Again, congrats on the well deserved 200K! I remember when you guys were at 50K. As for this game I’ll pick it up physically when it hits a half off price
Almost finished the first game on switch and was looking for an excuse to continue the story. Great review as per usual! Thanks for keeping up with the great quality!
I cant get a handle on the fighting, got through the desert after the first boss in the forest to the town but only by avoiding the monster things in the desert.
I have platinumed the game on PS4. It took me more than 95 hours, but it was worth it. One of the best JRPGs in recent times. I will skip on it on NS, but highly recommend it for new players.
I’m loving this game. I prefer action j/rpgs as opposed to turn based and this probably would have gone under the radar if it wasn’t for your channel. Thanks for always coming through with awesome reviews! Cheers!
Oh, my God! I still have to play the first one. I got it on a sale a long time ago, but haven't touched it yet. I was curious about this one. Thanks for the review. You guys are the best!
I really loved this game, surprisingly more than the first one. I had a ton of fun switching out characters to play, and I loved the design of combat in this game. I also really loved the kingdom building and mini RTS matches.
I loved this game back when it came out but the original Ni No Kuni has a special place in my heart because it introduced me to Studio Ghibli and I’ve loved their work since and i own all their films on Blu rays, my favourite Ghibli films being Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away 😊
This feels like ys9 all over again at least for me. Where the 1st game (ys8, nino 1) runs smoother than the 2nd one. Still excited for it and like ys9, will surely get it once it gets a decent discount on eshop.
I wonder if this game has a difficulty spike like the first one. At the start, the original game is also easy and then BOOM, suddenly you need to grind like a madman, because you get killed very fast. It actually forced me to stop playing the game.
The main story, if I remember correctly, remains consistent. However, the optional bosses and optional fights can be quite difficult if you aren’t prepared! You can pretty much use any main party composition for the main story, though.
I thought I was the only one. I stopped playing NK1 for a few months and then played it again determined to level up more, way more, finished it luckily
I definitely like the combat better in this one more than the first game. And the overworld frame rate being a bit slow really doesn't impact game play. They did a good job and I'm sure it will be patched more.
Having just finished Ni No kuni wrathe of the white witch and feel accomplished that I beaten it (my backlog is enormous) I couldn’t wait to start on Ni No kuni 2. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on it, but I’m about 10 hrs in and I can honestly say that part 2 is far more enjoyable and engaging than the first one. Aside for the frame drop on the world map in handheld mode, im totally loving it.
In the first game I loved the Boss fights but found the mob fights super boring and in most games I like I enjoy the mob fights aswell even if they are easy. Not in Ni No Kuni 1
It is not well ported. graphics and resolution are just a joke. U cant even see the lips of the characters because of the aliasing. Dont be fooled by this review, like I was.
Fantastic review, guys! Just to let you know, I beat this game to 100% over on PS4, including every piece of DLC. And, in my experience, Ni No Kuni 2 can take up between 130 to 150 hours, full completion. Also, the DLC introduced additional combat systems which can make the game feel a bit overbearing, but once you learn those they add up to the game.
My debit card- “please have mercy on me” Me- SWIPE! I just bought the first one and I’m barely an hour in but I’m definitely buying this one. Thanks guys, this is my favorite game reviewing channel!
I was a huge fan of the first game so I was always definitely going to pick this up, but I’m glad to hear performance is pretty good for the most part. Honestly, I found the combat of the first game to be very tedious at times. The companion A.I. was not very bright overall (thank god for the all-out defense command you EVENTUALLY got), and just running away from the enemies to cast spells repeatedly got a bit old after awhile. I think this action-RPG approach will definitely be welcome in my opinion! Thanks for the great review.
I don’t know how I never heard about a sequel before. Perhaps due to more mixed response when compared to the 1st game, which is always highly praised. As always, it’s great to hear your perspective, especially with performance
I played this to completion on PS4. It's an excellent game to play while listening to a podcasts. I found the grind of the first game to be just too much. NNK2 is probably a good alternative to people who can't get their hands on Tales of Arise.
Yeah I was thinking it looked like a Tales game, in the combat at least. I'd like to see a few more Tales games on Switch, I'd really like to play Tales of Berseria. I started watching a playthrough then stopped cos I didn't want to spoil it in case I got the chance to play it! LOL
I adored the first game but found it harder to get into the second one. Maybe because the first one I played on Switch and the second was PC but now that it's out for Switch, I'll definitely give it another go 🥰 Great review as always!
I played this on PC. This game got me hooked from the beginning. First time hearing the opening theme. I've never been so hesitant to click the on the New Game.
Great review as always! Beat this on PS4, but might pick it up again to run through the dlc on switch. Definitely not as good as the first. But man I want them to keep making things in this series.
Settling for 20/30fps in non-combat Situations but enabling 60 in combat was the right move. Why do you want constant 30 everywhere when this would also impact combat?
Thanks Mark for the review. I'm picking up the physical version tomorrow. I have played the PS4 version that I borrowed from a friend. Looking forward to playing it portable. Appreciate your insights.
I imagine this would be a good pick for showing off the new OLED switch. Also played through and loved on playstation so perhaps a pick up for a heavy e shop sale. Think the original went as low as 6 quid at one point. Mental! Great review as usual!
