She is not supposed to touch the baby Barbary Macaques. They are wild animals. The older one gave her a warning bite and she still went and touched the baby again. Mother Macaque could have given a serious bite. They may touch you, but you mustn't reach out to them, touch them, scream or have food in view.
People need to realise they do carry diseases. The government in gibrater are actively age them a d its a.pity Asia doesn't do the same There's an active breeding programme so they are not over bred and they do look healthy no starvation issues Hats off to the government I say .but I wouldnt handle them on a visit and I certainly want a bite.just a thought .
The baby is repeatedly looking in her palm for food. It’s completely unreceptive to any of her touching. It’s only checking to see if she’s offering food. And she acts as though it’s holding her hand to return her affectionate gesture - it’s not. It would prefer that there is no affection or gesturing, only an exchange of food items. How is she so oblivious to it’s very clear body language?
The moment you show your teeth is the most offensive thing you can do to any primate.... It is extremely threatening and rude. Never ever show your teeth, and you will be fine.
