The sound when flipping the phone is actually a great idea! And I’ve just remembered that the Samsung flip phones from back in the day used to have that
If you got the EARLY early deal to trade in the base Z Flip 3 for the Z Flip 4 for only $99, It was a no brainer. Bigger battery, faster charging, more ram, double the storage and subtle improvements in build quality. On top of that you were given enough credits to get a new watch and buds for basically pennies on the dollar, not to mention a free case.

I need to engage the Samsung notifications since I did not get it. Looking at the website, trading in flip3 now is going to cost $299. I'll wait for the next upgrade, possibly the fold

Iphone designs haven't changed in 3 years so the flip 3 and flip 4 being the same size isn't that big of a problem
you can't compare iphone with flip series.. but compare it with S series.. the S series also haven't changed

I was waiting for this review! I agree that price is too high and it's not a flagship phone. I was thinking about getting it (currently on the S20+) but I think I'ma pass and wait for the S whatever is next 🤦🏽♀️😂😂 Sidebar for floss: I love these videos because I get to hear that NYC accent (I'm from Southside Jamaica Queens too) and I don't hear it a lot in Austin, TX 😁
Once Samsung takes full advantage of that outer display, address the battery, improve the cameras and add Dex the Flip series will be a monster. But Samsung won't do it because of the Fold series, from a selling point they'd probably increase the price because it'll sway users away from the more expensive fold series. If they made those improvements they'd probably increase the price by $200-$300. But to actually interact with the entire phone while it's still closed with be very very very nice.
It's funny cause the flip 5 is coming Wednesday and it's gonna have a full outer display and samsung dex
Got mine on Friday and waiting to see how battery life is after my classes on Monday, but so far it's doing well for the weekend. Will say a bigger camera upgrade would've been good but they're not terrible.

I think while almost everything is a minor upgrade, the battery alone makes it an upgrade you need even for $500. Like you said the battery for the flip 3 was so bad. I have to have it on battery saver all the time.

Full say with the Flip 4 today, exactly the same usage as on the 3, woke up at 9am and I'm on 35% at almost 8pm.
I'd have to charge the Flip 3 around 2pm. That's made it worth.

Honestly my Flip 3 battery life has gotten a little better after the August update, but I'm super excited for the 4!

Thanks for a thorough review once again Flossy. I tried to wait for it before purchasing it, but I had to take advantage of the limited offer for a free phone with my trade in through my carrier. I switched from the Note20 Ultra, which I loved, but it's been proving to be too big to fit in the smaller women's purses on trend right now. Lol. The battery life is a disappointment. I already notice the difference today, day 2 of use for me. But I have chargers everywhere, so I can deal with it. And no charger included. That's bogus like you said. But I really like the flip feature and the ability to put it in a micro purse if I wanted to. Next purchase, a blingy case. I got a free, boring pink one. Not feeling it. Have a good week and shout out to White Shoes.
I love the fact Flossy out here stressing $1000. Bro you’re selling us a $700 phone for $1000 and not giving us the $1000 red carpet. “Back in my day” $600 phone purchase meant I was getting at least something something to make me feel like it was worth it.

for my Fold 3 - 512gb (kind of ticked off fold 4 still no pen silo yet).. on your Petty Roosevelt gripes maybe mention how Samsung doesn't pay you extra when you have the better storage options on the phone that you trade in at all.
That's what I did with my s21 ultra I traded it for 1000 for the s22 ultra with the free memory upgrade package for 256 gigs for 199 I took that deal hard to pass up now I own the s22 ultra green galactus alpha omega Supreme !!!

More memory is an upgrade to me for the same price of a 128 g... camera is slightly better but not much difference but I still love the phone and I also use the s pen alot and I'd rather have it housed in the phone than carrying it on the side

Dex DOES require hardware. It needs USB 3.0 or better speeds over the USB port, and the Flip phones are just USB 2.0 speed :/ Wireless dex is still available, though, because that is actually mostly software.
I love that this phone uses same cases and has same feel as the 3. Major physical changes are just a way for the companies to make more money on cases and accessories. I got what I want with this one, which is a better battery for $200. I would have paid $500.
Can you really use the same cases as the 3? I've heard mix reviews

