I work in patrol for my local sheriff's office in a rural area on night shifts. We are constantly in the woods looking for suspects, making entries into homes on violent calls, and searching for narcotics on traffic stops. I'm a fan of NiteCore lights and currently use the P23 as a duty light. The EDC29 would replace that and help to streamline my loadout and offer a bit more power. Appreciate the reviews. You do a great job.

I’ve been a clock in before the sun rises up type of guy for years now & constantly use my EDC 27 for the walk from the parking lot onto the work property. Usually avoiding spiderwebs, bats & sometimes stray dogs! The strobe usually freaks out the aggressive dogs enough that they back away. An upgrade to 6K lumens would definitely be appreciated & I know I’d put it to good use.
6.5K is some serious illumination. Reverse momentary low, semi lock out, and proximity sensor makes good sense for a light with high lumens. It's for specific users i must add. Always, your videos are very well explained. Tq.
Thanks for detailing the UI--really appreciated! It's nice that they have some clever implementations for the low level. But I am waiting until they start standardizing around 2 up/down buttons. Not only will we finally have the most basic feature of changing brightness up AND down--all the clever features will be much more intuitive. Eg: From power off, press and hold up button for instant/temp turbo. from power off, double press/hold up for instant/temp strobe. from power off, press/hold down button for instant/temp low.
Of course I need this flashlight! When delivering newspapers around the neighborhood with my wagon, I constantly need to grab newspapers from the wagon, the instant low gives me better light transition from walking brightness (400-700 lumen) to close up so I won't blind myself every time I reach in. Pre-select mode feature is also helpful for my tech support work (under the desk cable management or server room cable switch boxes.)
Definitely a must buy for me, I’m a first responder so I’m always clearing buildings. The manual lock up is a huge benefit, the amount of times I’ve had a light go off in my pocket is insane.
Holy guacamole, it's just like a TM and an EDC flashlight had a baby! This format looks amazing for tactical uses, especially because it will definitely look flush on a vest. I would love to give my TM9K Tac some rest and use the EDC29 as my main work flashlight. I'm a police officer, and having the right brightness levels available at the right moment is perfect. Being able to select the brightness levels without needing to turn it on is so convenient! Also, I really loved that you continue using the physical lock button, it's one of my favorite features on my EDC33. I'm sure this flashlight would make my job way easier and cooler. Nice gear and amazing review, as always!
I've learn so much from your video about flashlight. The way you explain everything make me able to explain everything about this light to other people. Clear as day, bright as nitecore light.

Hello i climb through & clear pipe for a living & when yourlight dies or it falls off you & ends up under you & you don't have the space to get your hands in between yourself & the pipes it can getpretty dark . I would be interested in testing your light as my life light. Ive testing an absurd amount of lights. Your light has many options that i have been looking for. Its brightness, its size, where i need it to attach to my body, the knife grip when i need to take it off my body that no other light offers, the ability to dull the light when i need to look at my maps & the turbo when i need to see when i get to junctions & need to see down 50-60ft. So if you decide to allow me to use your light id love to see if its the one like i think it is id be much appreciated. Thank for your time.
I’ve carried an EDC27 for a short while but it’s got very poor water resistance. Just clipped on my body armor in the rain the LEDs fogged up under the lens. I put it in a baggie with some desiccant which dried it out. Then hiking a short time later it was raining and I was using the light at dusk. The LED reflector areas filled up with water. I only had the light about a month before the first time it happened. Never dropped and never submerged. Needless to say it’s a nightstand light now as I can’t trust it outside. It’s the one thing stopping me from buying the 29. It works great indoors though.
I hope this is not a common issue. I own EDC33 and 27 too and havent encounter any problem, yet. For such a premium price on this brand, I would expect premium-level of QC and it would be unacceptable if Nitecore rejects your RMA. Sofirn, Wurkkos and other companies sometimes have issues like these but that is to be expected with their budget pricetag, but even then they would gladly reissues a new unit for these kind of defect for free. At least that have been my experiences so far.
