  • Rannoch Moor is an incredible expanse of wilderness in the Scottish highlands. Overlooked by many travelling through the moor and for this reason I decided to camp above the moor to truly appreciate the views it beholds. The weather was just about perfect. So all I had to do was get out, get exploring and nature would do the rest.

You know...most of us watching this, we won't ever get to experience these views in real life. Thank you for bringing it to us.

Living rurally myself with no visible neighbours, and great views of the nearby mountains in New Zealand, I struggle to understand how people can live in cities
I love the way you appreciate the wilds of Scotland, and rightly so, the scenery is awesome dude

The dawn-light shots of the rolling mists over the Rannoch moorland lochs and moraines would grace any prime time TV natural world documentary. (Queue David Attenborough voiceover!)
I don't know what decided you to pick this camp spot, on certainly untrodden ground. But it was an inspired choice for sure and gave us, your followers, a rare visual experience.

Thanks Mike. Yeh I’ve seen the hill on quite a few occasions heading through rannoch moor. Always thought it would be a good place to camp, so decided to go for it. Certainly glad I did, the conditions were just about perfect

I meant to add, that apart from the fantastic panoramic views of The Rannoch Moor, you also gave us an insight to the practicalities of your personal camping and domestiv feeding arrangements.😛
My early experiences were no different, my first ventures were with the first produced Vango force 10's. Despite all the advances in tent construction and dehydrated foods, all seems so familiar.
At the end of the day it's the fantastic Scottish mountain landscape which draws us to venture out, defy the most fickle of weather systems, and come home for you to share those experiences with ourselves.
    Your efforts are SO appreciated
    Mike

Couldn’t have said it better myself Mike. I appreciate that it is fun choosing which camping equipment to use. But the reason we are out in the first place is the surroundings. I’m sure I’ll get more adventurous with my cooking in the future 😂😂. But I don’t mind what I’m eating as long I can continue to explore our beautiful country. Thanks for the comment👍

What a beautiful adventure! You seem to be really confident going out there on your own now, I'm glad to see it. The pairing of the music with the views was really nice. The place does look a bit otherworldly. And, in my experience, even the most basic hot meal tastes amazing when backpacking lol. Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us.

Yeh I am getting more confident with the wild camping. Starting small and building up definitely seemed to work. You’re 100% right when it comes to food, anything hot will do. Thanks for the support🙏

Your videos are getting better each time! Was this around Rannoch itself? Maybe the water on the tent was caused by the clouds descending overnight to cause that inversion? Good choice of music, and excellent photography.

Yeh I camped on a hill called Meall Mor (492m) which has a neighbouring hill Meall Beag (472m). The hills are not commonly climbed so makes for a great place to camp. Yeh I think that’s how the tent got wet, a fair trade for the views I think😂😂
