A 995 Cayenne is without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite Cayenne. I would love one with a tan interior and Dark Olive Metallic paint, perfect spec 👌🏼 Great video Joel!
Not that I'm in a rush to buy a Porsche Cayenne but even if I could afford both I'd buy the old one. Looks so much more classy, less generic, practical, does everything you need of it. Anyone buying the new version needs to take their head for a wobble.
Great video Joel. I had a Cayenne loan car recently, but it was the facelift GTS version of yours, on air suspension. That too had a really bouncy ride and would never just settle down the way a Rangie does. Made a great noise though. The new version looks relatively good value when judged against its peers, but I certainly wouldn’t let my kids near a 170k SUV. At least the hybrid tech eases your conscience on the school run. Cars like this are so compromised as are the supersaloons as well. You’d never drive them flat out with family and dog on board, and when empty they are too big / heavy / expensive to use as designed. Our roads are generally shit and heavily policed. For me an l322 or diesel estate for family duty, and a proper fun car, is the best answer.
Well Joel, it's a Porsche, you don't have to tell me, look at my nickname and avatar photo. It shaped who I am it seems 😅😂. My favorite toy car was an 80's 911, I grew up believing cars had to have a bonnet shape (higher on the sides) like a Porsche to prove they were fast 😂 I just realized you have owned all the Porsche models I dreamt of owning as a teenager, 996 and later the Cayenne that beat a tank on Top Gear 😂
Hi Joel, nice to see a comparison from the original 995 to the "New idea" of a hybrid vehicle. I prefer the original version, when Volkswagen / Porsche were trying to do some interesting stuff. That R32 sound really is intoxicating. I think the V8 is the way to go, as I have mentioned, it might be a little more economical, as it is just not working that hard. Still I brought a turbo... For me my Cayenne is a weekend car, but when I want a treat I take out my old trusty 2007 BMW Z4M... and i know you know what that feels like... Driving is a passion, thank you for sharing yours with us...
@@itsjoel Thanks for that. And well as for the other 11 cars I have. So why does no one like the R171 SLK 55AMG? And the rest you are just the least desirable cars on the planet, well at least I tried... At least now I have no money!
Its more than a bit mad that following these trends in a few years we might be looking at new luxury SUV's being sold out the door with 1,000HP figures just because rich people gotta rich.
@ I agree, I had a MK4 golf that looks smaller than a new Polo now! Props to Porsche. Although the 992 is a pretty big car now, as I think you mentioned in your Turbo S review
@ I rather like those Cayenne GT models especially in a nice PTS but I don’t need the space nor do I date the daughter of an Oil Well ! You should bring one of those press cars to one of our events in the future. Stay well and catch up soon.
Not really a fan of SUV style cars, but the hybrid system is interesting. The hybrid I would like if I had the cash would be the BMW i8. The hybrid I own is a little Honda CR-Z.
The old one is still a luxurious ride and for the price of a decent one today is a no Brainerd. ... And it's a VR6, so if one's really need 700hp with a bit of tuning they can be achieved
11 seconds to 60mph?!? ROFL! Believe the 2005 Toyota Corolla was 9 seconds. Hard to wrap my head around people that bought this new off the lot back in the day. Leaving the light, they basically get smoked by cars 1/5 of the price.
@@itsjoel ah that explains it. Is it officially called Turbo or is it like before Turbo E-Hybrid? Anyway, the best Cayenne is the GT but that's not available in Europe, not that I could ever afford one.
It’s just a pointless car. Too big too expensive and too powerful. Who needs that for an SUV of that size and weight? It’ll reach a max of 10 in the Waitrose car park. I’d take the Maserati for the Waitrose shop personally 🤣 The old Cayenne has aged beautifully
In the thrust for eco sustainability the 2024 porsche is packed with that much tech and so expensive will it still be on the road in 18 years or will it be scrapped as it will cost too much to repair in 10 years time, meanwhile the old car may well still be chugging along as people still love them. Porsche are now waking up realising electric only will bankrupt them as their profits tumble as the average person cannot afford to loose 100k in depression in 2 years.
It will be interesting to see. I like the hybrid system, smaller battery presumably means less issues down the line. At the end of the day, it's still got a V8!
Utterly utterly pointless. Stop trying to defend it, its a joke nowadays. We need smaller cars given that most of us travel alone. Not to mention that very very few drivers can ever get to within 80p/c of its performance. And on a normal road no-line can. Realistically anything over 300hp is a total waste. And before you jump down my throat i love cars and have been competing for over 30yrs.
If a fast car with luxurious interior gives me joy is it pointless? If a sporty exhaust note makes my day is it a crime? Mere transport or joy of journey. If it’s legal then surely it’s the choice of the driver owner and not for others to opine on what we ‘should’ be driving. It’s all a little sanctimonious in my view. There are many joys to this world that don’t fulfil a functional ‘point’. And where does that paradigm end exactly? By your logic all art, painting, clothes, houses should serve minimal need precisely. Oops you don’t need a garden that long, or a kitchen that big or that garage you never park in or a spare room etc etc. live and let live fella. Life is too short
@@kharyandmariemanderson9347I totally agree. If we lived life only doing everything that needed doing and only buying things we need and not what we want why do you eat food with flavour why not just live off nutrient blocks and gels. Imagine how sad your life would be if you had the attitude of because it’s unnecessary means it shouldn’t exist
A buddy of mine had a 2021 GTS Cayenne Coupe until last year. In the year he owned it he lost nearly 100 grand between depreciation and maintenance and got 12.5mpg. It has since been replaced with an EV
Yep because the Tesla model S is now worthless and ten years old. So on the basis that within 10 years it will be significantly more expensive to run a pure petrol car due to tax, and the fact that battery management tech has advanced in a huge way in the last 10 years. I’d guess what you are saying is highly unlikely.

