- Hi! I'm Amanda, and I'm scent sensitive- BUT I've always loved the idea of wearing perfumes. After a lot of trial and error, I've learned that it's not the 'scent' of a perfume that gives me a headache, but the TYPE of perfume.
Thanks for watching :)

!! This is what ive been looking for. I could NEVER stand the smell of perfume but so badly have been looking for my signature scent. The only 2 scents i ever loved were oil based. Thanks for the info :)
Of course! I'm glad you found it useful:)
Do you notice any correlation to headaches and scents in other products like hair care or makeup? I have the same issues with perfumes, I am very sensitive and get overwhelmed easily. I have noticed that it might me correlated to certain chemical compounds. I have been doing some testing with products that use sugar cane alcohol instead and do not add the common UV protection chemicals that are supposed to make the scents last longer, that seems to work mush better for me.
Yes! Some lipglosses definitely give me a headache, and I have to be particularly careful around dry shampoos- a lot of them give me headaches too.
That's a really interesting theory around chemical compounds. I might start tracking other products more to see 1. what gives me a headache and 2. what ingredients are in the product.
Thanks for your comment❤
Thank you for this video! I have become sensitive to perfumes after having a baby… most perfumes give me a headache with some rare exceptions… my daughter is almost four but this perfume sensitivity is not going anywhere :( I used to love perfumes
I’ve come to this realization as well. Any type of alcohol based perfume gives me a headache almost instantly (my Chanel Madmoiselle is the worst!) I ordered a scent discovery set from Riddle and didn’t realize they were oil based. I applied them and didn’t get a headache! That’s when I figured it out! So I’ve been on the hunt for other oil based/solid perfumes. Riddle has some great ones (Ex is my personal favorite) I hear Nest is oil based. Also, Etsy perfumers have tons of oil based ones too! I’ve also come to realize that certain scents trigger it as well. Pure florals especially rose I cannot stand, or anything with a dense scent profile. More than three scent notes and I’m dizzy. So I stick to simple perfumes with a less heavy profile.
Oooo I'll have to check out Riddle and Etsy! Now that I know I'm an oil-based girly, I've been on the hunt for some more
Very interesting I never thought about switching to oil based perfume. I will give it a try.
I hope it works for you, let me know how it goes!!
Baccarat rouge 450 gives me headache. All perfumes give headache only blue perfumes works for me
I’m sensitive to smells and they trigger my migraines so I’m trying to figure out what to do
Do push ups immediately after using the perfume
It’s crazy how different we all can be! I am super sensitive and oil based perfumes seem to be the worst for me, and they’re so long lasting it’s hard to get rid of their smell. This was super interesting, thank you!
Wow that's fascinating, I love hearing about everyones different experiences with perfume. In some ways, it feels like skincare. There's so much information and what works for someone doesn't work for someone else😅
Thanks for this video. Subbed. Keep making content Amanda! ❤
Hi Amanda! Do you think spraying an alcohol based perfume into a nonscented lotion will give the same affect as an oil perfume? Since you’re mixing it with a lotion to tone it down? Thank you so much for this video, it makes so much sense! I could never do spray perfumes, however, I’ve always loved oils.
Hmmm, I'm not sure! I think it would definitely lower the intensity, so it's worth a shot!
I can't stand Burberry Her 😢 this might seem a bit exaggerated but that perfume gives me such a bad headache and also makes me kinda nauseous. But when my mom sprays it, at the end of the day, it still smells so good on her and totally different when I smell it seperately.
hahaha it's NOT fair. Perfumes people swear by up and down smell crazy on me. Like, they smell like baby wipes, or hot garbage💀 Your unique skin chemistry can affect the smell a lot, which is something I'm still learning about.
@@AmandasLifeNotes Omg yes it's never fair 😭. I trusted the hype and purchased Sol De Janeiro 62, just to get headache from 1 little spray. But somehow the scent is not that dramatic at all when my male friend wears it. 🤦♀️
Well…that Armani Gioia parfume you have in your hands is very overwhelming even if it’s classified as a freshy inoffensive. I found it very offensive. The strange thing is that I wear bold parfumes that not a lot of people tolarate, like the classic la vie est belle, so it’s strange this Armani was headache inducing to me and hurted my nose.
So, you have to check not only the carriers, but also:
1) all the notes/ingredients and see which ones don’t agree with you. 2) maybe you need parfume with simple compositions, like 2 or 3 notes max. 3) Also it depends on your mood, emotional state and the lifestyle you’re having at the moment. Believe me, all of that influence you and you you perceive fragrances. Specially if you’re sensitive to smells.
Great thoughts, thank you for sharing your experience!
So interesting you mentioned La vie est belle! I am also absolutely fine wearing La vie est belle while I am very sensitive to most perfumes…
Very helpful, thank you for sharing
I don t have a headache problem , I have a problem with itchy skin. I only wear a clean, toxic free brand because all perfumes in any form makes me itchy like I have fleas . I adore perfumes . Unlucky.
i love your content...from latam
thank you so much :,)
beautiful
Good video
Nice video 😄
Nice
The background music is so annoying 😅
Sorry! I wasn't great with editing at this point haha
I think headaches from smells stem from a psychological desire to control your environment. The oil based ones just gives you an acceptable level of control. They're not out of control, buzzing all around you like an annoying bug.
You're joking, right?