I fully completed this game way back on ps4. Fantastic game. I really hope they are still developing the third one and if they are I hope it comes to the west. With all the sad news about their studio, looks like chances are slim now :/.
Is it possible to turn off the sub text that is under the minimap? Trailer showed that the sub text wasn't there but here I generally see that clustered thing back?
I played this on ps4 and I will recommend this 100% I didn't like the chibi battles. but even those when it was tied to the story was enjoyable, the side battles were meh and needed to level troops. Loved the city building part
what's the difference of the PC version with the Prince edition? (Besides the console it's played on) Just checking if there are additional story lines or equipment that's not included in the PC version
I was hoping I had more time before this one came out. I'll get it eventually, but I still have too many JRPG's sitting in my backlog to get it immediately. Thanks for the review, which confirmed that this one is right up my alley!
Great review! I enjoyed Ni No Kuni 1 on Switch so much that I bought a PS4 to play NNK2. I’m glad it’s finally on switch. Easy recommendation! My main tip is to increase the difficulty from the start, and just lower it if you need to for bosses and such. It’s worth noting that this game basically treats normal as its easy mode.
I guess if the frame rate is unlocked it does mean it’ll run well on any future generations of switch without additional work by the game dev. It does feel like every game needs a 30/60/unlocked frame rate option though, it’s so easy to implement.
Thanks for the review! I’ve wondered about this ever since it’s original release. But so many of the reviews I’ve looked at have been negative about the game… it’s nice to see a good review.
Whoa, nice, I remember beating this game back in 2018, I think, for PS4, but I had NO IDEA that it released so much DLC since then!! I personally think the first game is head and shoulders better than this one, but this one still for sure has memorable moments in terms of the amazing art style!
I may have missed it if you mentioned it, is there a Japanese audio option? I always find it odd playing these types of games with English tracks, but loved the first one and will definitely be picking this up
Thank you for your awesome reviews , as always, I watch them all. Guys, how quickly can you get a review out on Diablo 2 on switch? I really want to get it, but i'm worried about the performance and also the controls. Here's hoping that its a great success on switch , like diablo 3 :) , really want to get it, but waiting on your review.
It can be done. The keyword is "grind". I'm on chapter 3 expert mode and I'm level 44. Unless you dont have time or you dont like grinding then it is hard. ✌
I own this on PS4, but have been holding out to play it on switch. Now that it’s coming out snd got a nice review, I think I’ll spend the $60 on it. Huge fan of Ghibli films (watching howls moving castle as I type this lol). Thanks for the review guys !! More money out the wallet because of you 😅😁
Amazing review as always guys! Never played a game from this series and White Witch is on sale and heard good things. Ask the community how good is the first one and why is it so highly praised? Thanks!
I bought the first one while it was on sale and couldn't finish because the combat was so clunky and demanded a lot of quick thinking, specially in bosses. The AI on your partners also sucks ass, they will either waste all their MP on a single enemy or literally do nothing helpful the entire battle, so almost every battle you have is just you babysitting them so they don't die or spam magic attacks on enemies. The artsyle is literally the only selling point of this series and the reason why people praise it so much.
Need help deciding if I should pick this up or go for the Ni no kuni 1. It's much cheaper on eshop right now...but I prefer the action combat of the 2 (based on what i see). Help. Which has better replay value/story.
Adore the first game. I see number 1 is always on sale so may wait for this but think I'll take the plunge at some point v soon. Maybe after Metroid Dread!
I agree entirely with your comments comparing it to the first game. I got into this game much more easily and really enjoyed the combat but then again, I like my games to be little easier now
@@dandy6191 I also love murderous games, filled with chaos and gore, but once in a while I enjoy artfully tasteful games with a gentle soul. And this one is it. @@dandy6191 like i said, the game was really for kids. It did look childish and colourful. The writings also wasn't complicated because of the target audience. Is it advisable to avoid the DLC equipment if you want any kind of challenge? The DLC stuff in Tales of Vesperia was absolutely ludicrous and game breaking, allowing you to level up about 40 levels right from the beginning!
You sold me on getting the first 1 of No No Kuni and now you definitely sold me on this one as well. Thanks again guys for hurting my wallet and helping me decide.
Since I already own this on a PC and Playstation, I doubt I'll triple-dip any time soon. Now if this were to go on a pretty decent and deep discount then I might pick it up just for the portability.
If anything would cause my switch to melt, I expect it would be the skirmishes. Hope to get some feedback on that aspect at some point. Bonus tidbit: teletubbies were (are?) a thing in the US too.

You poor poor people haha I thought it was just us to suffer them
@@SwitchUpYt they were a very real part of my childhood here in Canada as well.
Pure nightmare fuel…..
@@erikludwig5515 the nightmare fodder for me were the teletubbies-inspired fooglies from the movie Spy Kids.
@@SecretGizmo1902 now that’s something I’d successfully blocked from my memory until now….
I always see the 1st game on sale but always on the fenced if I should get it or not
You really should! Mark
@@SwitchUpYt I probably will it’s on sale digitally, so I might go with that.
Where's the All Patched Up review? Did this never get patched to fix the performance issues?
