Chris sets the bar so high ..its hard to compare him with anything. even on his worst day hes better than most vocalists. of course he was so dang cool, he would never admit it. this obviously is him at the top of his game. r.i.p
That's why when all the Layne fans say that Layne Staley was unequivocally the best singer of his generation, I like to remind people of Chris Cornell. Love Layne, too btw. The two were in a league all their own. With Scott Weiland close in tow.
Sean Ryan I definitely agree Sean. Vedder will always have a special place in my heart but for some reason lately I've been digging Cornell's stuff. I was always a big fan of Soundgarden anyway.
+joe leoni I think Cornells voice held up a little better than Eddies but only bc of the songs PJ put out at first like Alive and all those, he strained w/o thinking...they were just kids... and he put his voice and everything he had into each performance, they toured forever.. I feel bad for him in that way! I think hes still a damn good vocalist! Chris C voice got more down time and songs werent and hard on his vocal chords! Eddie was just like AAGHHHHHHH, lol, ( not being mean to either one, I love both of these guys)! Btw someone just took my It doesnt get EDDIE VEDDER than this shirt and im pissed : ÷/
I understand you're not being mean to either one, but I think Eddie Vedder's voice held up alot better than Chris's. In my opinion it's exactly the other way around. Don't forget this particular performance is 9 years ago, there's not much left of that 90s voice these days. He's still a great vocalist, but it's just alot diffrent and less intense.
Andy Reinisch The thing is that I think his lyrics have always meant something he was personally reconciling. We're are always battling until we aren't, right? Almost all of his songs that weren't directly written about other people seem to be a notation on life in the balance or death. That's one of the many reasons his music has always been like a best friend to me. I've philosophized or battled with same ghosts. I'm getting his likeness on my arm in January because his music has spoken to me for 25 years and that's longer then most people.
This performance means so much to me. Back in 2011, this was the only version of the song I could get on the UA-cam app on my Nokia E71. I listened to it incessantly. I was convinced this song had the best vocal part ever. It shaped so much of my musical tastes as a 14-year-old boy. If we're a product of our environment, then Chris and his music helped shape who I am today. Thank you, Chris, as the third anniversary of your passing nears. Though you may be gone, your voice will remain as strong as it ever was, continuing to inspire.
Poor, beautiful Chris. I see the same sadness in his eyes here, as right before he died :( He was in a rough spot here. and got through it. And then he didn't... :( Thank you for all the music Chris. Thank you for being so amazing in every way
truly sad. He was married here, and I think both his daughters would've been born at this stage (assuming this is around 2007-8?)... so in 2017 he was still in the same situation... he had so much to live for - it just adds speculation that he didn't intend to do it. I can't watch the vids of their final performance, but apparently he was really 'off' in that show, something was definitely wrong with him that night.
@@GlennSyndallius yeah he was in the middle of a severe benzo addiction. Ive battled heroin and benzos both...benzos make you act on things you normally wouldnt do. I told my girlfriends dad he was a fuck ass and tried fighting him in the street over 2 ice cream sandwiches in a xanax blackout. Not even joking, though that specific reference is funny. As someone who also battles depression like Chris, the benzos work...make you loose and fearless...until they dont. Then your just numb and fearless, and in a depressive episode or a fit of anger you could definitely commit suicide or wakeup handcuffed to a hospital bed. It happens alot sadly...but like opiates, the doctors are pulling millions of ppls prescriptions to them...which wont help the problem because that just creates a market for dealers to make their own with a pill press. You can also die from withdrawling from them. Fuck Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin and Valium. They bandaid the problem until its too late...just like opiates.
@@nothx962 hmmmm, but did he really have enough in his system for such a fatal decision?. And if he was into the benzos, surely his threshold would have been much higher. Sometimes even those closest to us have absolutely no idea of what is going on in our heads. My thoughts are having struggled with various addictions he possibly thought he could never beat it and so...Having parents who were alcoholics wouldn't have helped. Nature or nurture..we will never know
