Thanks for watching! Let me know your thoughts on Ghost Train in the comments. I also noticed that I made a reference to Sinister when I meant The Conjuring. Oops! 🙈
Nice review; and it’s great to get some insight on what the actual attraction is, as we have just got back from Thorpe Park and had the last ride of the day, and unfortunately we were stuck in the crypt for 14 minutes whilst they tried to resolve an ‘issue’. We didn’t see any wrath actor, nothing happened with the floor, we were essentially ushered out of there by another actor and onto the train. Then, when boarding the train the second time, the fake gift shop was fenced off. We stopped to look at the ride photos thinking they were real, only to be told by a member of staff ‘oh they’re fake keep moving’. So I think we got to experience about 50%, so nice video and great to know what we could have had 😉
I hated it before and I hate it now, it’s by far the worlds worst “dark ride” (if you can even call it a ride) for the incredible price it cost to build !! Every time I’ve done it, it seems to breakdown, first time no Wrath’s in the crypt and 2nd time no fake shop so we had to bypass it lol 😂
I have been on the attraction today. I loved derren brown ghost train because it was innovative. The new ghost train is nothing like that, you just have actors shouting and moving with non sense that make make you think this doesn't add up anything to the experience. I guess the change was due to the contract with Derren Brown rather than changing something not really appealing. End verdict: they could have done better.
I went on this on Thursday and i loved it, i thought it was cool if a little cheesy. The story is weird and unclear but the experience itself i liked. The actors did a great job but damn they need a better script writer, most of my group was laughing in second hand embarrassment.
This cringe fest just drags on and on. The actors get an A for effort but the script and choreography are just embarrassing. Most people were laughing instead of being scared.
Ive been to war and ive also been to prison ive also been in hopistal for majour surgery even ive even been to a taylor swift concert and none of those experiences where awful as my few minutes spent on this so called ride if i ever have a terminal disease I'll be sure visit again so it will most likely give me the push for the end of life desion i might need Oh and the waiting times for ghost train are longer than the nhs
Sounds like a yawn-fest where boredom kills! Honestly when you get to my age, all that wasted time queuing up is cutting into my expiry date and isn’t a friend to arthritis, especially if it’s too cold or too hot, (my arthritis is temperature reactive.) Anyway, I’m of the old skool where the Ghost-Train ride is through those rubber doors into a fake darkness with all that cheap Halloween crap and materials brushing over you and that crackling electric frying echoing around you. I remember years ago going to Madame Tussaud in London and also the London Dungeon and both tours ended with this weird slow strange rollercoaster ride in semi-darkness and I swear it was just so brilliant and it had this excellent Ghost-Train experience to it, absolutely brilliant experience, shame it wasn’t longer
Half of this didn’t even happen when we’ve been today. No Nun, no fake gift shop? Want scary…? My family lost an hour of their lives they’ll never get back
I went on it a first time, and it was great, but then I had a second ride, and I found it drags on for way too long. They should just use the building for something else at this point.
Oh my days finally a person giving an honest review and not overating 🤣. I liked Darren’s brown ghost train a lot and was actually quite scary. But THIS , never riding it again 😂 like a mismatched theatre performance
Finally! Someone else who doesn't automatically give it shining reviews! Honestly I found rise of the demon to be better than this (when it worked). Also have to love the Thorpe park staff member jumpscare
To be fair, a lot of the glowing reviews seem to come from the media event, where it sounds like the park put a lot more effort in... Thanks for watching 😁
I rode this for the first time two days ago. I was so excited, loving ghost trains and haunted houses, and being one of the rare fans of Derren Brown's Ghost Train. What a disappointment. The postes queue time was an hour. This time was accurate to go stand in one of the four outside laodonng areas, and wait another 20 minutes. The actors were giggling and smirking throughout, which ruined any sense of immersion. And there was no fake out gift shop! We just walked straight into the real gift shop. I had been really looking forward to seeing what they would do with the fake gift shop, and this was one of my highlights from the Derren Brown version. Such a disappointment, especially after riding Curse at Alton Towers last month. Now that was a great ghost trai .
I really do feel bad this attraction isn't better executed, as the premise itself is still pretty unique. It's just doesn't warrant many re rides like other dark rides would and the experience is downright goofy at times. The nuns don't even tie into the main plot, an extremely shoehorned conjuring movie reference if I ever saw one.
Being disappointed by a horror attraction once is enough to merit giving it chance for improvement. Being disappointed by it twice after 1 year of giving it a chance of improvement is enough to give up on any hope, and that's how it was yesterday. This attraction makes NO SENSE, most of it is just distracting overacting that distracts from the fact that barely anything else goes on in this shitty attraction. I went on this yesterday and it's still shitty as ever, so much simple things can be done that can scare people and weave a story, such as things outside the windows of the train. Don't get me wrong, I actually think Thorpe Park is doing a lot better than Alton Towers and will be a true contest against Universal Great Britain, but this attraction sucks so hard.
I went on this today. I found it underwhelming, it was fun, ish, but not scary at all, even my super jumpy 12 year old son was not as oo bothered by the he experience. I get the live actors are doing as instructed but I would have much preferred a proper ghost train rollercoaster ride like the Alton towers haunted house form 30 years ago, before they ripped it out and put some monstrosity there. The best part for me was the gift shop, I legitimately thought the ride was done haha
I went on this pile of crap yesterday - appreciate some people might enjoy it but I found it to be bloody weird. The dude at the beginning waffling on (on the screen) was kind of irritating. Get on the train and have 2 actors having an argument - must admit when the nun popped out I did say out loud “what the f£&k is that”? 🤣. I think the storyline is very weak. If they wanted to make it a tad more freaky maybe have a couple of actors in there who look like regular guests who become “possessed”. It’s just a shame that so much money was spent on this from the start when they would have been better off keeping the carousel and the arena. Are they strict on filming because they don’t want people to witness how terrible it is?! Honestly I felt a bit sorry for the actors in there - they gave it their all but they can only work with what they are given and it felt cringey.
I was laughing so god damn hard through out, didn’t help that there were a bunch of people who were screaming, most likely trying to prepare for the incoming jump scare. It just took away suspension.
Spotted us a few times in there. Share exactly the same thoughts. What a waste 😑 at least they’ve acknowledged feedback has been poor and here’s hoping they change it
Nice one! Didn't clock you amongst the sea of vloggers 😂 Was watching your Seaworld Abu Dhabi vid the other day... Happy they've acknowledged feedback, but I'm not expecting them to make wholesale changes.
@@coaster_wave I'm surprised you could make out faces with every camera device under the sun blocking everyones tan! aha and same here, it'll be subtle at best.. that's one big building for a very little... well... whatever that was
@KpopAddict94 Personally, I attended using my discovery pass, which is the cheapest Merlin pass there is at £90 for the year. Benefits of ride openings on a off-peak day 😉
I mean you complain but its still 100x better than the derren brown one cus its removed the vr. like atleast all the effects are practical and it actuly feels like a experiance rather than just oh heres a vr headset now im gonna brush your legs. i will agree the story seams a little sloppy but so was rise of the demon and i deffently feel more likely to want to ride this more than once than the derren brown one
That's a fair opinion. I hated the VR too, but felt the overall experience of DBGT at least offered *something*, even if I wasn't a fan of it. Ghost Train just doesn't really do anything. 🤷♂️
Thanks for watching! Let me know your thoughts on Ghost Train in the comments.
I also noticed that I made a reference to Sinister when I meant The Conjuring. Oops! 🙈
When we went on, we didn’t even get to go in the gift shop be at the end we just got shuffled through a different exit.
That's a bit rubbish!

