Looks delicious - Cod and Salmon is a great choice for fish pie. Perfect timing too with winter round the corner, plenty of pies and stews to come 😋
Thanks Yano Cooks :)
You can also keep the water you boiled your potatoes in, cool it, and use it to water your plants! Especially houseplants 🪴😉👍
I made this dish today. It was lovely. My husband gave me 12 out of 10 and said it was restaurant quality! Just to say everything we have made so far from your Dinner book and UA-cam has been exceptional. Thank you.
Just tried it, Chef. Everybody is now floating in "an abnormal state of contented joy". Cannot thank you enough.! 🙏💖
As a man of 57 I really enjoy cooking just lately & your channel inspires me . Many thanks paul
Isn't it funny how us blokes go through life doing egg and bacon or letting the wife do all the cooking, then when we start getting old we really begin to like cooking and actually look forward to it.
@@Christophers-Assorted-Stuff My dad was one of the last few who had to do national service in the UK. Army taught him cooking, cleaning, sewing. He signed up twice. He and my mother would split the work and he became an excellent cook/mechanic. I've always enjoyed cooking I think because of his example.
I use cod and smoked haddock which gives a smokiness to it. I always make too much sauce just in case. My tip, after you pour the sauce and mix, I then put a layer of raw spinach over which stops the potato melting into the sauce.
Thank you bsmith very cool
I tried it with cod and smoked haddock too. It was sublime.
Oh man I was planning on adding spinach aswell! 👍🏻
👌🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I follow your recipes because of your presentation manners, straightforward and quick, with no dramas no jargon
I can’t believe all the criticisms. She made it, you make it your own or move on. I never had it but it gave me an idea about a dish to make MY WAY.. thank you
Where exactly are the criticism? I read the comments, i dont/didn't see any
Same.....i didnt see any either lol....she may be reading things wrong
Always ignore the trolls! This recipe looks delicious!❤️
Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining. So sad.
What are you talking about???? Everybody loves it, so do I
There’s not a single recipe I wouldn’t want to make. Her easy, friendly, explanations and demonstrations are so motivating!!
Been making mine exactly the same way for years too! My only difference is I add chopped parsley and dill to the sauce
I always add some smoked fish too.
That's why I love being Brazilian and I love living in Brazil, we season our food very well...
So you can't season Brazilian food anywhere else in the world?
@@EhsanMusic So, green onions, parsley, coriander, tomatoes, all types of peppers and so many other types of seasonings grow in our backyards. We always season our food very well with fresh, green vegetables.
@@antediluvian2380 no what I'm trying to say is that you said basically you can't season Brazilian food anywhere else in the world except in Brazil
I always use this video as a base for when I forget what I need and then I just adjust. I made this recipe the first time and it was brilliant.
I’ve made this a few times it’s my new go to and my family love it. It’s so good I’ve made it for company too! And I’m not a fish person so that’s high praise from me! I do add a little bacon which I cook in the pan before the roux, I like the saltiness it adds. And I add a mirepoix to get some veggies in there.
My 1st time making a fish pie,
I’ve been through lots of recipes and chosen yours as it looks so tasty and yet so simple!
Thank you 🙌
Because I was born in Basque Province, I'm familiar with Cod. Now that I live in California, I'm familiar with Salmon. And adding Prawns to the casserole makes for a fabulous trio. Adding aged cheddar and double cream makes the casserole a winner. Thank you for your brief and easy to follow video. My wife says she will substitute with white cauliflower mash with olive oil added. We're on a lower carbon menu. Thanks again. We understand your dedication.
This is very similair to my recipe too, using a mix of salmon , prawns and naturally smoked white fish adds a extra dimension to it.
I tried a slightly different version using a mix of potato and sweet potato mash and not smoked fish, and a slightly curried sauce for the fish , I poached it in some stock plus some /curry powder, chilli and spices (not too much) then added some crème fraisce. I though it might be crap but it was really good served with some green beans.
I absolutely love you for this recipe. I moved away from the UK a long time ago and this brought a taste of home to my Finnish child who absolutely went crazy over this dish! Thank you so much
Just cooked this and it's fantastic. Your presentation was excellent and made things very easy.. Thank you
Did this yesterday for my wife and I. Bloody delicious. Combination of Blue Cod (I'm in NZ), Ling and fresh prawns (not shrimps).
Amazing.
Fantastic!
A nice, tasty, simple and wholesome dish for this time of year (Jan) - I will be cooking it.....tonight!
This looks absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to try to make it! Thanks!
Simply delicious 🤤 I tried this recipe and it was a banger 🔥🔥thank you love for this recipe
Nutmeg always with milk and potatoes. So much tastier that way. 😊
Actually some tarragon goes well with this also.)
My family just love this recipe! So, I'm here again 😂 (can't keep a recipe in my head!) 😚
I’ve scoured through here for a fish pie & you are truly amazing as this is sooo uncomplicated
THANK YOU 🙏 XX
Made this a few times it's delicious,so making it again today .😋👍👍
I was also concerned about the lack of seasoning in this recipe, but I tried it today and just added what I thought was needed according to my tase, and it came out really nice! I think this is a great recipe add what you want according to your tase.
I’m guessing you’re American... we don’t over season our food, preferring to let the flavours of the fish and other ingredients speak for themselves... unless you actually tried the dish the way it was made , you should. not make a comment about it’s lack of seasoning..!!
