Gordon could take a stroll through Cave Johnson-era Aperture Science and the only thing he'd likely notice would be realizing where those missing astronauts went in an "Oh, I always wondered what happened to them." in the same manner of someone finding a lost frisbee on the roof after three years.

      sunk cost fallacy isn't really a thing here because he made progress through the building, switching buildings would be stupid because he would start himself off back at square one but this time with less ammo and the same chances as before of needing ammo, but by continuing the same building he doesn't start back at square one. generally if you walk into any building and kill everyone in the room numbering 6 people for a total of like 11 if you account for the people dead before you got there, you can rest assured that more than 50% of the people in the building are currently dead, walk into a new building afterwards and you'll likely have to start all over with the only potential benefit to hope for being that maybe over 50% of the people in the new building are dead before you get there which usually isn't the case from my experience. One in the hand is worth more than two in the bush.

    Gordon makes a good point about the Resistance. They've got great ingenuity, but not nearly enough productive capacity to make the most of it-partly because the Combine is so omnipresent, they're constantly forced underground or into the very fringes of the outlands, and aside from maybe communication, their forces are exceptionally fragmentary... Most of them are just refugees trying to survive, after all.

On one hand it would make since that the combine wouldn't a army people with military experience to roam around with free will But at the same time they seem to be the only way the rebellion would be able to have any chance at achualy succeeding in reality. I mean the only person with achual "confirmed" military experience in the resistence is colonel cabbage and his Fate up to the uprising is rather ambiguous. Ammo is limited in this section of the game so I'm sure he'll come around to using the Gravity Gun later in this chapter, I'm looking forward to his reaction to the other types of zombies/headcrabs and how he'll deal with them.

    2:51 If the Resistance had the Gravity Gun when Ravenholm was shelled then I'm guessing someone used it to kill a zombie there. Don't recall if the Gravity Gun is the only one of its kind or if the Resistance made a few of them considering their original use for clearing minefields and the like.
    At least, that's what I think might have actually happened in the shack other than just letting the player know that they can use the sawblades as very deadly ammo for the Gravity Gun.

    I like how you can see the exact moment at 0:50, where they used trigger_teleport + info_landmark to make seamless transition for spliced maps, but you can also see the trash decal on the floor disappearing when Ross steps into the trigger (guess mapper forgot to add the decal on other side where player gets teleported to).

    • @eyedine
      @eyedine 2 роки тому +4

      how are you so confidently incorrect? trigger_teleport has nothing to do with level transitions. That's trigger_changelevel and trigger_transition. What are you talking about lmao.

      @@eyedine since Ross has someone helping him modifying the maps, these maps were most likely spliced together for better continuity. As a mapper, I can tell from experience. I’m actually kinda stunned this doesn’t have more views right now. Maybe it will, once a couple more episodes come out, y’know, some game journalist will say, “Oh that Freeman’s Mind series is finally at Ravenholm and it’s just as funny as when first started” and the episodes will retroactively pick up traction.
    Still, I figured this would have more popularity than “Mage Knight Apocalpyse” video which came out right after this one. I guess less you have a much larger young audience base (that never knew about Freeman’s Mind before) than I thought, which is also cool.
