  • QRM eliminator is one of the best things for QRM it is by far the best piece of kit I have ever bought for my shack.

The single most important element in this is having a good receive antenna for the QRM eliminator. And secondly, knowing what the source of noise is. They certainly work - without question they do and can be the difference between being able to use the band - or not as the case may be.

I don't need Amp 1 on 20m. I find it far too noisy. My own approach is to roll back RF gain to the point the meter just deflects on signals very slightly, then IPO1 and DNR. I use an FTDX5000MP, but the principle is the same.

What is opinion on the FTDX-101MP, mainly the V-Tune and roofing filters for added quality of noise reduction and additionally the 200 watts, dual tuner and power supply speaker add to a better experience? If the V-Tune and roofing filters are not as helpful for added ease of hearing then the FTDX10 maybe the best choice?

    Hola.
    Gracias por su vídeo.
Qué dipolo (medidas) como antena auxiliar usa para una mejor eficacia?
    Gracias.

Can you do a video about how you tune the qrm eliminator?

So is a "QRM eliminator" any different than a directional antenna?
I get the general idea of feeding in a second antenna and adjusting its phase to cancel noise. But that's just a phased array antenna, essentially just a directional antenna. You could also use, for eg, a Yagi, couldn't you? Or is this a way of making your array adjustable?
By the way, I don't think you should be aiming for "no noise" on the waterfall. All that's doing is showing your radio/antenna are deaf. If you're on HF, there should be lots of noise, all the time. The point is the SNR should be good, and you should have lots of faint signals.

Hi ... can you do a video with SNR measurements on a weak signal using one of these boxes ? I have and the results are not good ! , I noticed that your signals adacent to the qrm were attenuated when you turned the eliminator on, some were not visible after turning it on , actually only 1 was visible they other disappeared ! ... actual measurements would be good as to see whether they severly attenuate primary signals as well , possibly getting worst SNR results than without the box ... iam still up in the air as to whether your really gain an advantage with these eliminators or its just because the qrm has attenuated, the box works in the mind ? ... the DNR in the 101d with its preset Algorithms seems a better way to go as they, dont ,attenuate the primary signal whatsoever .. aditionally , only wished Yaesu in its firmware upgrades add to its algorithms to even better results .... The DNR is a game changer in this field

HI to answer your question if you are using a radio to get rid of qrm you use the att rf gain noise reduction dnr shift with notch and cont in my situation the noise is coming from solar panels on a neighbours house so the noise is to great for the radio to cope . This is the problem with man made noise, no matter what you do with the radio the qrm maybe to strong such as power line noise. So to answer your question using a qrm eliminator will attenuate your signal but so would your radio if you were trying to get rid of the noise. The goal is to get rid of qrm so you can hear the signal below the noise floor. It is irrelevent what s reading you get the goal is to hear the station. Hope this has been some help. G0DTX

radio then qrm eliminator up to 100w then linear to the power you need.

At last some one who understand how to use ATT, the amount of people who run these radios wide open, just so that S meter reads S9.. Respect old man. You understand your radios.
What is the antenna on your QRM Eliminator?
