excellent info! Ive been chasing down issues on my van for YEARS.........and finally have come to a loose/not sealing oil cap (and oil filler tube grommet at the engine is cracked, leaking air) creating a LEAN condition.....leading to more fuel injected.... and fouling the spark plugs and O2 sensors!

Great explanation. There should be at least 2 PCV valves installed on all engines especially V6 and V8s. That way if one fails, the pressure can be relieved through the other. It seems that failure of PCV valve means failure of gaskets, misfires, oil burning, sludge, and probably accelerated failure of an engine. It’s interesting how there seems to be so little attention to this. Tons of videos talk about changing gasket and rarely any videos explain why it leaked in the first place.

I own a 2006 Lexus GS. This car is in EXCELLENT condition. I've had the car for 12 years. It runs beautifully with 125k miles. I maintain it religiously. About one month ago I started to get a strong exhaust smell in the cabin. This occurred intermittently. 'Sometimes' on cold start up the car would reek with exhaust fumes. Sometimes not. The exhaust fumes occur randomly. They were quite strong and made breathing difficult. My wife would not want to ride in the car. I took it to the Lexus dealership and explained the issue, describing the symptoms and the odor. They kept the car for three days and couldn't solve the problem. I took it to two local mechanics also and neither could identify the issue. The last one kept the car for two days and said that upon start up he could smell something. He said he believed the problem was coming from the A/C unit. His solution Ozium in the intake vents.
A day after getting the car back I started the car, in the garage, and the exhaust fumes were again overwhelming. I decided to park the car and do some reading....
I found where one person said a symptom of a bad PCV valve might be exhaust fumes. I removed the PCV valve in my garage. It was the original factory OEM valve and completed carboned up. It was and stuck in the open position. I replaced it and the car ran perfectly with NO exhaust fumes. It seems slightly more responsive and runs like a brand new car. Cost $10....
People often don't consider the PCV valve when maintaining their vehicles. I was one of those, but now I know how important that little part is...

PCV valve is very important and it dosent come to ur mind when u have lean codes. Possability is there
It dosent come to mine when there’s random misfire
      And so much more

@@RBTheMechanic My car did not throw a code. The last mechanic felt certain that if there was an issue a code would be generated. Not so. On top of that, the car purred like a kitten. I believe the mechs thought I was exaggerating... or something. It became quite an issue. I told my wife I would get rid of the car if I couldn't get this issue solved. Lots of reading gave me the clue....

I have a 2017 ford fusion with a 1.5 L ecoboost and got a crankcase pressure code, makes my engine light come on then the light will stay off for a few days then it will come back on. Is it a bad sensor that needs to be replaced or is it actually something wrong with my engine?

Ok well check for leaks and since u did the valve and pipe now keep an eye on the oil if it’s any success also next oil try diffrent oil GTX castrol and then keep an eye on it worst come to worst most likely it’s the piston rings and valve seals which u can do much about

I doubt it’s cam sensor it can do things but I would hook up scan tool and see the misfire data and then swap coils do tune up oil change and see where that take it also look for vaccum leaks since u got p0300
