Yeah, the battery life is less than desired. Why do some companies make a phone with lots of features and then leave you hanging with a shitty battery?
Tbh it's a business phone not for media and it's comfortable at work i love it cause I'm constantly pulling out my phone and now it fits real nice now
I mean if it's gonna be used just for the basic and no media then it ain't been used to its full potential, either way can't since the battery is small, then I don't see the point of paying much for a phone like this if people gonna be restricting themselves of using it the way they'd like just cause battery life... I watch probably 30 reviews on this phone and as always yours is my favorite. Despite the battery issues I did purchase it. I love the phone. The fold option is so handy when filming and taking still shots. But I cannot deal with the battery. I watch a lot of tik toks and UA-cam videos daily as well as run social media apps a lot. And I am charging it 3 times a day minimum. The other day I left the house for 6 hours. Only used the phone twice to text my daughter. And it used 34% at standby. Very disappointing.with my 12 pro max I can do all that and go to bed at 45%. So I will be returning and hoping they bring us a flip4 with a good battery. That's honestly my biggest complaint. Well besides the fact I hate androids keyboard lol.

I just discovered you while searching the through reviews for this phone and this by far has been my favorite. No cookie cutter ish, this was so real and honest thank you 🙏🏻 it finally didn’t feel like someone was just trying to sell me something. Ironically, I’m sold (lol).

Different strokes for different folks. The reason I got the Z Flip 3 by trading in my Note 20 Ultra was because I find I seldom use the S Pen. I only really take serious pictures when on trips, which are once or twice a year and the display "limitation" doesn't really bother me. It took a few days, but the whole flip phone asthetic has grown back on me since the traditional flip phone days.

Keep calling out Samsung & Apple with these sub par spec "flagship" phones $1000+ without a charger in the box, or proper fast charging is just a joke.
I am rockin the Poco F3 just now, a $500 phone that can be had for less than that now, it has better specs than this.
Genuinely all innovation is gone at Samsung and Apple, but the price isn't, Xiaomi is showing how you do phones, and that's just their budget level, mid range is excellent and flagship with Mi 11 and the ultra is NEXT LEVEL compared to anything Samsung and Apple are currently offering.

You have a very valid point, Floss. You don’t spend so much money on a phone to buy a charger (or an earphone for that matter) by paying extra.
People should just avoid such phones and these guys would fall in line and won’t treat their customers like crap anymore and it’s even more ridiculous the reason they give for it-to protect environment , that’s the crappiest thing to say when all they care about it is profit.

I got my Z Flip3 a week ago and I'm loving it. The battery life isn't the best and it's slow to charge but those things just don't matter because it's so cool and stylish. Also, it's really fast. I only bought my Oppo Find X3 Pro three months ago but this seems faster.

I upgraded from Note 20 Ultra to go backwards cause the flip alone is something new, exciting and awesome to me that makes my phone fun to use.

I upgraded my wife's Flip 5G to the Flip 3 and liked it so much I picked up one for myself too. Now I've got the Fold 2 for business and Flip 3 for casual. Took advantage of those free upgrades for trading in old Galaxy S9's.

@@dirtydirtsgt4751 I love it! I actually just experienced a crack in the pre-installed screen protector on the folding area, and I'm gonna get it checked out, but it still works perfectly and the crack is hairline. I only notice it if I run my fingernail over the crease.
For those who had flip phones in the past I get it, But this one compromise a lot of features, and for a few hundred more I would easily go for a S21ultra.
I've used a 1999 Ericsson T10s as my 1st phone, and a Motorola RAZR V3 that I used between 2004 to 2011. They served me well.
I hope Samdung is listening! Floss is giving them the game! Put the got dam IR blaster back on the phone ! Listen to his petty gripes . I love Samsung and want to see you guys be the best. FLOSS giving Samsung tough love! Video is a beast!

