Most people seem to go with an Xpipe, of course it's a personal preference thing. I actually prefer the deep smoothness and clean sound of the Hpipe vs the more grumblier, raspier sound of the Xpipe. With the Xpipe you hear a bit more pulse and burbles throughout the rpm range. The Hpipe still has the pulse and burbles throughout the rpm range but it's a bit more smooth out, less defined, and deeper. When it comes to muscle cars I'm not a fan of raspiness so Hpipe is what I've been sticking too. Great video man this is probably the best H and Xpipe comparison just do to the fact both cars are the same with stock exhaust components.👍

Idk I guess I should be wearing my headphones, but thanks for this segment. The setup on your Mach 1 is a lot deeper and kinda sounds like the S650, if I'm not mistaken.
As an old man (42) I'm really jealous. I always did X-pipes on my mustangs and v8 cars to eke out every hp vs an h pipe. I mean EVERYTHING. Back in the dark days when 200-250 HP was hot, why not. I didn't feel I had an option when seeking performance. But thanks to modern cars, it's just really a sound thing now. My sisters 05 v6 camry is faster than my first stock Fox Mustang GT LOL. We knew it back then in the late "1900s" and early aughts how the sound was affected. But we also felt it in the seat of the pants the X pipe vs H pipe (and MMFF dyno charts proved it). That being said, I still prefer the sound of an X pipe. And I've driven a ton of the newer cars with the factory active exhaust. Excellent. No more cold starts waking up the neighborhood. Nice work, love the test! And I'm so glad the next generation of hot rodders grew up with way more power than the muscle guys before me. Dark days no more!
I'm an H-pipe guy. I've got the Steeda H-pipe on my 2020 GT/CS with their Aggressive tone Axle Back and I couldn't be more happy. But not going to lie that X-Pipe did sound really good as well how you have it set up on the Mach Uno. Guess I've only really heard the X-Pipe paired with Corsa Xtremes and its way to raspy at that point in my opinion. Keep the bangers coming and much love to you and the whole DBPSQUAD!
@@169abr Ayeeee!!!! CS isn’t for everyone and that’s cool with me. I love mine, and around here I see one every so often not like all the other models. Always have people come up and ask what the GT/CS is because they have never seen one. Makes me respect it more and more every time.
@@Kirby_5oh yessir, my girlfriend has a black 13 CS and I traded my normal GT for a 2020 CS recently. They’re so much nicer on the interior than a GT, even a 401A GT has big differences in feel.

I’ve watched this a couple times, I just put LTH put my midmuffler back on and added the complete Mach1 exhau kit valance valves etc, ITS THE BEST SOUNDING COMBO EVER ON S550!!! Sounds deep like an old Big block!! Love it!
Derek great video dude‼️ I have always preferred to hear the H-pipe deep throaty sound; however, the X-pipe increases horse power by 10-12 while the H-pipe only increases by 4-6 Hp. I want to get my coming 2024 Mustang to 500 rear wheel Hp so I am forced to go with the X-pipe. Your car sounded awesome and didn’t seem too raspy. I plan to get Kooks headers and I have noticed that the loudness really increases with headers. I look forward to hearing Maverick with the headers. If your car becomes significantly raspy with the headers & X-pipe I will go with the Steeda H-pipe but for now I am leaning toward the X-pipe thanks to this video!!! Thank you so much Derek!!! The difference between them is very little maybe 2 or 3 at the most it's within dyno variance idk who told you there was this big noticeable difference between h and x but you got fooled lol. H sounds better and hp difference is a wash.
Lots of comparisons out there, liked the fact the cars are identical other that what your comparing. Also the level of detail you went with each mode was very helpful. Ive watched this 3 times.. I think I’m going with a X pipe. The downshifts sound so mean! But sounds like you can’t go wrong with ether!
Video will never do justice at how diffrent the actual modes are. Sport and track almost sound the same on video but under load in person they are alot diffrent. Was surprised when I finally picked up my 23. Will definitely be getting a H pipe
H pipe does it for me, clean sound, deep and throaty. The X pipe sounds wild like the tone/overtones are not controlled. The H pipe really sounds like it was designed to produce a well controlled sound.
My new Shelby Super Snake came with a Borla exhaust that uses thier H pipe but it was to quiet for my taste. I get to be able to sell them through dealerships they have to meet the requirements to be 50 state legal for sound, but I wanted more. I talked to the people at Shelby America and they recommended the Borla Swithfire X pipe for it. I just had it installed and wow, the sound actually got deeper, and definitely louder. Everyone back in the shop at the dealership was all smiles when they started it up. That switchfire x pipe is a very unique design with crazy flow pattern which probably helps take the rasp out of it as it is a hybrid of a straight pipe and a x pipe all in one.

