I would have to agree with Jess, as a divorce is a failed marriage, but that doesn't mean it has to be a bad thing. You learn and move on and hopefully don't repeat 😊
I recently had this conversation with a group of people. Most of us felt that a divorce doesn’t mean the marriage failed. Yes, technically, it didn’t survive, but is that really failure? I agree with Melissa, by the way. With the high divorce rate, why do people even bother getting married anyway? The odds are terrible. P.s. I love the idea of having to renew your marriage every 2 years.❤
I like the idea of having to audit the marriage and then renew it. I like the idea of the health of the marriage being assessed. It would be good to assess for abuse.
I was in a coercive abusive marriage for 29 years. At first, it was easy to excuse strange behaviours but after my kids were born the control, domination, and isolation were quite awful. Yet everyone thought he was a great guy - great dad. They still think that. I had to leave all of our mutual friends. My first family thought, my husband leaving me would be the worst thing that could happen. My Dad believed if he was abusing me, I should stay and love him more. Worse, my dad thought he was a exemplary husband and father. I was completely isolated. Divorce is not failure. Divorce is hard fought escape for me. Even now, I don't open the front door unless I know who is there.
He threatened physical harm. In divorce his attempts to control have escalated. There is no police record and no law against this.
Divorce was the bravest thing I have every done.
People these days do not value commitment. Everyone is all about easy life and what makes them happy. The moment they're not happy or a mistake happens, there is no forgiving. No one wants to put the work. Everyone has big egos. Everyone now is self centered. The pendulum has swung too far. We've normalize divorce.

By definition, yes it’s a failure. But so what? We all make mistakes all the time, and as long as you learn from them it’s just a part of life. The alternative is staying in a marriage that you’re miserable in, so better to “fail” and start a happier chapter in your life.
