- Thanks to the internet I found a deal too good to pass up on a HK SL8 - and this is my first close up.
Is it really a civilian version of HK’s legendary G36 or is it just a very interesting (hopefully) German rifle.
Would love to hear about your experience with the SL8.

Untouched, unmodified, original SL8-5, freakingly accurate!! The only complain is very hard to find spare parts and magazines in Canada. I wish I knew about that before getting one.
I personally like the way it looks. Been eyeing one. I just want to know how it shoots. I’m an HK fanboy! Once again great video. Keep it up
It will keep up with most bolt guns. It's that accurate. Thing's basically a modern SR9 in 5.56. Don't be like the tactical lard azzes who larp and cry bc it's not a g36. Enjoy the fact that HK created an amazing target rifle.

It takes so much work to make these like a G36, but what if we stop comparing it and look at it for what it is? It’s an extremely robust German made 556 rifle with an insanely high quality almost 21” barrel. If you ask me, this thing is screaming precision! It needs a bipod and a high zoom optic on it. I too am tempted by sale pricing and have debated on picking one up and take it out to 500yd maybe even more at the farm and see what I can do with it. Probably develop a hand load for it to see what accuracy it’s truly capable of.
Exactly. I think butchering it ruining the amazing barrel is a crime. You're getting a PSG1's little brother but likely more accurate due to 5.56 trajectory out to 500. And a 5.56 is plenty enough to explode a melon out of a 20" barrel. Hkpartspro has the bipods right now. It completes the look of the rifle. HK parts arent cheap but it's like buying a Rolex. Keeps the POORS from tarnishing the brand.

I saw a slightly modified one that had a pistol grip and magpul PSR stock....nothing else. Gun was gorgeous.
Every now and then I check out the HK SL8. It may be too unusual for me, but it’s interesting! Is the barrel polygonal?
Just standard 6x lands/grooves, RH twist 1 in 7”. I had to check the owners manual. Thanks so much for watching!!!

Love mine. however, the G36E calls my name. i must say goodbye to the ol' SL8 style. too heavy and i hate fucking loading the goddamn 10 round rounds. need at least 30. not to mention threaded barrel and folding stock. I'll be buying a holosun510c GR with a 3x magnifier.