I have the EDC 27 and the LCD screen fogs up, ive never used it in anything but a slight sprinkle of rain. I assume that humidity in the air has casued it. For me its a useful formfactor when walking the dog at night, but it istn something i consider to be waterproof at all. I have an astrolux light that I use when its raining, and it is so far fine.
I should add that I also have an older EC4 light, which I also cannot use, since the stupid threads on the base of the light are pathetic, and damage themselves everytime you replace the batteries. which you need to do a lot since they arent internally chargeable and they drain when left powered off. I think im about done with nitecore in reality. i have found astrolux to be better. So when I need a new light I know where I will be looking.
@@Fanta.... when I opened the light up to dry it out, it was clearly well built as far as layout and cleanliness. Nothing seemed cheap or misplaced. It’s just not sealed in a way that offers any protection. There’s no rubber seal except the charge port. It’s a shame because I want the new EDC29 now and won’t buy it because of this.
Glad to know it has a mechanical lock ...i hope to buy it soon when it is available here in the Philippines it is a big help on my part since i have a not so clear vision since i got sick last year 2023..i have the NITECORE MH15 and EDC 35 and it is a big help to me especially at night when walking here in our village ....Thank You Nitecore for the awesome innovation of your flashlight 👍👍
That's a sweet light! I love the compact size and incredible power! The reverse feature is awesome! I could definitely see myself using this all the time!
Ok, instant strobe-read is back, I'm sold! 1/2 lockout is the bonus. I finally have something to rotate with the P10ix when I need a slimmer profile. I honestly didn't think Nitecore would "fix" this so soon.
I appreciate your videos. Your quality and professionalism is unmatched. I also really enjoy listening to your accent 😅 Thanks for the recommendation and I will be considering this for duty
I work on the underground electric utility, and I have the EDC27 and love it for the flat design as I can place it on an underground transformer and not worry about it rolling all over the place while doing work. It also comes in clutch when in a manhole working on the cables there really is no place to lay a flashlight down and not have it roll all over this place the EDC27 fixes that problem. This light would be a huge upgrade for the same type of work especially with the new lock feature being more glove friendly.
This is one of the baddest lights I've seen. As a fan of the EDC27 already, I ordered this immediately from the website. Still I wish the pocket clip wasn't so low, but aside from that this looks like a crazy upgrade over previous models. Thanks for the informative video & overview.
I'd use this in my line of work. I play live music for events and weddings all over the uk. Some of them are well lit, but most venues are in the middle of nowhere and loading out at the end of the evening in pitch black isn't ideal! These lights are so helpful for finding bits of gear in poorly lit stages and back stage, navigating around farms and private land where these venues are usually located.
Absolutely! I could use the EDC 29 for work. I'm an electrician and it's always good to have slim lights but also bright features because they don't roll around when you're trying to do something with a panel
I LOVE ALL THE NEW FEATURES! I BOUGHT THE EDC27 IN THE PAST AND REALLY LIKED WHAT IT HAD TO OFFER, BUT WITH ALL THE CHANGES I WOULD HAVE MADE FOR AN UPGRADE NITECORE SUCCEEDED WITH THIS MODEL. WORKING K9 SOMETIMES ON LONG SEARCHES WHERE MY DOG IS ON A LONGER LEAD I'LL CLIP THE EDC27 ON HIS VEST ON A MEDIUM LIGHT SETTING AND I'VE FOUND THAT IT REALLY HELPS ME KEEP MY DOG ON SCENT WITHOUT WANDERING OR DISTRACTIONS. PLUS IT'S SLIM SIZE SAVES ME (AND MY DOG) FROM CARRYING A BULKY ROUND LIGHT. GREAT VIDEO I LOVE HOW YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING ABOUT ALL THE FLASHLIGHTS YOU DEMO. KEEP'EM COMING PLEASE.
Awesome channel. I work as a private security contractor for a living and the edc29 sounds like the perfect it for to my day to day. All the best from New York
Niiiice! I would definitely use that in my line of work 😮 amazing.... I'm sharing this video everywhere and my friends. Thank you for this video I am super excited for this release.
yes i would definitely use it in my line of duty as a security guard here in the Philippines because here where we are currently stationed we have a large area to cover..spotlight & floodlight is such a useful modes to use in such large areas..i love to have one to pair with my MT2C Pro which i am using n0w during my night shifts👍
Killing it with the UHI leds And user interface. Manual lock was smart. I need a flashlight with simple tactical high output only option, for work and self defense.