I just got mine on Wednesday I love it so far.
I have a Flip3, absolutely love it as my daily driver and work from home. I sail for fun so a phone that's on me and will NOT fall out of pockets is important. This form factor is it. Will skip this upgrade but definitely going for the next one. Still on the fence moving over to the fold series though, which does not work well for someone on the move alot, but is awesome otherwise.
Coming from 5 years of really big phones I love my Flip 4! 🤗
Are you gonna take a look at the Moto Razr?? Definitely have been admiring the foldabales and trying to decide between the Flip vs the Razr.. Whenever the hell it gets on this side...or if I should hold out for the S23 Ultra or even the Pixel 7. I did pre-order the Flip, but may be thinking about returning it. IM upgrading from a Note 9😳
I really wanted to grab one of these but I went with Galactus because it's just the best phone in the market. Still, I might give it a shot in the next two years when they release the Z Flip6 and it gets massive upgrades on resistance and such.

Great review Floss, thanks. About the flip3 covers, I read everywhere that they actually dont fit perfectly. Like flash and mics slightly misaligned. Will you cover that in a case review?
Our hands naturally rest on the back of our phone, so I don't think the cover screen being half of the back of the phone is a good idea. Just a thought.
Why would your hand resting on part of the cover screen while open be detrimental? Unless your hands are made of diamond drill tips..

Nice phone but completely agree, 1000 euro for this phone is TGH!!!. Samsung, google and apple are charging massive amounts for phones with nothing special in the box when u buy it. Also the fact samsung is still so behind fast charging is shocking

Yeah you're right they're all 8gb but the Z Flip 4 still runs buttery smooth and the speakers are very loud nice bass and everything I was like wow they sound a lot better than my Galaxy s22 Ultra

@@DanielaP318 yeah I took it off the charger this morning around 10:00 and I was using a little bit at work today and now I'm watching law & order SVU on my Z flip 4 and it's still going strong at 23% it's sipping the battery I started watching law and order SVU when it was at 27% and I already watched two episodes of law and order SVU and the phone still didn't die yet it's sipping battery and I just got mine two days ago I'm impressed

Personally the only real upgrade I see here is the battery on the z flip 3 was absolute garbage. It would drain hella fast. If you ever went outside and use Max brightness it would drain extremely fast, especially with always on display. The phone won't lost about 3 so definitely about 4 hours. Does he flip four? You're going to get at least two more hours of battery usage in my opinion is worth that extra 500 bucks

My main gripe about this phone is the outer display. It needs to be way larger than it is. "Cut out for the camera and flash and all display." I agree. I want to get the phone but I low-key want to wait to see if they make this change because this phone is going to piss me off if I have to open it up for everything. I can see it now.

Having used the Flip 3 for a week as a daily (over my S22U), I can say from user experience that the Flip 4 is definitely worth it.
You have the following that contributes to better battery life (which was the #1 complaint for Flip 3 owners):
+ Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 under TSMC fab
+ LTPO/ECO2 Samsung display
+ Larger Battery
+ "Light" Performance profile which lowers clocks but keeps display frequencies
I would agree that probably isn't worth it if you're shelling full price but if you were in the pre-orders the last two weeks they were killer deals (sorry RoW). You were practically getting the devices for free with the watch and ear buds. I was only in it for the watch at first to upgrade my GW1 lol but ended up getting the Flip 3 to trade in for a Flip 4. Both Flip and Fold 4 you were able to purchase for 1/4th the price before they started reducing/nerfing trade in values.
Honestly it feels a bit more solid phone than the week I've been using the Flip 3, the haptic feedback from the vibrations slightly more subtle and quieter than the Flip 3's vibration motor. Display is really nice!, touch feels a bit solid on the screen, the matte backing keeps your hand in place. Mind you I was using the Flip 3 caseless for a week through work and gym life. Overall they complement each other if you use the watch and buds, latest and greatest from Samsung lol :)

S21 ultra is still beast of a phone yoi might as well wait for s23 ultra. Personally not worth upgrading to a flip

I don't know man, I think the trend goes more towards having your phone much longer than 2y. Especially if you look at google and their update policy, updaytes for 5y. Like Apple. I don't know any Apple user that upgrades their phone every 2y. Pixel users kinda the same nowadays. Not sure how it is with Samsung though, do they still have outdated Android versions when they release the device? And only 2y of updates? Or did they become more customer friendly now?
They have 4 years of os upgrades and 5 years of security patches