No, I am very much British my lovely... and like I said, it is down to PERSONAL TASTE - enjoy your unseasoned fish pie :)

Hi from Romania! Thank you so much for this recipe, we have just finished eating this and it was delicious. I also added some smoked mackerel and followed the rest of the recipe to the letter. It reminds me of our fantastic vacation in Britain... long gone in the Covid era...Great job!
Sounds great!
Wow, would love to taste this pie. Looking wholesome and nutritious. Thank you for sharing 👍
I made it today and it’s really delicious. Thank you for your great family recipes ❤🎉
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Many thanks
You make it look easy full of information and great choices to can use
Thanks
Thank you so very much for this fantastic recipe. We have made this five times now and every time it’s been perfect, I have saved it to my “save and watch later file” so I don’t have to keep hunting for the recipe each time we make it. We just upped the quantities for feed all the family and we normally add smoked yellow haddock to it but this is the best fish pie recipe we found. It’s so easy and so tasty. Before finding this recipe I was never a lover of fish pie but this soon changed my mind. Thank you so very much and I can’t wait to try some more of your great looking recipes x
Very nice indeed. I've always popped a quartered boiled egg into my fish pie and put a teaspoon of English mustard into the sauce.
Cracking job KS.
Egg is a very nice addition, but it means you can't freeze it.
Made this recipe and it was really delicious and my family loved it!
excellent recipe, easy to follow and make. Tastes great, just a few veg and plenty left over to go in the freezer. Think this makesa great meal for 4 to 6 people and doesn't too much
Can’t wait to try this out! Thanks for explaining it so well! ❤️
You are so welcome!
Me too looks fab.
As a male who is not great in the kitchen, I followed your instructions to the letter and it was yummy!!! Thank you.
I am Iranian and I had fish pie like 5 seconds ago after couple of years that I was living in here. milk and cream, at all any diary products are absolutely prohibited to consume in combination with fish not because of myth of getting pigmentation but because of the imbalances in their nature. btw it was exactly spot on. tnx
Absolutely delicious looking and without a doubt tasting also😌🙏
Kind wishes from a beach in SE Asia
Great as usual. I’m making this dish right now with my phone on following your steps. I like all your cooking videos and your no. 1 go to now Thanks 👍

This looks soooooooo amazing!!
I had fish pie for the first time at the uk restaurant recently. I was surprised when I saw this first time because this "pie" is not looking "pie" I expected. But it was so delicious and I tried it at home with your recipe. Your recipe is amazing 👏 😍 and I'd like to try another your recipe during the 2nd lockdown. Thank you!
And yet the UK's cuisine is derided at being rubbish. If only they knew, but glad you got to try it.
Let me guess.....pie.....you are from the US?
Just made it added parsley to sauce and next time I’ll make more mash. But a lovely recipe 👌
Try your mixer with the whisk for mash. No going back! Thanks for all the inspiration.
I’m really excited about tasting this! Brilliant recipe, good English food!
Klaus
My boys love sweet corn added to the sauce.
I add haddock, mussels and calamari.
A tsp of English mustard with cheese sauce too.
Very simple, looks great.
However I'll be making it EXACTLY the way Marco says in the Knorr video 👍🏻
Such a lovely recipe! Delicious! Thank you for sharing it!
I can see why it's Award Winning!🤗🤗😋 looks soooo delicious. Thank you.
Looks a fantastic recipe, will be trying this out later today. Thank you
If I can offer a small tip - rather than make a plain white sauce, turn it into a Bechamel. Into the milk, a couple of hours or more before you will want to use it, add an onion, peeled, and halved. Stick about 6 cloves into the onion, and put in the milk with a couple of Bay Leaves, and 6 - 10 black pepper corns. Bring to a simmer, for 5 mins or so, then put aside to cool and absorb. The herb flavours enrich the final produce enormously. Most do not use them in the final sauce, but remover before adding the flavoured milk to the roux. However, I leave them through the entire process, removing when the pie is put together, to get maximum flavour addition.
Do you have a channel?
@@DSherman50 No. I dont know how to make one :-)
That really is lovely! Going to try it tonight!
Hope you enjoy it!
Turned out splendidly! My wife loved it!
Thank you so much for this it was super easy to follow. My husband has an allergy to a lot of herbs like sage and dill so it’s nice to have a recipe that tastes great without them ❤
Jamie oliver made a fish pie and use spinach at the very bottom, will probably combine his approch with yours, wish me luck
Good luck!
Just made this earlier this evening. Added a can of sweet corn which gave this a certain "Je ne sais quoi"... I appreciate all your recipes which I find very easy to follow. Thank you from Germany!
Wonderful!
This looks delicious 😋 I’m going to make it today 👍
Amazing recipe and video. Underrated channel. Keep it up :)
Made it for my mom she loved it
This looks amazing. Can almost smell it. Thx for the well paced cooking lesson. Will definitely try this.
So nice of you
If you use a smoked fish too, it gives the sauce an amazing flavour
Just doing it with Smoked Cod and Basa fillet and the prawns of course. Thank you.
Amazing. but im going to leave the fish skin on. Im a maverick! I like to add a tad of mustard powder and a smidgen of grated nutmeg and freshly chopped parsley into the sauce and skip the cheese. only putting the cheese on the top. Serve with petti pois peas and sliced tomato.
I like to put two hard boiled eggs and peas in the mixture.
Much prefer a gratin topping of grated Emmenthal cheese and panko breadcrumbs mixed together rather than mash. It gives a great crunchy topping and texture to an otherwise smooth and creamy dish.
Wow look jummy ! I am going to make it for my son . Surely he is very like . Thank you very much
Fish in fish pie. No way 😱😱
Oh lovely! Thank you!