I recently got an EDC29 and love it. I wish the turbo run-time was a bit longer, but I can deal with it. But I have one point of confusion: What did they have in mind with the included lanyard with the clip? It doesn't work as a wrist lanyard, and is a bit long for a fob. What in the world would people clip it to? I guess it's time to learn to tie a paracord wrist lanyard.
My main edc light for years has been a streetlight stylus pro mini🎉 I love it. But I can honestly say this would be useful as I use my edc gear daily and I was looking for a new light. Thanks for making the video
As a Merchant Marine and working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, it is imperative to have a reliable light, I love nitexore! Now I have to consider the E29 forsure!
Working shift work included being in night shift. This beam is perfect for when checking vehicles instead of a rounded flashlight it is more tactical and compact to have this EDC29 during the course of usage during the shift. This is perfect to blind person when engaging unknown and sudden need to defend oneself. This is by far the best produce series yet.
What an amazing powerhouse flashlight in a slim, easy to carry, format. I live at the edge of the city with not so great public illumination and a lot of stray dogs on the street, in Eastern Europe, so this light could be the perfect and my only tool for protection and feeling safe; thanks for the very good presentation of the products, very easy to understand 👍
I’ve been a Nitecore user since the Defender Infinity came out and I’d buy more if I could find them… This EDC29 would be a good fit for me both at work and outside of work simply because of the versatility it offers in beam brightness. I would use the lower brightness settings at work when performing inspections on tooling or machinery, use it at home in the dark when walking my dog, but what I could really use it for is when I am at my rural property with a cabin in the woods… You need a lot of lumens to punch thru the trees, a 400 lumen light just doesn’t go far at times when I am looking for predators at night while going to the bathroom or bringing in firewood. I have resisted having a larger than AA/14500 light simply because they are soo large-this light may change that for me.
I have the edc25 and it’s been very useful when I go on my hospital rounds to check on patients’ wounds and dressing. At night, it comes useful when checking the area in our house for security purposes.
I greatly miss my EDC27, loved everything about it besides the tail cap buttons being pressed in my pocket often while sitting down at work. I switched to the EDC33 and and absolutely love this thing now :) This new EDC29 is very tempting
I would use the edc 29, i am often in low light settings but not always needing the light for long periods of time. The reverse high to low would especially be helpful. Also knowing how much time I have exactly on the battery life would be the perfect fit for me. Been watching you for a while now and I finally subbed! Thanks!
Hell to the yes! Amazing pair up to my P20IX to add to my self-defense arsenal whenever I'm out in the concrete jungle! Now, I feel far more confident and safer that I could actually draw it and press the strobe button much quicker than my P20IX with its flat setup, not to mention, 2500 lumens more! Will be buying it asap without a second guess!
I would definitely use an EDC29 at work doing night cleaning. I currently have a TM12K and have felt the burn on my leg a couple of times when it when turbo in my pocket.
I was not a fan of build-in battery flashlight until I saw this EDC29, it immediately took my attention! If I win this light, it will instantly replace my convoy flashlight since it does not have much to offer for everyday use. The EDC29 does everything in-one light which makes it very useful for me as a cyclist and courier since it can be strapped on my chest with not much bulk. I hope to win this light since this is way too over for my budget 😅 I would only have this light if im the lucky winner :) With all that being said, thank you nitecore for making such incredible lights and thank you for the opportunity to win a fantastic light
im a Nitecore fan and user for 3 yrs i have 8 flashlight but may buy wurkkos n fenix removable battery and brighter Mh12 by Nitecore is ok but not very
For me, EDC stands for 'Emergency Daily Carry.' It’s not just about having everyday items; it’s about being prepared for the unexpected. A reliable flashlight is an essential tool in my loadout because it ensures I’m never left in the dark-literally or figuratively. Whether it’s navigating through a sudden power outage or finding my way in low-light situations, having this flashlight would be a critical addition to my gear. It’s not just another gadget; it’s a lifeline that I need to stay prepared for whatever comes my way."
