But it was obviously health related.A tearful Buster Keaton said at Stans funeral that some said Chaplin was the funnest but in fact it was this man Stan Laurel that was the Funnest. Rip Stan & Babe
Indeed. Stan’s own health was not too good at the time, and his doctor realized that the emotional strain of attending Babe’s funeral might literally kill him, so he forbade Stan from going. And Laurel went "Why certainly, I am Oliver Hardy!" At which the clerk told him that he knew all their movies and inquired to what had happened to Stan Laurel. At which Laurel told him that Stan had died recently. At which the clerk went about what a shame it was, such a genius of comedy. Laurel made no efforts to reveal who he really was and cried tears of happiness knowing that his legacy would continue and he did it all while pretending to be Hardy, in doing so lovingly giving Hardy all the credit.

"no sex drugs references" There actually were a lot of sex and drugs references in pre-1935 entertainment. Cab Calloway, for instance, singing about drugs was generally considered by his white and black fans to be basically cute and fun. Marlene Dietrich kissed another woman in Morocco (1930), Greta Garbo kissed another woman in Queen Christina (1933), Barbara Stanwyck had to change her clothes down to her bra so often in Night Nurses (1931) because... people wanted to see her in her bra. Myrna Loy was raped by a handsome guy, and decided she liked the guy, in The Barbarian (1933), and cheerfully announced her attraction to underage males in Love Me Tonight (1932). All this sort of stuff was when Americans weren't going to see something like Tabu (1931) with all its nudity instead.

I'm an adult man in my early twenties and I only started watching them in the last month or two. WOW. Never have I ever laughed so much at comedy, apart from maybe Chaplin, who is certainly a close second in terms of laughs per minute (LPM).
As I child and young teen I used to watch these two late at night. Sometimes it was two movies back to back and other times one of the movies would be: Charlie Chan, WC Fields, The Little Rascals, etc.
What an incredible duo...I grew up with laughter watching them. All my respect to them as comedians and great people. R.I.P. Stanley and Ollie, and thank you for the great moments...
No foul language, no nudity, no offensive scenes, no grotesque scenes, and even no sound These two Gentlemen brought joy to millions, silent movies or the talkes, growing up in the sixties their films were staple viewing, and you never tire watching them. These two men were the funniest guys that ever lived, so before their time, original comedy at its best , without having to be rude or piss taking like comedians of today, legends
Those guys were my favorites. They used to show clips of them all the time, at Shakey's Pizza and it were the best times when I were a kid. Those guys just looking at them makes you feel good inside, just being themselves. Not anything like Hollyweird today. They were something that you will never see again; unless you watch them again on screen.

Their films which were aired in our national television, were funny moments in my childhood!
They brought no little joy into the world. Legends of early comedic cinema.
generations of people just loved them and continue to do so
The legends. RIP both of them.
Brilliant,a pair of legends, .
Did you notice they acted on instinct when pointing back at the young man at the same time. Must have gotten along famously.
Will always be Stan and Ollie they were the king's of comedy wht duo after all these year's people still watch all of there shorts they make me laugh
AMAZING!!! Thanks for this!
È irriconoscibile Olio così magro. Tutti e due imortali, quante risate. .....Due grandi artisti.
What an incredible duo...I grew up with laughter watching them. All my respect to them as comedians and great people. R.I.P. Stanley and Ollie, and thank you for the great moments...
Us too. Loved these two crazy guy's xxxxxx
I bet it would blow their mind to know people are still watching them in 2019.
and in 2119 also....😊
It take's something to still be extremely funny 90 years later
@Carl Green yes 😉
because today's tv is full of shit and commercials... ;-)
I loved Stan Laurel and their act as a kid. Buster Keaton is another who is just hysterical.
No foul language, no nudity, no offensive scenes, no grotesque scenes, and even no sound
These two Gentlemen brought joy to millions, silent movies or the talkes, growing up in the sixties their films were staple viewing, and you never tire watching them.
My Dad was into photograph and I remember he had a number of 8mm film, no sound, and when he got the projector out we'd always want to watch atleast one of the silent laurel and hardy films.
Yes. I was born in 69 and Dad and Grandpa both loved the old reruns. Well I do suppose grandpa watched them the first time around. In the theater.
We aint in saudi arabia
@@jimmymalone9139 What has that got to do with anything?
@@jimmymalone9139 What?!
I know such a shame
My grandmother got Stanley's autograph when he stayed at the central hotel probably around the 1930s in Glasgow,,we still have it .
Wow! What a treasure!!
Would you ever consider selling it to me
It belongs to my mother,,,dont really know if it ever would be for sale,,it is writtem on an old glasgow central hotel menu from that era.
That's amazing!! Never lose that!
Holy moly. You should laminate it and put it in a safe as the treasure it is
now these 2 humble men are TRULY THE KINGS OF COMEDY !!!!!!
I wanna hug them so badly
Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy & The Three stooges will never come again. Thanks for bringing smiles. The Great Comedy Legend Ever!
L&H best double ack ever hard act to follow they where legends, icons.
Morcombe and wise.
Too bad Chaplin had to be such a commie though.
Not mention Harold Lloyd..he did all his own stunts.
Not to forget Ben Turpin!
Two gentle geniuses

