Ive had my 101MP for around 20 months now and every day is a learning day, admittedly im away in the truck 5 days so its only the weekend but what a fantastic radio. youll get used to everythig all in time. Great video for newbies, keep up the good work.
Like others, you're completely misunderstanding VC Tune. It's a relatively wide, tunable band-pass filter designed to stop strong out-of-band transmissions - certainly far too wide to eliminate local QRN. By engaging VC Tune and moving the peak away from the signal you're listening to, you are just using it as an attenuator - which works provided there are no strong, unwanted signals close by. Better to use the real attenuator and to turn down the RF Gain in order to get the same effect. If you don't have a strong broadcast transmitter close by and are not operating during Field Day, VC Tune is best left turned off...
It takes a few months of regular operating to train the fingers to stay off the dial when pushing buttons. I have the FTDX10, which is even more cramped and if I can do it on that radio, the 101D/MP will be no problem.
I've had one for a few years and love it. Glad I spent the $. It was worth it. I have been thinking about getting the add on speaker but it sounds good without it. The moni button allows you to monitor your own voice. Hold it in a few seconds to hear yourself and make adjustments.
Only bad thing i have found so far is fan keeps kicking in on receive after about 15 mins and then in short bursts thereafter other than that its a blinding radio
Great presentation as usual! Might be my next rig. Just trying to figure out which rigs to sell lol. The control of the rx is most important to me and this rig has it. Period! Truly amazing and proves what I've been saying. The full blown sdr rigs are overrated. I know. I have 2 different ones. The only benefit to the big sdrs is the multi notch ability. Visually placed on the spectrum with infinitely variable width, placement and #'s all with a click of a mouse. Speaking of the rx only of course. I always listen to what the raw front ends sound like. Are the brittle, warm, pleasing to listen to? To make an accurate judgement, I would need to hear the audio direct from the USB audio codec and not from the speaker. That way I could listen with a good set of ear buds or cans. Maybe something to think about in the future. Thanks again for taking the time to put this demo up. Always well done brotha! Cheers mate! Steve
Thanks Steve for your comments audio codec is a bit above my pay grade computers and me don`t mix Lol it takes me all my time todo thumbs up on facebook. It will take a bit of time to get to grips with the radio its just like getting a new car. From what i`ve seen so far this radio is blowing me away 73 John
@@hamradiostationg0dtx583 that's what I've seen too. I'm blown away and I don't even have one in front of me hahaha. I think, doesn't really matter what I think but, you'll really love that thing! Cheers
Sold mine after two months, over rated and just not for me... All this DNR is completely exaggerated. I went full SDR and no regrets. I'd never get a yaesu again. Don't get me started on the scope, unusable! And when using it remote, you lose data mode functionality... Good luck with it.
The 3D scope is pretty good just the levels need to be kept low. I find it very useful. Try a wireless mouse it is really great no need to touch the screen. Very handy😊 It’s no ICOM scope but pretty good. I really liked it after a while….even 3D Yeah it beats all the ICOM’S I’ve had….it’s better than my 7610…. I have the 101 MP, ITS VERY COOL😊😊 LES, VK3TEX,cheers and good dx