One Nitecore model I purchased a few years ago failed, and so did multiple same model warranty replacements. So I asked Nitecore to replace with a different model, and they refused, offering to continuously replace the defectively designed / manufactured model. After that, I refuse to purchase anything from Nitecore, as that would be begging for them to abuse me further. Since then, I switched to various Fenix products, and am far more satisfied.
Indeed, having a powerful pocket light is quite advantageous. As a photographer, it can serve as a reliable supplementary light source for backlighting in various locations.
This flashlight will be very useful for me, as an outdoor photographer who is required to often explore the forest. The last few months I have been using the MT2A Pro, which is actually enough for me.
As a helicopter pilot, I'm pretty sure that light could replace/be an alternate landing light :P... It'd be perfect for night flights, quick access and easy use to get around poorly lit tarmacs, as well as preflight inspections in low/no light.
I’ve been looking to get my first thin flat flashlight. I was leaning towards the olight Arkfeld ultra but this has caught my eye. I would def use for daily tasks.
Wow, I may now have to get one of these "flat" flashlights ! I've been looking at them for a while. I have a ton of lights and don't " need " one, lol. But I would love this one!
This light looks amazing, definitely would be using this at work every day cause working outside with no light is the most annoying thing ever. I used to use the edc27 until I lost it a few weeks ago

I work as a surveyor and when we go below ground or in unpowered areas, we need good lights that are bright, durable, rugged, adaptable and in my line of work, there is no such thing as I overkill. It's always nice having the appropriate tools for the task at hand. Oh gaud, I sound like an OSHA video.😅
I constantly go on night walks home from work and use my edc27 to inspect my workplace at night, so this would be a major upgrade, especially over distances
This seem like an excellent EDC Tool for wvery day needs. Especially at the dark days that are around the corner. I use my current light on my way to the car and back to the house. The EDC 29 could be an good light for some tasks at the evening on my work.
Petzl headlamps have a sensor that reduce power when looking at something close to remove blindness. ideal for running/looking at map, etc. (no button to press)
I carry a CCW so this light would he good for me to use with that. I prefer to not have a weapon light on my gun due to the holster having to be wider to accommodate for the light which creates a gap in the kydex holster. When this happens, it's likely something can get inbetween (like a string) and cause the trigger to pull. I would prefer a light like this over a dedicated weapon light. Great video!
This is really impressive! I'll stick with my EDC 25 for its simplicity and slim form factor. It's a really practical light that's slim and light enough to actually carry everyday... which is the point of EDC!
I have a P20ix and eyeing to buy this EDC29 but the build in battery is the drawback for me. The P20ix in Tactical mode has good choice either which button I click in a hurry because the main button will blast Turbo 4,000 lumens then the other button is Strobe light. It also has a striking bezel with tungsten tip. The battery is also replaceable which is a good thing.
I love the flat flashlight, i would use it as an edc light to find a screw when i drop it. I also like that it doesnt have a magnet, because as a machinist, tiny sharp bits of steel stick to every magnet i edc
Have been waiting for this for a while now. I already own the EDC25 & 35, but I want to get this one as well. Compared to the EDC25 it has double the lumens, and compared to the EDC35 it has Strobe as well as the flat design. I’ll be using it as my main EDC light.
This would be amazing for my work. I do security at the port at night w drivers, container pickers trucks ect. We wear vest to be seen but alot of times a light is needed to make sure you dont get run over or crushed when something is being transported. Checking paper work and flagging down drivers or for emergency. They supply us w crappy battery powered duracell flashlight that weighs 3lbs hahahha. Carrying that is such a downer. Can't wait for this light to drop! Win or not, i will eventually purchase it 🤙🏾

I work as a private security contractor for a living and the edc29 sounds like the perfect it for to my day to day.
All the best from New York
Private security contractor?? Holy shit.