I could not agree more ! My all time favorite comedy duo ! :-)
If ever there was a perfect comment this is it
These two men were the funniest guys that ever lived, so before their time, original comedy at its best , without having to be rude or piss taking like comedians of today, legends
I think Stan Laurel had one of the kindest faces I have ever seen. A beautiful human being.
I agree! I remember watching them as a kid and thinking how nice Stan was. Of course I never knew him, but as a kid I felt like I did.
Stan was born only 10 miles away from where I lived in Cumbria England.
He was a natural proper gentleman
I agree. Just one of the sweetest faces ever. :)
Isn't this literally a line from Busy Bodies? "You've got a kind face" haha
Said Stan Laurel, "If you cry at my funeral, I will never speak to you again".
:)
Totally agree, Michael. I have some Laurel and Hardy on disc, just to remember them. No matter how many times I watch them, they still make me laugh and forget all my troubles.
Pat McCarthy , I truest love what you said or he said .god bless him .
This made me smile.... It makes perfect sense.
Breaks my heart to see this, but that's life. Cherish their memories and keep on laughing. The funniest men to walk the earth
BEYOND DOUBT
Breaks my heart to see these two comic geniuses like this too, however their body of work will live on as long as people recognize true talent and want to laugh!
I remember BBC 2 used to show them on TV after I got home from school when small I liked it when Stan used to star I think her name was Bibi playing both there wife in the comedy film series and had a temper on her.
so very sad ua-cam.com/video/7AredOYzaZk/v-deo.html
Your'e so right Peter! God gave us the gift of eternal laughter when he paired these two lovely men together! xx
Pure geniuses that could make you laugh without even saying a word. That’s what made them comedy legends.
Couldn't have said it better myself !
There was no sound that time.I was born in 1947. I got married 1966. Black and white pics.. I am 74 now. I have lived that time. The best time ever.
So happy to hear that my friend! You deserve the joyful memories and pride you earned.
This 2000's generation is not so good - to full of selfish greed, and destructive media manipulation by the very people you raised and protected.

Watching this reminds me of how awful the world has become.
***** You have to be kidding me if you think the world was just as bad back then as it is today. How old are you?
Ah the good old days...when there was no hatred and you could leave your back door open....blah blah blah
sturdeehouse Much less hatred, and yes, you could actually leave your doors unlocked because neighbors were all friends, and they watched out for each other.
***** Show me where I said the world was "perfect" .. I never said anything even close. I just said the world is much worse now, and if you think that it isn't, you are the one that is gullible.

Their body's are aged, but they spirit and compassion shine STRONG!!!
They might age, their humor will never do so.
The greatest comedy duo of all time. Loved by my grandfather, my father, me and now my son. That says it all.
It's 2022, we don't get to see masterpieces like these anymore sadly.
Here’s to another year of subversive and degenerate entertainment in 2023 and beyond! Thank you Hollywood!
you're kidding right?
Exactly no need for vulgar humor just pure clean fun the best ever
there will never be another Laurel and Hardy
Stan Laurel was from Manchester and he And Charlie Chaplin came to The US on The Ship same ship with the Fred Karno Troop. They became great friends until Charlie was discovered and Stan did his great movie shorts with Ollie. Good Footage of Stan and Ollie. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 RIP to them Both.
I'm a black man who loves watching LAUREL and HARDY as a kid growing up in England 'cause they would show them on British T.V in the seventies. So seeing this clip of these two in their later years brought a tear in my eye because they ment so much to me and they still do.This rare home footage of them just being silly for the camera and entertaing a friend got me chuckling a bit.R.I.P, STAN LAUREL and OLIVER HARDY.
Why is being black significant?
Colin, do you remember them also showing Harold Lloyd and Tarzan, both in old black and white? They used to show good old TV shows.
Oh yeah, do you remember the rocket man show too?
I’m a white man but what the fuck has either of our colours got to do with anything??????
I'm a white man who approves of this message.
@@onepalproductions can you tell us why it might be? Do you remember the police-race riots in London in 1981? Do you remember how black people were portrayed on British TV back then? Tell us what you think taking those all together be might have felt it relevant to say that?
