I was a Fold 3 owner and my inside screen protector had bubbles on both sides and in the middle - I upgraded, and there are definitely more than a couple of things difference. Samsung has a different screen tech on the 4 than the 3, and they use a different adhesive process on the 4. The 4 is noticeably lighter. The 4 is shorter and feels better in hand and pocket. The battery life is better. I could go on. I would say if you can bear the cost, definitely go fo it. You'll like what you did.

You could have gotten that screen protector replaced you know. About to have my Z Fold 3 screen protector reapplied by Samsung. I actually took mine off when it bubbled and have had it off for months. The screen is still great to this day.

However, I opted to get the $900.00 trade in for a better processor, a different screen manufactoring and protector gluing process along with a number of other improvements on the Fold 4. I'm really glad I did.
I upgraded, samsung gave me 1000 trade in credit, 133 bundle credit, 100 promotional credit, 48 govt discount and 350 promo code all this thru samsung.
I was happy with the 3 so I didnt feel the need to upgrade at first. Upgraded today and I am not disappointed.

With my experience, he is usually not very technical in his reviews so he tends to miss a lot of details

We can talk about specific specs all day but end of the day almost all of these phones get used for the same thing. Talking, texting, photos, games and social media.

I have the Z fold 3 and really don't plan on upgrading to the 4, but when floss is doing a review on it, I'm going to pay attention.

I bought the Fold a few days ago after watching this review and its sturdier, practical and lighter than I thought. I upgraded from the Note10+ which I also bought after a Flossy recomendation and still works like a charm btw which I will keep using as a 2nd phone for the SD card slot. The triple major goes never disappoint and I love it. This would be the ultimate phone with a SD card slot, built-in S Pen and a wider front screen but it already is amazing as is.

Fyi: I'm asking these questions to se how the Z Fold 4 compares to the Note 10 Plus, so if something is worse or better than the Note 10 Plus.
1. How is the experience with the outer screen? Is it too small of managable after getting use to?
2. Are there software bugs? If so how common?
3. How does the battery handle? How much more could I expect turning off 120hz and turning on power saving (just the "limit to 70% processing" option)?
4. Does it overheat? Does it get hot to the point of getting uncomfortable?
5. What case are you using? Which one do you recommend?
6. Are you using any third party screen protectors?
7. Have you noticed any scratches on the inner screen so far?
@@Riley_Canvessa 1. The outer screen is definitely a weak point but its not too bad imo. I use when I quickly have to look up something or in general when its not worth it to open up to the big screen. You will have to get used to the smaller keyboard when compared to the Note10+. Thats also true for the bigger keyboard when folded up though.
2. Havent noticed any notable software bugs yet. Flex mode and the readjustment from small to large screen always work smoothly.
3. I havent tried power saving mode since I didnt had the need for it yet. I always have 120hz on and everything on top settings. Battery life is comparable to the Note10+ (when it was new) I would say for me.
4. No overheating yet but I also only had it during this winter and I dont play too many graphic heavy games on phones. I doubt though that it would be much different than the Note. Maybe a bit better for me since I am from Europe and its finally a Snapdragon inside of the Fold instead of an Exynos which has worse performance.
5. I dont use a case. I just dont like the feel of them and havent had one in ages. I bought a custom fit leather bag for it. I also think this is the best way to protect it, if you arent too clumsy while using it caseless.
6. No additional screen protectors are on mine. Only the preinstalled one on the inner screen.
7. No scratches yet, I am very careful when using the inner screen though. I know a nail can scratch it. There is the inner screen protector though which would give it some protection.
One thing I think you should look into is the slight bend in the middle. It is visible from certain angles and when the sun is shining on it fully and you can also feel it. I recommend you to check out if you are fine with that in a store where they have phones for showcase.
A few strong points for me are the browsing of websites (perfect for desktop versions), Flex mode where I place it down like a laptop while watching a video, media consumption in general really and multitasking + taking photos with it is top notch and when an app is optimized for the inner screen its absolutely amazing.
If you do decide to buy it wait for a prize drop though. I bought it on sale for 1200 bucks (500gb version). It would have been around 1700 bucks full prize.

