Winter Hiking High Above Loch Lomond
Вставка

- This time I was heading just north of one of Scotlands most popular mountains (Ben Lomond) to climb a lesser known mountain. Winter had set in and the Scottish mountains were covered in snow and ice. Join me on this adventure to see if I can summit another one of Scotlands mountains
Amazing views!
I've never visited Scotland in the winter, by the look of things i need to change that - no crowds, some incredible weather (although I know it's a bit of a lottery) and plenty of trails open and accessible! Nice vlog, love the peace and quiet. Good shout not to take any chances with that icy water.
Yeh if you get the right weather, Scotland is incredible in the winter. Loads of great hikes out there and I’ve barely done any yet. Thanks for the comment mate, hope you have a good Christmas and new year😊
WOW, what a walk! Fantastic views on views! Well done M8. All the best for 2024 & have a great Xmas. Cheers, John.
Thanks mate, have a good Christmas
Great video! Always good to see lesser hills getting some attention. Superb view from the top. As you say good to see familiar hills from a different angle. Have a great Christmas! 🎄 🍺🎅🏻
Thanks mate. Hope you have a good Christmas too and good new year when it comes😊
Hi mate, absolutely fantastic, you’ve been so lucky with the weather north of the border. We have had it awful in the Lake District recently, just struggling to get out. Hopefully I’ll get a couple of walks in over Christmas and the new year.
All the best over the festive period, and thank you for sharing all your adventure over the last year
Cheers, Dave
Aw sorry to hear that mate, nothing more frustrating than the weather keeping you from getting out. Hope you get some more adventures soon. All the best and have a good Christmas
Just as good hill walking should be, pathless rather than the eroded scars that we all follow👍👍🏴🏴
Very true but makes it a lot tougher 😂😂
@@ScottishSummiteer Aye, sae true but it's not meant to be easy!!!. The hills are getting higher as i get older👎👎🏴🏴
Good video, And well done in getting out even when you didn't feel like it
Thanks mate, always good to get out. Especially with that sort of weather
A few weeks ago you gave us the 'mountain of the horses' today its the 'mountain of the hounds'. I have always been fascinated at the sources of these names, many rooted in Celtic mythology. Its easy to forget that many place-names in now desolate areas were once inhabited with peoples with living cultures.
Brilliant vistas from the hill you caught so well in the low winter sunlight😊
I think your return route off the hill was better to avoid the bog-trotting! Just as well the ground was frozen, you'd be knee deep otherwise😅
The hill area comes within RSPB Inveruglas reserve, Golden eagles are noted on the 'to been seen' list.
Can I wish you and your friends/family and fellow supporters to your channel
all a happy and peaceful Christmas.
😊🎄
Roll on your New Year's adventures!!
Thanks for all the support throughout the year, means a lot. Hope you have a good Christmas and I’ll see you after Christmas for my final adventure before the new year 😊
Great video. A couple of cracking hills with epic views…Meall Mor (north end of Glencoe) and Beinn a Chrulaiste. Both in Glencoe and both brilliant hikes 👍
Thanks mate I’ve camped on beinn a chrulaiste before but I’ll have to give meall mor a go. Thanks
@@ScottishSummiteer The views from Meall Mor are astonishing. So long as you go on a good day lmfao :)
Haha I’ll make sure I pick a good day to do it
Great video mate really enjoyed it. Recommend the hidden valley walk in Glencoe, we did it a couple of weeks ago, landscape was stunning.
Thanks mate. Yeh I’ve done the hidden valley walk a few times. It’s absolutely amazing isn’t it, hard to beat
Your luck's finally working in your favour aha been getting good views from the past couple videos now when on top! Loved the video mate as always! Hope you find new places to explore, not from Scotland so can't recommend anything but I'm sure you'll find more cool places soon 🙋
Yeh ano haha been getting a bit luckier recently with the views. Have a good Christmas mate
@@ScottishSummiteer you as well 🤝
Nice one, I climbed Beinn a' Choin from Stronachlachar in 2021 and did a horseshoe of the ridges, great fun. Get yourself some microspikes for the ice, makes a huge difference and is much safer. If you want to focus on Grahams for a bit (it's often wise to do smaller hills in winter when the weather is worse and clouds are lower, more chance of a view) then get used to pathless walking! In the southern highlands I recommend Ben Venue, the 8 Grahams west of Loch Lomond, Strathyre's 3 Grahams, Ben Cleuch (the Ochils are superb), Fiarach at Crianlarich, along with Beinn Odhar (worth including Beinn Chuirn) and I enjoyed Beinn Mhor in Cowall. The Pap of Glencoe and Storr of Skye if you head further north, 2 of the best you can get. Further south, Glen Lednock's Blackcraig Hill is good, Green Lowther's easy (I recommend extending it), while Tinto and Culter Fell are South Lanarkshire classics that everyone in the central belt really ought to have climbed by now. 😄 Keep up the adventures exploring new places and have fun going off-piste and making your own routes, well worth it. If you want to climb my favourite Graham and Corbetts, get yourself over to Arran for Beinn Bharrain, best saved for better weather though. If it's a good challenge you want, head up the steep bit of Stob a' Choin and do the full ridge loop back to the bridge, tough going but an amazing walk up a stunning mountain and viewpoint, one of my highlights for this year. Cheers.
Thanks for the recommendations mate, will definitely be giving some of these a go next year. Hope you have a good Christmas
@@ScottishSummiteer cheers mate same to you.
Bennachie in Aberdeenshire is worth a visit for a lower hill, but go from the ‘Back o’ Bennachie’ car park rather than the main visitor centre carpark as it’s more interesting and you can do a better circuit round the tops (plus less people!). PS. There’s the remains of an old Pictish Fort on Mither Tap (one of the tops) that’s still there. 😉
Haven’t heard of that one, thanks for the recommendation. Will have to give it a go next year. Have a good Christmas
What about Ben Venue ,Ben Cleuch ,Beinn Each,Ben Vane from finglas,Ben A'an in the trossachs for a short walk ,all good winter options for the short days .
Thanks mate will have a look at those
When you film that mate 😮been pissing for weeks 😅
Yeh filmed this a while ago. Weather has definitely been a lot worse more recently
@@ScottishSummiteer defo mate 👌 keep up the videos 📹