That's cause he blew his voice out and needed surgery to fix it. Which is why his voice was much deeper and went straight to distortion when he tried to hit any of his upper register. Right before he joined Audioslave he had to relearn how to sing because he couldn't belt anymore
You never know what you have till its gone! Always was a Soundgarden fan, Audioslave and on his own but I never realized just how great he was! Black days 💔
Omg this is so amazing.Every time I think I could not possibly love and worship this man more, I find another even more beautiful version of one of my favorite songs. he is THE GREATEST!!
This is my absolute song. I saw him live once and was disappointed he didn't play it. This is the second time I've heard a live performance of it. They are very different, the live and studio versions. I believe I get a different sort of enjoyment out of both. :O
He had such a beautiful awesome voice. There was nothing he couldn’t sing. Whether it was his song or someone else. He was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Forever in our hearts ♥️R.I.P. Beautiful Keeper 🙏🏽🕊 Thank you for sharing this beautiful video and keeping Chris memory alive. God Bless 🙏🏽
So very true Jennifer there will never be another beautiful voice like Chris again. I listen to him last night and couldn’t stop crying. I was thinking about his children. Watched Bad Can Do Good and Christopher looks just like Chris. He’ll always be with us through his music and children. That’s a lot of comfort ♥️🌹♥️
Jennifer Hartranft God Bless Jennifer and it’s hard. My sister is the same way she can’t listen to him right now. Pray you soon will. Take care Jennifer it was nice talking to you 🙏🏽♥️🌹♥️🥰
I saw him live in Winnipeg. I always loved Soungarden but I have to say, I didn't expect the show he put on. He was fucken awesome!! A true artist. A must see live.
Hey ! I like the voice he got now!! I'm from is prime time, i back in the late 80's and 90's area,. Altough you are still a great singer and a great influence for people!! Thanks Chris!!
Yeah, Chris has different vocals now, but still amazing vocals. As much as I cry for them to reunite, maybe it's better this way, cuz they ARE a legend because they managed to make everything so perfect and stunning. There are risk of spoiling it all, and nobody wants that, Chris said that too! But still...I would love to see them live This performance is cool too!
As if I had the time - and I don't - I find myself watching this every few days. I don't know what it is: Perhaps it's a longing for rock as it was until the early to mid-90s. I'm a child of the 60s and 70s, and the 80s, for the most part, was a lost decade. The bands that emerged in the early 90s resurrected - for me - a sound I'd been longing for. Now, on the verge of 2011, I wonder...are we just left with memories?
Follow me into the desert As thirsty as you are Crack a smile and cut your mouth And drown in alcohol Cause down below the truth is lying Beneath the riverbed So quench yourself and drink the water That flows below her head Oh, no there she goes Out in the sunshine the sun is mine I shot my love today, would you cry for me I lost my head again, would you lie for me I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand I lost my head again, would you cry for me Close your eyes and bow your head I need a little sympathy Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone Who isn't me So kill your health and kill yourself And kill everything you love And if you live you can fall to pieces And suffer with my ghost Just a burden in my hand Just an anchor on my heart Just a tumor in my head And I'm in the dark So follow me into the desert As desperate as you are Where the moon is glued to a picture of heaven And all the little pigs have God
just wanted to say thanks for posting these msn bits on here. This is a great performance. I've been a fan for a long time, but never had the chance to hear Chris or any of the bands in a venue. This is a treat.
Holy Cr*p...where's the " I f*ckin LOVE this" button?????
I've been listening to Cornell for almost twenty years. His voice still gives me chills every time I hear it.
mugflub same here he’s the goat
Well maybe not every time haha but more than any other singer out there for sure. At least for me
Always has me, too
Totally agree. He’s the best Stunning talent.
Now I cry every time I hear his voice...😿🌼
Chris sets the bar so high ..its hard to compare him with anything. even on his worst day hes better than most vocalists. of course he was so dang cool, he would never admit it. this obviously is him at the top of his game. r.i.p
That's where I aim.
Singing along with him.
I often fail
Brilliantly put