I have the Z Fold 3 and I'm definitely not upgrading to the 4. But if I had any other phone, the Z Fold 4 is a must buy. Love the 3. Hoping the 5 next year will be a much larger upgrade.

I went from the S22 Ultra to the Z Fold 4. I know I down graded but I've been wanting to switch things up and get the new fold. So far I'm very pleased with the large screen and easy multitasking.

Jus my opinion i wouldn't upgrade my note 20 ultra on the strength it has expandable memory I'm audiophile so all my music saved on a memory card plus I don't believe using internal memory on the strength it's slows down the cpu

I have to say Samsung is giving some good love with trade in values. I traded in my fold 2 and got the same value as a S22 ultra or fold 3.
One thing that I’d like for them to do it make it where we can use the S pen on the cover screen.
It would be nice to be able to take out your phone and write on the cover screen rather than open the main screen

Other reviews on YT on the Fold4 are coming from users who have used the Fold4 for a few days and did not previously use any other folding device. This is by far the most detailed and real world review out RN. I upgraded from the Fold3, and have major regrets, certainly not worth the upgrade, even with the juiced up trade-in credit. Samsung really doing Apple things w/this launch.
Dang Floss 2022 has been flat when it comes to innovation. This late in the year and I am still on the fence about upgrading from an S21 Ultra to an s22 Ultra. Just got involved with Samsung's trade-in program with my Galaxy watch 4. Received the new Galaxy watch 5 and I'm sending it back.
Something new, different, and exciting has yet to happen.

I've had the S21 Ultra, literally loved it. But I love my S22 Ultra a tad bit better, me personally I have big hands so the boxiness is what I prefer. But even if you kept your 21 for another year or 2 I highly doubt you'll miss anything 🙌🏾
@@TheMrtstubbs Same thing. I had the S21 Ultra, but had to ditch it because it had issues in March. So I got "Galactus" but I'm not too disappointed with it because I missed the Bluetooth S-Pen. Minus that, they're pretty much the same phone.

The most comprehensive review of the Z Fold 4! I called today about upgrading my Z Fold 2. My monthly bill will be the same with either the 3 or 4. If I get the 4, I get an S Pen and case but not if I get the 3. Same price after trade in, it's a no brainer!
For me this is still samsung's best phone... not the S22. you can talk about the camera and all the other things the s22 has over it but when it comes down to it the screen on the fold tops all of those features. You spend way more time watching stuff on your phone than you do taking pictures. And if your a showoff like me lol. The fold is the way to go.
I just got mine yesterday when I got off of work, I left it with smart switch while I slept and I work nights so I still need to activate the service. I am trading in my fold 2 and I gotta say, this new fold so far is just incredible. I have the 22 ultra and that's the best phone I have ever owned until now, the improvements with the camera are really good actually, pretty close to the ultra I think. I do want them to go all the way with the camera and put the s pen in the phone and once they do that I won't need to have the s series phone anymore to be honest.

I could never get over not having a rigid and perfectly flat screen. I've played w all foldable phones and they hold my attention for about 2 mins due to the fold/wave in the screen. I'm not spending that kinda money to have an imperfectly flat screen.
I think slowly but surely the foldable phones are becoming Samsung's "thing". The Android market has somewhat stagnated at this point, for a basic phone I think the Pixel range offers better value than a Galaxy, otherwise you may as well get an iPhone if you're spending $1k+ as you get a phone with a solid battery and better long term update support. The Z Flip or Fold however offer a totally different user experience and if you're upgrading every 1-2 years you'll see definitive improvements in build quality and functionality.
@@michaelmarquez6133 that's what I'm saying. The camera may not be better than the s22 but it's close enough to not even care and get a phone like the fold that stands out and offers something different. Owning a fold has got me way more wows and attention than any phone I've owned lol.

