"All octopuses are remarkably smart - with various species known to exhibit an impressive capacity for spatial learning, navigation, communication, tool usage and even observational learning.
Octopuses have obvious cognitive thinking capabilities and evidence suggests that they may be capable of individualized emotion and personality, which means they are likely capable of forming relatively sophisticated relationships with other octopuses and indeed with humans.
Now what sets the incredible Mimic Octopus apart from its intelligent peers is its extraordinary ability to, as its name suggests, mimic or impersonate the physical and behavioral characteristics of other sea creatures!
Not only can the Mimic Octopus change skin pattern and color to suit its background, as other cephalopods can, the Mimic Octopus can assess multiple scenarios and shape shift to an amazing extent both as a means of tricking unsuspecting prey. And by fooling potential predators - "by discerning and impersonating the sea creature that will present the greatest threat to its current possible predator."
What an animal! And surely a very strong contender for the title of the world’s smartest."

If humans are smartest then why cant they live in peace and harmony like dolphins or be able to do what this octopus does?

+Neo Dolphins Don't live in peace and harmony. Bottlenose Dolphins tend to live in same sex pods, because males and females tend to fight each other to the point of endangering the babies, Females will fight to protect the young Dolphins from males that tend to go to far when rough housing. Until it's time to make up. then they give each other gifts. So they are smart, sure, but they don't really get along with each other. Dolphins are wild animals, they can get moody, and have even been known to attack human beings.
Spinner dolphins on the other hand get along with each other so well, they sometimes form mega pods. with upwards of hundreds to even thousands of members. However they have on obsessive fixation for leaping out of the water, and spinning, Like a Neurotic dog that can't stop playing fetch. It's just... mental...

Its impossible to declare intelligence when we have not catalogued the entirety of our planet's species.
irishbreakfast this all is your opinion. Stop forcing it as a fact, because it's not. Human is the most intelligent animal, because humans are able to abstract thinking, can communicate in more ways than shouting and gesticulation and can create tools more complicated than stick.
What you have written about mimic as an uber-laguage is complete bullshit, since *it's not a language*. Only few animals can communicate with a language. The rest just rely on basic instinct or hive mind.

human are the smartest animal in the entire world and even in the universe
You can not say we are the smartest animal in the universe because we have only explored one planet- earth. We arent nessecarily the smartest earth animal either depending on what you take into account but we certainly are the dominant species on our planet because of the circumstances being in our favor.
My point is we are the smartest SOCIAL animal (that we know of). However octopusses (octopi is actually an improper term) are the smartest HUNTING animal.
You just saying we are the smartest animal in the universe proves that our species is slowly degrading in intelligence due to us not needing it because we never have to outsmart prey anymore.
+Chandler Kinney humans are the smartest animal when it comes to reasoning and understanding the fundamentals of the universe. But if we didn't have those tools our physical attributes would put use under the food change. Humans physical abilities aren't that impressive, the greatest thing about us is our brain.
