Sorry to intrude, did Van lose her weight or something, she looks a bit different, but I couldn't point out exactly in what way she looks a bit different.
@@VanandJoe She definitely doesn't look bad, but I noticed the difference, she's more charming before all those diets, I think, I hope she's just happy with her diet program..If she's interested to loose some weight, don't over do it, supplement the diet with lots of fruits instead. 😄
After 15 years living here, it much more convenient to live an hour south of Manila for us, since most of our Filipino family lives here.😂 20% to 30% less expensive, plus we built our own home 5br, 5ba,many years ago for $60k, paid in cash. Today it worth many times over. We have 2 cars & a scooter. Dog & cat. Although we have no rent or mortgage, we budget $2K each month, but many times go over due to eating out, traveling or helping relatives and friends 😂 we are financially secured, we save more than we spend. 💞 You guys are beautiful, keep the videos coming, life is good 🥳
Thanks for the video, my monthly budget or pension is $1500 and I live in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City south of Manila plus don't rely living pension to pension, you need extra savings and emergency funds. I'm very happy enough not paying any mortgage or rent. I know 5 farangs living there and all military veterans.
Retire and live like a king in the Philippines on $2,000/mo. If you have $300,000 invested in dividend-paying stocks/ETFs, with average annual yield of 8%, you can generate $2,000/mo income WITHOUT touching principal. For comparison, $2,000/mo in the US is POVERTY LEVEL...
@Thelilantjr voo benchmark mark is 12.96% and almost matched it over 13 years. The orginial posters issues is more his withdrawal rate as 8% is a bit high if you include inflation and downward market turns. I would suggest double that 300k and take out 4% adjusted with inflation to allow growth and should be able to do it for 30+ years.
I had a friend that moved out there like 3 years ago n was wondering? What are the cost of shipping stuff from the USA to something around there ? Or even retire there like maybe cars shippings or something that i probably cant take right away ?
Hi! oh no it does not snow here. The Philippines is a tropical country. Hot and humid or Rain is what you should expect. Although for dating, there's a lot of beautiful beaches and scenic routes to take.
@@VanandJoe it's what I figured....I'm an icy type of guy, high humidity is quite the opposite of where I consider home weather as a base to begin a relationship....taking a Holiday is more sensible, I can do just fine not wearing a daily bikini or breathing a flood of emotions that I can care for at the moment....
Great video . My wife is from duma , living in Canada for a decade . We are considering moving with our daughters to duma . Trial run this December . Did you 2 attend private school there ? Wondering what the quality of private schools are.
Hey two spirited penguin!... lol, the cost of things in Dumaguete and Valencia has been driven WAY UP by 6000+ foreigners. Land prices there in that area have gone up like a gold rush! What sold for 1000usd now the natives try and get 40k,50k, 100,000k. But in most any other place in the Philippines a person can still get a decent lot for 500usd. Foreigners have ruined the southern end of Negros Oriental for reasonably priced living. Ned's house on "Philippine Dreams" was decent, "pink house" for 10k. But seeing less and less places like that now that foreigners have flooded into that area. As for how you buy land in Phils...best to get an SPA (special power of attorney)...so even when your house/land is in your wife/gf name...you (the foreigner) still have absolute control of the place. I don't think you mentioned how much your rent is and... when will you do a tour of your house?
Hey there! Very well said. Same thing is happening here in Siquijor. The land prices by the beach is almost ridiculous nowadays. Great point regarding the SPA! We are not renting as the place in Dumaguete belonged to Van's parents. That was their first house. just recently, we moved here in Siquijor but we are not renting as well as we live in our vacation home. I will do a proper tour of our place soon and even talk about land prices here. Thanks for the suggestions! Cheers!
Is it a fair guess to guess you just recently moved to your parents house in Siquijor? Yes...land there in Siquijor is expensive...not like when your dad bought it 25 or 30 years ago. When many foreigners come to a region and pay high prices because they seem like low prices compared to their home country...then all the prices in that area where foreigners frequent...go up up up ("Foreigner effect"...kano price :(. I know there are many places where few foreigners are that still have very cheap land...because the only buyers are local pinoy. @@VanandJoe
A lot for 500USD - lol Prices of lots went up due to foreigners? You must really know the PH very well to write this omg Lots in Ayala Alabang are now at about >4000USD per sqm due to Filipinos buying and Filipino Chinese
I'm looking at Trece Martires an hour or so S of Manila. (for cheap) A bit further S and for more money is Tagaytay at 2000 feet and much cooler. -- Too old for a relationship. I'm a frugal old man alone and comfortable with that ! -- Need to make a $1500 budget work - somewhere. -- Several have told me I can do that - "comfortably" - while a few others say $2500 is needed. -?- No pets and no woman - just me ? -- My budget is close to the middle you suggest ? But I'm by myself. -- I would like your opinions too ! - - - PLEASE - - -
I'm old frugal and retired w/a $1500 income. -- Cheap living is my specialty as needed. Yet that affords me the opportunity to splurge occasionally as well. -- Many places on the islands are quite affordable and very likely will be the rest of my life. -- My 'goal' is to live on $1100 - $1250 and save the rest. -- Lipa City for example is reported to have a cost of living for $750 - $800 / mo. from two different sources in 2023 for a single persons basic living expenses. Health insurance when old is expensive and 4 blood pressure medications aren't super cheap either. - ? -

Hello
@@merlindapabustan1740 hi Merlinda!
Thank you for this video. Wonderful. I think, the cost of living could also depend on style of living, the place you live in etc.