Why compare unique people with other unique peoples? You need Celine Dion in your life
His voice has held up even after over 25 years...one of the best voices of all time...him and Eddie
Sean Ryan I definitely agree Sean. Vedder will always have a special place in my heart but for some reason lately I've been digging Cornell's stuff. I was always a big fan of Soundgarden anyway.

Eddie's voice gave me life during a time when all I wanted to do was die...
Shanda Renee Wow that's touching. There's definitely a positivity with music. I would go as far as even saying hope coincides with it too.
Did anyone take a closer look at the bass lines in this song? HOLY FUCK!!!
Wow! Chris had such an amazing voice live . In my opinion he was and will always be the GOAT.
I can listen to this man all night (and day)..
crazy how these lyrics mean something so much different now

yes true...
Not really
He simply was the coolest, kindest, most humble, most majestic man I've ever encountered! What a loss. Forever missed.
Damn! I miss this voice!
How has it been two years?
My goodness, I miss this guy and his music..
Nearly in tears watching this!
Its so sad my dude, rip Chris
the voice of rock
RIP, your music will be heard for a long time

Provided by white collared Drug Dealers they are no better then Street Dealers RIP Chris gone way too soon pray for his family
God damn, his technique is Soo much more relaxed here vs when he was younger. Amazing.

Yes i will cry for you ....

Absolutely EPIC.. Chris Cornell at his absolute best.. Top 100 rock songs of all time for sure..

This for me is his best performance of this song.
Omg this is so amazing.Every time I think I could not possibly love and worship this man more, I find another even more beautiful version of one of my favorite songs. he is THE GREATEST!!
He was sick here and STILL sounded amazing, even at 60% he was light years ahead of most singers.....
That's what live sounds like. No backing tracks, pure raw talent.
i will always imagine a dude running alone with his guitar in the desert when i hear this song LOL. Great song and great video hehe :D
I love how he's just strolling around like he can do this in his sleep. Great singer!
Almost 30 years of your beautiful ass kickin music and now it hurts to hear and miss the greatness all at once Thank you Chris RIP!
You will be tremendously missed. My you now rest in peace.

The sound of life
"Would you cry for me?". Indeed, Christopher; very often... ❤❤❤❤
One of the most amazing voices ever.
Only 2 who move me to tears, him and Jeff Buckley. Grace would be on par with this genius song..RIP Chris and Jeff
The guy sing's like he did in the early 90's. That's just amazing. Awesome concert!
This is my absolute song. I saw him live once and was disappointed he didn't play it. This is the second time I've heard a live performance of it. They are very different, the live and studio versions. I believe I get a different sort of enjoyment out of both. :O

Amazing vocal performance, love this song.
Of the band, I usually find my self impressed with this bass player.
Major props towards MSN for constructing this. The camera shots are great as is the sound.

One of My Favorite Songs!
The Official rocks but LIVE slices it !
It’s 🔥💯
Yes he was just amazing... and now he's just so missed!
I couldn't agree more...
This song rips my soul out
Amazing!!
That is so excellent!!!!
AMAZING
What a voice...love this.
Follow me into the desert
As thirsty as you are
Crack a smile and cut your mouth
And drown in alcohol
Cause down below the truth is lying
Beneath the riverbed
So quench yourself and drink the water
That flows below her head
Oh, no there she goes
Out in the sunshine the sun is mine
I shot my love today, would you cry for me
I lost my head again, would you lie for me
I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand
I lost my head again, would you cry for me
Close your eyes and bow your head
I need a little sympathy
Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
Who isn't me
So kill your health and kill yourself
And kill everything you love
And if you live you can fall to pieces
And suffer with my ghost
Just a burden in my hand
Just an anchor on my heart
Just a tumor in my head
And I'm in the dark
So follow me into the desert
As desperate as you are
Where the moon is glued to a picture of heaven
And all the little pigs have God
😔
Oh god these guys are amazing live
just wanted to say thanks for posting these msn bits on here.
