    Crappie are my first love and I absolutely love this collection of footage. My first real successful and memorable fishing experience was on a dock on Georgian Bay in May with several 16" crappies hitting the planks as I suspended live minnows on an ultralight. Then, the bite shut down in an instant. What was I doing wrong? I hadn't changed anything. A couple of minutes passed... WHAM! A northern pike savaged my minnow, and he broke me off in an instant. Okay crappies, I understand now.

    Love crappie. They are great fishing, great eating, and definitely the one fish that almost never has a single parasite in the meat (Black spot/yellow grub).
    Almost all the bluegill and perch I catch- regardless of the location- have some sort of parasites

    Great footage. That Muskie or Pike came out of nowhere and nailed that crappie 🤩 👍

      Glad you enjoyed it! Did you enjoy this unscripted version vs. one that's narrated? I'm putting my own voice to this for next week. Hate the way I sound! Honestly, I prefer watching videos clean and without subtitles. Relaxing to watch, and I start to notice little things that make fish of all species hit.

      @@thefish-eyeview7733 Well tbh I like the narrated a little better because you point out things someone like I (going from just fishing to targeting types of fish) or someone completely new to fishing may not notice.

    Hey you should try some scents underwater. I use berkley crappie scent it doesnt stick much but actually works great compared to other brands. It would be cool to see them react underwater to different scent profiles

    • @thefish-eyeview7733
      @thefish-eyeview7733  3 роки тому +5

      Yes you're right! When they hit a scented bait they really hold on tight and swim away with it. I use unscented baits (even wash them clean of any) to get those repeated hits on camera. Roll a bait in my hands - they hit and spit instantly - never come back for more. That's a great idea!! - 'Scent Profiles' - will do this year. God Bless you with good health and good times on the water. Rick

    Where I fish there's a spot hard to get to with a nice shady small berry like bearing tree and there's always ,i kid you not something breaking the water , I'm an inexperienced fisher but I caught two small crappie right there on worm an bobber on a bad set up , now I will go back after watching this with more thought put into it . Thank you very much

      Enjoy! That's what fishing is all about - just as much fun with the simplest of tackle. I often overthink and overcomplicate things, which takes away from the experience. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Good idea -already have some recorded with a wide angle lens. Still, I like to get up close and personal if they let me. Going to offer some the best 4K stuff on USB hubs. You should see these on a large screen 4K TV!! Absolutely no comparison to youtube streaming! You can literally count the annual rings on their scales to age the fish. I have long, unbroken, unscripted footage I watch to relax - like having an aquarium with my favourite game fish. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    What type of knot do you use on the jigs (loop, clinch)?

    • @thefish-eyeview7733
      @thefish-eyeview7733  3 роки тому +2

      I use a improved clinch knot nearly all the time. Probably because I'm in a hurry and lazy. With fluorocarbon, which I use exclusively now, you need a really good knot to avoid 'slippage'. Man that line is slippery and unties under pressure! Improved clinch 10 times around is what I do. And I don't trim it too closely - fish don't care it there's a 1/2 inch of extra tag line. There are likely better knots out there that I'm unaware of, I admit. Thanks for watching and commenting! Rick

    Do you not use hooks?

    • @thefish-eyeview7733
      @thefish-eyeview7733  3 роки тому +2

      No, I seldom use hooks during filming. That way they hit more than once and I can experiment with different baits and techniques. I also feel strongly about leaving all the fish I film behind for others to enjoy. I do like to fish and eat fish myself, but do that in other places where filming isn't really feasible. Thanks for watching and commenting! Rick
