Edit: Okay y’all, obviously this is just a general rule-of-thumb and there are exceptions. Yes, it is common for the flower girl to wear white, I was more talking about the guests, not the people who are in the wedding because generally the bride chooses what the wedding party wears. And yes, some brides might not wear white, or might want guests to wear whit or some off white color. This is just a general rule to follow, obviously if you are told differently for a specific wedding it doesn’t apply.
Dogs Are The Best Correct. But not everyone knows this. White is my favorite color to wear. I didn’t know this until a few years ago. I guess it’s better to learn late than never.

@@Sassafrass95 Well actually not necessarily true. I wore black to my stepdaughters wedding. It had ivory embroidery (floral & vines) flowing all the way down the back and ending at the fishtail hem. I DEFINITELY made sure my stepdaughter saw and approved the dress 1st before I wore it. It took me an entire year before I could find a dress that I liked and I couldn't wear the same color as the mother of the bride or groom. Not to mention that many weddings are literally in black, the bridesmaids wear black. I doubt wearing white will ever change but the rules of wearing black have come a long way from being taboo.

That wedding day was a lot, I had lost a child a couple of moths before the wedding, I was 5 moths pregnant, we had already married at the courthouse earlier that year and happily awaiting parenthood. I put that wedding day together to make up for the loss of my child. Felt I had failed as a woman in carrying an child. Not mmmm my mother was not there either to support me at the hospital when I loss. I would later come to find after the wedding that there is a reason for everything. Found out my husband became a heroine addict. So I was mourning the loss of a child, a failed marriage and a jealous mother. This was in 2013 November for the wedding. The wedding was just one of the things she denied. I had to bring up things to help Dr. Phil understand the “mother” I had and how she was towards me. There was so much more after that of course but the wedding was something they wanted to speak on too.

Tiffany Thompson my heart bleeds for you. I went through a similar situation with my mom on my wedding day. We’ve always had a shaky relationship but I didn’t not know to what extent till the wedding day. Bipolar/narcissistic personality is like dealing with a rock everything you say is not true and you’re lying even things documented on text. And everything she does it’s because she love her children. So far I have distanced myself. We talk but very controlled setting and very mundane talks. I don’t say much because I don’t trust her. Have boundaries and may you continue to heal. At least your mom agreed to come to Dr Phil and so maybe there is hope. Mine doesn’t even believe that mental illness exist and if you mentioned it then you’re very disrespectful as a child.
@@tiffanythompson9814 I am so sorry for you. I have kind of the same mother, to the point I don't want to have her to my wedding or around my future children. She can be a very jealous woman and competitive as well but hide it very well, it took me more than 20 years to realise the depth of the damage of her psyche. when I was young she was sneakily trying to create turmoil between me and my boyfriend so now she knows nothing about my private life, I learned my lesson 🤣
She was diagnosed with histrionic personality by a psychiatrist who only saw her one hour or so when she was trying to get the custody, well he was damn right!! And on top of that she has the Munschausen syndrome (basically it's like an arsonist fireman...) it often goes hand in hand with histrionic personality. But she is so infuriating that she doesn't need to do much to make me sick just being herself can make me physically sick by being around her too much. Look it up into these disorders it might help you to understand and distance yourself from her drama. Borderline also and narcissistic personality disorders, they kind of overlap each other.
When I was a child I wanted to live with my mother instead of my father but now I am soooooooo grateful she didn't get the custody for me and my brother. Thank you judges who made the right decision!
My best advice if you allow me to give you one would be to distance yourself as much as you can but slowly in a way that she won't notice too much, and have only shallow small talks when you see her, it's the "grey rock" method. It's sad but unfortunately there's no point in trying to make them realise their wrong doings, they won't as they don't want to, they are in complete denial and strongly believe their own lies. It's not easy cause its like a mourning somehow, to realise that we'll never have the mother that we wish we had 😟 but for me I know it's the best I can do.

I was living far away for years and doing alright, interestingly all my health troubles got better than when I was living in the same area as her. I came back a few years ago... and bam!!! too much time around her and my life is a mess, so much health troubles now including a sciatica for 2 years which kept me stuck here when I was about to move... well I guess I needed a reminder and revise my lesson🤣🤣🤣 I am healing now and won't ever forget 😏

As I've asked elsewhere is this a American thing. Over in the UK it seems more traditional for the brides maids, mother of the bride etc to wear white but to be a bit minimal about the design so there is no confusion as to the bride.

It comes down to customs. In the Balkans, you can wear white if you wanted to and nobody, not even the bride, would frown upon it. We just couldn't care. As long as you do not turn up with yet another bridal gown, white dresses or assembles are acceptable.

I couldn't agree more. The mother to me looks like somebody who has grave issues with emotional maturity, responsibility and dramatic behaviour. She doesn't behave like the mother, she behaves like the child, and a really young child who hasn't yet learnt that the Earth does not happen to revolve around them and they are never going to receive everything they want.

She's doing it because she knows if people are able to hear the daughter's side of the story, they will believe the daughter and not her. So she is trying to prevent that.
The fact that she isn't immediately just apologizing tells me that she did everything the daughter said she did, did it on purpose, and feels no remorse over it.
Even if she did say sorry, that wouldn't prove she didnt do these things..... but it would have shown some remorse. It takes a person capable of being humble to be able to say "im sorry". Unfortunately, i don't think this daughter will ever hear those words from her mother.

The mother of the bride has Histrionic Personality Disorder. It's your daughter's wedding not yours. The mother has to be the center of the attention and she is jealous of her daughter. My mother has always been jealous of me. She could not stand that I was getting married to someone who loves me instead of her having to get married because she was three-months pregnant. She ended up wearing a track suit to my wedding. She said she had an accident, however there were tons of formal wear shops near the wedding venue so she could have bought a new outfit. She always wore formal outfits to my brother's weddings including wearing expensive hats. But for her only daughter she wears a blue track suit. My parents did not even bother to buy my husband and I a wedding gift or a bridal shower. She did not give her only daughter a baby shower a few years later. Just move on and leave toxic family members behind.