I have longtubes, no cats, a Corsa double helix, double x pipe feeding into a Roush axle back on a 16GT PP1. Oh and it's got a stage 2 Whipple. I don't start it after 10pm or before 8am at home.
Stainless Works 1-7/8" Long Tubes, No Cats, Stock Resonator, Stock Mufflers and Quad Pipes paired with a Procharger D-1X, Fore Fuel System and 10R80. I have the quietest supercharged car on the planet. Its a Palm Beach Dyno strapped down getting tuned. Pick it up tomorrow.
You are so right! The X pipe has a lot more rasp. To me it seems like the X pipe gives a more modern Euro style flavour, while the H pipe gives that old school 351 iron vibes.
I just got installed a custom made H-Pipe to my GT and at some points I feel it's too much haha The stock sound is very nice tho, but I never used quiet mode. Now I'm actually using quiet mode quite often. I had my H-Pipe custom made as I needed to install plates so I can easily change back to stock with the resonator as European regulations require periodic car inspections.

I've gotta 21 Mach1 with the H pipe and I do believe after hearing this I should have put the x pipe on it's not that raspy sounding it's got much better popping and crackling sound to it!!
H pipe sounds better on muscle cars in my opinion, especially on the stock Mach 1 exhaust which already sounds so good from the factory. The H pipe accentuates the deep growl and tones appropriate for a car like this. X pipes are too raspy and exotic sounding and don’t fit the car in my opinion.
i just bought one the other day went with X pipe since the X pipe gives better performance it might be mild but i plan on taking mine to a drag strip and racing
These really are some of the best sounding Coyotes I've heard. Once you do a full exhaust on them that is very free flowing they just don't sound very good, they're loud, but not a nice sound. These setups sound very nice though, great tone on both.
This is why they need something like borla touring or mbrp street or something like that with a free flowing exhaust. Unfortunately everyone in the coyote world thinks louder is better and go with corsa extremes or borla ataks with their long tubes and free flowing exhaust hence why they're so loud and raspy and crap sounding lol. I heard a gen 1 5.0 manual with long tubes free flowing h and mbrp street and it sounded very good. Very deep and throaty.
Have the Gen2 S550 and have MAK race pipes with Thunderbolt 400CEL HFC's, X-Pipe and Borla S-Type axel back, the sound is crazy good! Will be changing my Thunderbolt's for some Gesi 300CEL HFC's and the future...

H pipe personally because it has the deeper tone… I’m over the whole super raspy sound with the X.. plus H pairs well with longtube headers because LTH makes the exhaust super raspy by itself

My Hpipe paired with LTH and the active exhaust is an eargasm imo.
I think the newer generation coyotes (gen 2 and 3 especially) are way too raspy, so H pipe is definitely the way to go

I prefer the H pipe Derek, I have one on my S197 and I just like that deeper throaty sound. The X pipe sounds very good too. 😎👌👍
I have an x pipe with long tubes and it sounds great on stock active exhaust. The ability to be quiet on command is gold
I Prefer X on modulars and H on pushrods.. but dont think you can go wrong with either like you said.

Your mid pipe won’t make a difference, the new ones, if tuneable, will be long tubes and E away from 500whp.

Just got my 2021 Mach 1 last Monday. Was going to do X pipe, but I think I like the deeper tone of the H pipe. Very thorough test.

X pipe raspy H deeper tone huge diff on my 2022 but I just sold it and gonna drink cool aid and order me a grabber blue 2024

I love the x pipe and it’s going to be killer with the long tubes but definitely needs the off road x
I installed a corsa double helix yesterday. Everything else is stock, and i might just leave it like this. It sounds SO good
You can start it my mode, track mode etc. Gotta hit the ignition first to turn electronics on and then switch to my mode, then start it
H-Pipe - more chop , more bass - X-Pipe - smoother tone, more high end bark - Ive had both and I prefer the X

Yo Tyler- Try the no lift shift. Clutch like normal but do not lift on the throttle. Game changer.

Both sound better then that suitcase for a resonator but I love the H-Pipes Deep Tone
I belive if you go into accessory mode change the setting and then start it'll stay in the set mode, for just that session of course.
When you start it, the car automatically goes into normal if you set it to track, you can only start it on quiet or normal modes.