Jimmy 2 times checking in after getting the papers, getting the papers...traded my Fold 3 and S22 Ultra and got the Fold 4 for $99...I didn't like the Ultra's curved screen...also used the trading in bonus money to get the Tab S8 Ultra...loving everything so far. Thanks for keeping us all informed.

Flossy, I bought the Fold 3 on a mega trade-in deal from Samsung and AT&T and sent BOTH back because of the huge crease and narrow front screen. Ordered the Fold 4 from AT&T again, and now I'm HAPPY!! I love it, especially with 'Concepts' loaded. LOVE IT!!!!
The crease is still there on the 4.
The att trade deal wasn't as good as the straight from Samsung deal...I got the 512gb the watch 5 and the buds for the 799.99 and not with bill credits over 2.5years

After messing around with the vivo x fold, I was able to get quite a few apps to utilize the full inner display. I have an IPTV app that does it perfectly. I also was able to watch 5 different channels on the inner display. A multi channel picture in picture type of thing. Absolutely beautiful.

$1800 is cheap. In the UK the 512gb model is £1769 which equates to $2070. Plus you can only get max £580 off the phones price. So stateside, you don't know how good a deal samsung is giving you. Enjoy the phone. 👍

floss, do you use extra brightness or light performance mode on the fold 4? and yess, we definitely need a bigger screen (it almost feels a tad smaller than the fold 3 for me) and the built-in s pen.

In all honestly. I upgraded from Fold 3 to the Fold 4 for the durability and cheaper screen repair cost under Care+. I think we're getting closer and closer to the folds having the same level of durability as the candy bars.

I just got my Flip 4 2 days ago, upgraded from the S21 ultra. I love this phone, i havent messed with the cameras yet but everything feels and looks good so far. And the speakers sound incredible on this phone

Upgraded from the S21ultra. This folding display is amazing. I never get tired of starting something on the front screen then opening it up when I need a bigger view and feeling like I got a damn tv in my hand. The cameras are good enough for me, may be on par with my old phone. When I open up that screen, hand over that s pen, and ask a customer to sign for their credit card payment, they always look impressed by the device I'm using to conduct business. I only want even bigger folding phones in the future! My laptop is getting dusty!

Finally got to hold a Fold 4 in the Samsung store yesterday and I'm mesmerised by it!
Use dex or a docking station , I did that with my note 9. I have a PC and laptop but don't even touch it anymore, just plug a usb c to hdmi to any monitor and use a Bluetooth mouse or kb. Usb c hub with hdmi is still the best cause you can plug in extra usb peripherals , so if your travelling for buisness it's convenient to just use your phone at hotels using the TV as a display. Samsung's phones are basically chromebooks these days, you can even stream to the TV and use the phone as a keyboard or mice.

Samsung actually nailed the speakers this year. I cannot believe they EQed the speakers properly out of the box and don’t distort at max volume.

After re watching the video a thousand times, I finally got it in early August for an 800 bucks deal no trade in because I knew the Fold 4 would launch with a price TGH. Especially coming from an old Galaxy S7, I am super happy with the purchase so far, and I actually do like the old Fold 3 display better for videos, since it's closer to 16 by 9. Thanks for the realest reviews keeping us informed about all the RDA, still gonna enjoy watching this Fold 4 review even though I "folded" and got the 3 instead!
Darn, from S7 to Fold 3, thats one heck of an upgrade, i thought i was the only dinosaur using my note10 5g+, still really happy with it though :D

Samsung got the best deals. After trading in my S22+, I got the 512GB Fold + the case and pen + the buds 2 pro + the watch 5 pro for under $1K.
It makes updating regularly for us enthusiasts not feel so bad. Shout out to Samsung for having their eye on the prize. I could see most companies not wanting to do trade-ins for that good of a price.