Surprising it hasn't grown massively, like a golf from 2004. Or even the original X5 pretty much being X3 size now
I think Porsche have done well to keep it smaller than it could be. Of course you still can buy the full size car which is bigger!

Hybrid system makes cars like this (which will keep getting made) make more sense
Got to admit, it's a beautiful SUV, there are a few cheap plastics and the carpet quality doesn't match rivals.
Consider though you paid 1/20th of the price of the roughly comparable 'new' model which makes the 955 a bargain really! That how I see it anyway haha

over 11 seconds to 60 id love to see it dyno’d see how much power it’s lost shouldn’t the 0-60 be closer to 9?
I prefer the less fussy look of your car, especially the rear end, but, as you said, it really needs the V8 engine.
And maybe 2 turbos
can't disagree

I wasn’t joking when I said it was slow!
@@itsjoelit shouldn’t be that slow, book time is about 8.5 seconds. There’s clearly something wrong with it.
Have you considered coil overs to try and get a better ride for yours.
I’ve not particularly, I think I would sooner change to an air suspension car
Fisting a cayenne isn't something i thought id see today
11.1? That shouldn't be possible in a 6 cylinder and definitely not in a Porsche
It's quite shocking isnt it

Yes

My new Suzuki jimny could keep up with your cayenne 😂😂
Much prefer the old one.
I thought the BMW X5 4.6is was the first performance SUV
Cayenne was first announced in 1998 so I think they at least conceived the idea first, unless you're counting the GMC Typhoon!
I reckon a brand new Škoda Fabia is cheaper than your Cayenne😂
Good blog but can you sort out the trainers as they’re not a cool look!!
I’ll stick to my 08 MX5, still makes me giggle. Great vid tho.
That new one...its a tough thing to achieve being both generic and grotesque all at the same time.
Not to your liking then? I think it looks much better in person!
@ it’s just a bit samey at the front (for me). Back end looks good though. TBH your OG mk1 has a lot more class.
Lets go🎉
They ain’t in the same book let alone page lol .
I wouldn’t change my Cayenne for any other car .
Any Porsche requires very deep pockets. Too rich for my blood unfortunately...
170 grand! Lovely car, but nahhhh 😊
It's more money than I can fathom spending. However in the mindset of someone after a Urus, Purosangue etc etc it looks rather good value