Thanks! And sorry you didn't get the full experience. If it's any consolation, you didn't miss much!
Trippers was my favourite character 😍

I got petrified an got off the ride before you actually got on the train to my group then coming back when the ride was over like 'wth was that'

Yeah, I feel a bit for the actors, they're trying their best but the material is lacklustre.
One of the nuns in masks on the train was staring straight at me on the ride for a good 30 seconds😭
I wouldn't stand for nun of that!
I must be the only one who liked the VR in DB (when it worked)
I think, as with a lot of VR tech on rides, that the idea in theory was better than in practice. I do think it helped to carry the story though.

What happened to Darren brown? went on today and was just confused and very disappointed.
A combination of the IP lapsing and underwhelming response to DBGT I guess
Went on it today. Really mid, but it was okay.

Wow, so somehow it was even worse?
Damn really? I went on Thursday and had the full experience, I didn't know they could just cut parts out.
I also had no fake gift shop when I went two days ago (end of August 2023). I had been really looking forward to that, was was gutted!
Seems underwhelming but still would like to give it a go next year 😅
I went on it a first time, and it was great, but then I had a second ride, and I found it drags on for way too long. They should just use the building for something else at this point.
Yeah, that's my take too. With the size of the building and the money they've spent on it, they could have a world class dark ride system in there.
Oh my days finally a person giving an honest review and not overating 🤣. I liked Darren’s brown ghost train a lot and was actually quite scary. But THIS , never riding it again 😂 like a mismatched theatre performance
Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Gcse drama if I ever did see even my 8 year old boy didn't find it scary
@@Im-catcool13 innitttttt darrens brown ghost train was so much scarier and they actually touched u
Queued for an hour to see this and was very disappointed, it was not scary.
This ghost train is not worth the waiting time and thorpe park should close it for good

Awful. The gift shop thing did not really happen like before. They built it up better when it was Derren Browns Ghost Train.

I imagine many were annual pass holders 🙂
Generally Barry many people who can attend parks specifically for ride opening days aren't exactly struggling for money.

Jeez this sounds awful. I felt like even Derren Brown was trash after 1 go. They should've just done something new instead of trying to polish a turd

I'd be FAR too well-aware that there were just actors. Not at all scary.
Same. Although in fairness to the actors, they did their part well. It's the material that's the issue for me.
