- The TLC reality show "Four Weddings" follows four brides competing to see who can throw the best wedding, with the winner getting a dream luxury honeymoon. There are plenty of reality shows that have been accused of being fake and overly-dramatic, but it seems like the wedding competition is pretty real, all things considered. Granted, the winners might have to wait a long time to actually go on the honeymoon, and if the episode doesn’t get aired, they don’t get to go. I'd of been pissed off if i won and my episode never aired on top of waiting almost a year or more to go on my honey moon.
Most of the women ARE catty and immature. They complain about simple things that another bride wouldn't have control over, like it was too hot or the food didnt have enough salt. Smh.

I agree with you. I think they are so afraid to rate anyone with high numbers because they want to win. Some of those weddings are just gorgeous and they either can't tell nice from ugly or they are just lying ...

I feel like to be on this show, you have to have a super expensive wedding to start with. If you can afford an expensive wedding, why not a honeymoon? Or, scale down your wedding a little and use that money for your honeymoon.

LuccaComet there was a girl who had it in her backyard and paid $100 for the whole thing.
I remember the backyard wedding. The other women the winner's personality. and creativity due to lack of funds. There were a bunch of carnival games set up tat everyone enjoyed.
Was it $100? I thought it was $6,000. I do recall watching that and I think her theme was punk and pink or something. I'm glad she won cause it turned out beautiful.
A lot of the older episodes (especially the UK ones) had a bunch of low budget weddings every episode.

I've always wondered how far apart the weddings take place. Weeks? Days? Months?
I've also wondered what the selection process was like - for example if you apply and you have a June wedding in Florida but no one else has a wedding that time, do they deny you or try to find other people?
There are a lot of weddings going all over so I wouldn't be surprised if they had plenty of candidates. The main problem is weddings on the same day. They have to either pick the better looking options, or maybe even have more then one crew.
Also I believe all the weddings take place a few days to about a week a part.
They are months apart from each other

Four Weddings was terrible. The most bland, cliche, 'traditional' wedding *always* won, because the other girls would purposely knock points off for anything out of the ordinary.

I was sad that the pirate bride's wedding didn't win. Hers was way more awesome than any of the other girls.

Not necessarily. I've seen some weddings get ranked low for not being original enough. Though it it generally does go one way or another.
I would not want to wait for a year. I plan to go right after the wedding is over.
Imagine doing the show in 2019.. pandemic… and still waiting to go on vacay
like seriously a year before you can go on a honeymoon that's more like a 1st year anniversary trip hahaha

Thank you for saying this! This was the only wedding show I liked on TLC. I can't stand the shows where they just bitch about the dresses for an hour (Maybe because I worked in retail. I would go pick a dress by myself and not listen to anyone else)
I want to see several very different weddings compared to each other and the creativity of each bride. And unlike the bridal magazines, not everyone is a size 2 and not everyone is doing the exact same cookie cutter thing.

I can't figure out why everyone is so cookie cutter now. Have we run out of original ideas, or is it the fact that everyone wants instagram approval of their wedding, or are too few people getting married?

I have a problem when one wedding spends 20K and another spends 10K etc. They should all have the same amount they spend on. SO NOT FAIR!!!

Paying taxes on the prize is to be expected. Flight? Now that's confusing. For what its worth, I'd rather be on Say Yes to the Dress.
It's a british show, and they are usually really legit with documentaries and reality TV (at least compared to America) and the US had to follow the same format. You can thank the english.

Oh good my questions all got answered. Though there still one episode that pisses me off. The couple was very nice but the whole wedding and reception was done in less then a few hours, with what I remember not being that amazing, they were rushing to catch a cruise ship.
So in theory they went on their honeymoon right after the wedding, but the same couple won anyway. To this day my late mother and I really don't like that one episode.

I just watched that episode the other day. The lady seemed like a nice person, but yeah, of all of them, she seemed like she needed it the least.
I get the whole wanting to win a free honeymoon trip, but I wouldn't televise my wedding..especially like that.
As for the some brides keep their cool at the end, not one bride did. I remember her getting pissed off and when they announced the winner she was like "America robbed me!" or something silly... it was awkward.
It'd be a lot cheaper if you just went on your own honeymoon and cut down the cost of the wedding. If you got all that money to plan a big ass extravagant wedding to try impress other brides so u can get a chance to win a honeymoon (which u may not win) might as well cut down the costing of all that extra shit in the wedding and go on your own honeymoon.

The biggest question I had is if you get a video of your personal wedding. If TLC is there documenting your wedding for the show, they have to gather all or most aspects of it. I plan on hiring the videography company that youtuber Tati used for her wedding, but if TLC is bringing cameras, I think it would be a nice thing for them to do. I read something about how they give the Duggars their wedding videos. Dont quote me on that though.

The most satisfying episode was when a very nice bride won over some girl who thought her wedding was all that & kept saying confidently: I have this. The winner had her wedding in her parents back yard and the loser was a chef who had cooked the food for her own wedding (which everyone agreed was tasty) but the winner had a jumpy castle & ice cream truck

I used to make wedding & party cakes so I've done probably 200 or 300 wedding cakes. While I like to watch the Show, each wedding is wonderful not a 4 or a 5...if I were young and getting married and being part of this Show, everyone would get a 10...it's OUR INDIVIDUAL WEDDING and always a 10...bothers me a lot watching then hearing the brides say OH, it wasn't fancy enough, the venue was too plain...and then the one woman who had skulls, evil stuff and had the nerve to be angry she didn't win...that one REALLY made me angry!

Maybe it got old? I binge watche hoarders, then escaping polygamy, and now this..They all get old after a while because it's all same-o same-o after a while.

My Typography College teacher participated. Another thing is they have to keep the show as a secret so on the most part the people in tge weddings dont know what is going on.
They would have to been realize something was up when they see all the cameras . Plus the footage of the guests/wedding party is not supposed to be be used without their consent.
Yea waiting a year for the honeymoon would suck but really you could just go on a smaller trip right after the wedding and save that bigger trip for a year later! Gives time to save up for airfare if necessary, etc. More fun anticipation I guess. It's free, I'll take it.
Great show but I would never go on this show. Those bride was jealous and haters. So ppl I see mark down other weddings because of personal feelings and jealousy. I was seriously watching lindsee’s episode while watching this so I knew who won
when 4 weddings first aired they were really positive and real ,but as the show went on they became so nonchalant and mean . Yes most of the couples are still together but i've recently seen a couple on pintrest ,they've been married for 11 years so far ,do the math : )

I am a African American female. Most of these shows are geared towards making a Caucasian female win. Just like The Bachelor. I don't know why African-American females continue to go on these shows. Have you ever seen this show have three African-American females and one Caucasian female? I've haven't seen one. The shows are geared I believe 4 Caucasian female to win in all shows I believe this. All shows that put more Caucasians than African American or geared towards making the Caucasians win that's my belief. It's all a show. But we all know the truth.

Completely agree. The white women pick constantly at Black Womens Wedding like they do in real life. Jealousy rearing it’s ugly head as usual. Just watched season 1 episode 1 and Nadine definitely deserved to win. The other brides were bitter and jealous.