Niiiice! I would definitely use that in my line of work 😮 amazing.... I'm sharing this video everywhere and my friends. Thank you for this video I am super excited for this release.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@NitecoreSG Your welcome I hope your having a amazing day
They seem to always make my favorite flashlights! Def going to add one of these to my collection 😎
yes i would definitely use it in my line of duty as a security guard here in the Philippines because here where we are currently stationed we have a large area to cover..spotlight & floodlight is such a useful modes to use in such large areas..i love to have one to pair with my MT2C Pro which i am using n0w during my night shifts👍
I’m sold going to order one today😊 I now have the MTI Pro currently compact as you can get an a blaster 💥💥
love the edc, comfortable in the hand and strobe feature. great self defense tool
Killing it with the UHI leds
And user interface.
As a mechanic I use my edc27 but I always wished it was a little brighter this solves that problem ❤
Just got the edc 25 and I love it. Looks like I'll be ordering one of these too!
I need this light in my life! I love flashlights! The brighter the better. It's nice to see this small form in a high lumen flashlight.
I have the edc25 and it’s been very useful when I go on my hospital rounds to check on patients’ wounds and dressing. At night, it comes useful when checking the area in our house for security purposes.
Thats a nice torch. I think I'll get this 1 next. Thanks
Thanks!
Appreciate it!
Great review! Cheers
I just bought one. It better be as good as advertised!!! 😊
So glad they fixed that stupid lockout code on the EDC 27 that was the only complaint that I had about that light
Olight will not fail u
I love Nitecore modes best from all flashlight's that two buttons change everything and have spot light and fload light in one beam!
I hope to win this light since this is way too over for my budget 😅 I would only have this light if im the lucky winner :)
With all that being said, thank you nitecore for making such incredible lights and thank you for the opportunity to win a fantastic light
im a Nitecore fan and user for 3 yrs i have 8 flashlight but may buy wurkkos n fenix removable battery and brighter Mh12 by Nitecore is ok but not very
For me, EDC stands for 'Emergency Daily Carry.' It’s not just about having everyday items; it’s about being prepared for the unexpected.
Since then, I switched to various Fenix products, and am far more satisfied.
very helpfull n informative review , u make the decisions more easier , thnx
I do hvac work so light like this would come in handy when in attics etc
Indeed, having a powerful pocket light is quite advantageous. As a photographer, it can serve as a reliable supplementary light source for backlighting in various locations.
Having already owned the Edc 27 UHI i must get tbis one Nitecore makes outstanding products.
Great review! I would really love one as an EMT I have every one before this and they are amazing
I love the flat design🤙🏾
You're holding it like a weapon, is this strong enough to strike with too? Will the light end stand up to blunt force like a skull?
Looks amazing for the price, will be picking one up.
Seems like the best thought out version of the EDC 2# series yet
Love my Nitecore lights!
Great video. Commenting to support
Thanks for the helpful video. I'd like a flat EDC torch but until something can compete I'll stick to my P20iX.
You need 1 trust me
This light looks amazing, definitely would be using this at work every day cause working outside with no light is the most annoying thing ever. I used to use the edc27 until I lost it a few weeks ago
I need one of these when I cut tress after dark. Gets pretty unsafe work slows down this would be a dream
teasing us with the edc23 on the desk~ when the review gonna be releasing?
Right!
He sounds like Uncle Roger.
Why am I supposed to know who that is?
no. but thanks for your racism
Optical Damage!
@@UNICORN69HO its not just the accent or because he is asian. his voice is actually a bit similar, and the speech pattern. one person sounding like another person isnt a racial thing. youre the racist, viewing the world from that mindset.
@@UNICORN69HOthat’s not racism. That’s an accent comparison. Get over your sensitivities.
Win or not, i will eventually purchase it 🤙🏾
I have two edc27. One still brand new. I use mine around the house when it’s dark outside.
I like how nitecore is improving their beam, but I'd like to see them improve runtime and heat dissipation
I’m sold on this item, I currently use the MTIC Pro a compact pocket blaster can’t be beat for the size💥💥💥
Ummm...is that a smaller version on the table in front of you.....must buy it too!
Sharp eyes 😏
@@NitecoreSG EDC 23 😏
Hey can you tell us about the 23 please
the only thing i miss is the inbuild red vision for caves and tunnels. ofc with same light power output
