Whoa this looks incredible! I didn't even know custom mapping was a thing in Rimworld until this moment. You have no idea how excited I am to try some of these out!
Thank you! Glad you like it. Honestly it's been fun expirementing with creating them and such. I have much more maps available on my discord if you are ever interested!
Explosions give a bit more realism to how worn down it is, especially if they’re ancient fortresses who’ve seen actual explosions. Although I do always reseal them as to be secure ancient dangers.
It would be great to see a guide on how to do something like this. With a mod for custom map borders, it would be possible to make the map even bigger and more beautiful. Although something tells me that even my powerful computer would not be able to handle such a load
Actually, one of my newver videos: Cathedral includes me talking over and explaining every bit of what I am doing. Feel free to check it out. I have made maps in the past with Better Map Sizes, including some 450 x 450s and 500 x 500s

This map is really awesome. Could you explain me how to download and use them? I never tried anything like that before and I am afraid I might do something wrong and break my game. I will even sub so I can get notifed when you create more maps.
Of course, it's pretty simple. You can unzip the folder on github. Take the .rws file, drop it into your saves folder in Rimworld. Then you just go into the game, hit Load Game, and you will see it there. I am basically sharing a save file, you can edit colonists with the mod Character Editor, you can also copy and paste the terrain with the mod Save Maps to like a different start (if you want to do like a mechanator start or something. Enjoy!
I would love to know how to make a map like this. Are there mods you need to use to edit, how do you edit a map? Would be cool if you made a how to video on it!
I use a few mods, but i rely heavily on dev tools which are mostly base game. 1. I load up a map usually editing it with the mods Map Designer (+Map Preview) and occasionally Geological Landforms. This lets me get a nice start as I can control stone and water spawn. 2. After I load into the game, Dev Tools comes into play. Primarily the base game command Set Terrain (Lets you place like gravel, soil, waters and such.) As well as Make Rock (which is provided by Vanilla Expanded Framework) which lets you place down all rocks and ores (Even modded ones). After that its just a matter of designing and such. There are other dev tools, Gen Step can let you regrow all plants. Spawn Thing can let you place like geysers and such. And God Mode lets you create builds, although I use a mod that lets me unclaim them as they are just ruins. _____ Eventually I will make a how to.
No randomly generalized map can compare to this map, incredible work. By the way, I'm new to Github, I don't see where it says "download", do you know how to download your map? I would love to create a colony there.
Hiya, thank you so much. When you’re on the GitHub page, you should see a green button that says Code. If you press it you get a drop-down that says download zip. You can use that to get the .rws file. From there you can just drop the .rws file into your saves folder and load it up.
What a jaw-dropping map, you're amazing! After watching your banger of a video, I got inspired into trying my hand in editing a map. I loaded my basically glitterworld level colony, sent a guy to a new tile to settle down, sent him back home and started editing the map, in hopes of creating a perfect location to move my colony over. But I've run into an issue: It seems that the game pre-renders the moving water animations for the rivers, and creating new water_moving_shallow/chest-deep tiles just result in static, often glitchy looking tiles. Have you found any work-around for this? Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately I’ve never been able to find a fix for it and just tend to let it exist. The water gets treated as water_shallow and water_chestdeep. Thank you, I wish the best on your map making adventures.

Thank you, all the music is free licensed and listed in the description.
I loved how you built the ancient's robot thingy and then blew it up to pieces to get the vibes just right lol

I didn’t even know you could terraform like this, this is so cool

The thousands of 0 and 1s in my computer making a specific map to screw me over after not using mods to start a game
First rule of rimworld, the game is your biggest enemy.
@@WhatsUnknwn Second rule of rimworld, dont talk about rimworld
@TheRealKiRBEY don’t talk about rimworld without context infront of people who don’t know about rimworld.
@@WhatsUnknwnfr tho i remember talking to someone about my tribe of cannibal slavers with specifying it was in rimworld

Nicee for some reason the island looks like a boomalope
Haha, I guess it could be seen like that.
Perhaps having a Boomalope cult would be an ideal playthrough.