Our Z Flip 3 came in early, and I have transferred everything over from our S10. It took a few hours because we have an SD Card on the S10, but I can report everything came over without issue. The settings, apps, setup, screens, and everything on the S10 came over to the Flip 3. The only settings requiring attention are the ones unique to the Flip 3.
We have the Phantom Black, and, surprisingly, it is not a fingerprint magnet.
The fingerprint reader is quick and responsive! I thought the phone would flip open easily, as you have shown. No flip-ology of the wrist to open ours. It requires two hands to open. I am not sure the color will matter if you get a case for it. I think a case is necessary because of how the phone feels in my hand when opening and using it. I have ordered several cases to try out.
I find it a bit uncomfortable to hold! It is a longer device and feels top-heavy. Once you open it, you have to adjust your grip on it. You cannot adjust your grip to account for the additional length of the phone until you open it. You will find yourself doing this automatically when you reach your thumb up for the fingerprint reader. Even when I do this, the Flip 3 still doesn't feel secure in my hand. I believe a case might help with this. I miss not having a headphone jack as I listen to many audiobooks and like having this as a backup when my Buds+ batteries are drained.
Due to the screen resolution, you will have larger black space on the left and right of your screen compared to the S10 or other phones that are not as long. The screen seems to be just a bit narrower than our S10. The Flip 3 comes set up in Vivid. I had to change it to Natural for general viewing and in the video, section to reduce blooming and over-saturation. There is one setting that is enabled by default, which helps access the menus without swipe down from the top or bottom of the phone. I mention this as a side note because it makes it easier to use the Flip 3. Just in case it is not active, you access it by going to Settings --> Home Screen --> select "Swipe down for notification panel.
Battery life seems pretty close to the S10 with a 3400 mAh. We are getting about 9 hours with the screen refresh rate set to 60Hz, using Dark screen mode, and all battery-saving features on. I didn't check it while watching videos but while listening to audiobooks while doing yard work. I did notice the battery takes longer to charge and doesn't indicate if it is Fast Charging? Fast charging is set up in the options. Fast charging will not be indicated when connecting a Fast Charger, as we saw on the S10. It is there if you pull the notification screen down. You will see Fast Charge there if you are using a Fast Charge adapter. Again it does not charge as fast as the S10. I can plug in our S10 for 30 minutes to an hour and we are at 50%+. This phone you might get to 20%! This is far too slow for a smaller battery phone that will require more charge time to be useful. A good note is because to the size while closed (you have to wireless charge this closed) it will fit easily in automobile wireless charges.
Even though it has two speakers, the sound is weak and tinny compared to the S10. Even though this is $1000 at 128G memory (not enough for us) you do get some coupons and additional trade-in bonuses which helps. The final cost for us was $400 turning in four devices.
For now, I am not sure we will be keeping the phone. I like the ability to fold it and put it in my pocket, for others their purse, or bag, but you have to be aware of the gap which could allow dust and other debris into the phone. Some cases seal this gap, so it may not be an issue. It might be a bit too tall for those with smaller hands. The extra height of the phone becomes a benefit when taking advantage of apps that use the multi-window function, but there are not many at this time, but you can force most apps to work with it. I don't feel the Flip 3 is worth it for us to change at this time. We will continue to use our S10s.
Cell phones are like hotels, the less you spend the more you get. Expensive hotels you have to pay extra for literally everything, get a 60 dollar room you get breakfast, free wifi, free hbo, paper in the morning. Ain't happening with a 500 dollar room

