because of that, you can rely on the fact you can make it through anything ❤️
Bravo à toi et pour ton parcours, et GG pour cette vidéo très inspirante
the average joe merrick. thats such a quality joke, I don't even need to watch the rest of the video
Thank you for sharing your life with us!