For anyone thinking of getting this phone, lemme share my experience with the original flip.
I'm a girl, a former iSheep and switched to the original Flip (not the 5G!) last year. Despite its faults that many reviewers, including Floss, pointed out, I had absolutely no issues whatsoever with the phone itself, the only issue I did have was... the battery. And yet, I charge my phone every single day anyway so it wasn't too bad.
No display issues, no burn-in, and the hinge is phenomenal. The only thing that would drain my battery like crazy was mobile gaming, but other than that I got by on a single charge per day with absolutely zero issues. I can honestly say, coming from Apple, the Flip is the best phone that I ever owned.
And yet, I still felt the need to upgrade to the Flip3. It's superior in every way. Right off the bat, the display is night and day compared to the OG. Then the water resistance. I never cared much for flagship specs, but the snapdragon 888 is so nice compared to my original Flip. I had no issues with the speed of the OG, but the flip3 is smooth as butter.
I didn't mind the tiny display of the OG because I do most of my stuff when I open the phone anyway, but the larger outer display is so so nice. Slimmer bezels compared to the OG are also nice.
We gotta keep in mind that foldable are still very new technology that are only *now* being brought into the wider mainstream. It's still very much not a phone for everyone, and the vast majority will probably want the S series phones. Since this technology is still very much in its infancy, people need to bear in mind that they are early adopters, and as such are probably gonna want to upgrade every 2 years or even every year. It's a commitment to a new technology, and as Samsung refines it, it'll become more sustainable, as we've already seen with the price. With later iterations, we will see battery improvements that will make this type of phone sustainable, but as it stands, E-waste is a huge topic.
As someone who's become a lot more minimalist and environmentally conscious, I still twinged at the thought of upgrading after a year of using my OG Flip. And that's because I don't want to contribute to the very real problem of E-waste. Technology should be an investment, and I think the Flip3, even in its current iteration, is an investment except you're investing in the continued development of foldable technology. I truly believe foldables are the next big thing and the future of cellphones. Every purchased Flip3 is yet another voice that tells Samsung that we as consumers are very much interested in this technology.
So, would I recommend the Flip3 to people? Yes and no. If your phone is older or if you have the OG Flip or Flip 5G, DEFINITELY upgrade. Even an Apple user will enjoy this phone, dare I say even more than what mundane stuff Apple is offering right now. But if you have a regular top of the line flagship... no. It's not worth it.
Last but not least, get this phone because you WANT it. As Flossy said, it's simply fun. It adds to your life, and I would say it's an investment in your happiness as well. Splurging on yourself from time to time is very valid, don't just settle for the bare minimum. It may not look like a sustainable investment right now, but it is an investment in the future of this technology and making it sustainable. And that I think is more important than most people realize.

I have the S21 Ultra as well which I think is currently the BEST phone on the market...PERIOD! But I can't let it go for the Flip and since I can't keep both.....I'm sending the Flip back. My S21 Ultra is paid for and it's a BEAST of a phone. There are way too many advantages it has over the flip to justify keeping the flip. The Flip will get better in a couple of years...maybe when they can decrease the size of the crease and allow you to remove that screen protector by making the front glass stronger.

I'm still using the Samsung S8+, been needing a new phone so I bought this one, can't wait till it gets here. But check this out!! As I watch this video I'm learning how to use the S8+!! I had no idea it could do this stuff! Floss, you're right, I should of taken the time to learn the phone.

I love the flip just because it flips. I'm so in love with my phone. Got it last Friday 😍
Despite all of it's flaws , the portable coolness factor makes me comfortable with the trade off , I don't really use the cameras much on my phone's and after like 5 notes in a row , I'm kind of over carrying around a huge phone .plus the outer screen makes me stay off the phone alot more , which I like
The outer display is like having a smartwatch.

Ya know, Floss? You're absolutely right -- The flex on the outside display would have been AMAZING, if it was bigger, and did allow us to text out on a bigger display.
i like this phone more than the Fold 3, because the Flip series has great portability, and I can still do what I want, quickly. The Fold 3 is nice, but I'm not okay with it's battery life.
That, and let's be real: Everyone wants to do that "Captain Kirk" motion on "Flipping that shit".
Great review. And I agree. Don't OtterBox a phone like this. Spigen, maybe. But this phone is all about the flex. I'm in my 40s. I getting one of these.
