I watched you plug in the first one and when it sparked I thought "why didn't he plug it in first, then turn the switch on, instead of just plugging it in with the switch on?" And it kinda blew my mind that the US doesn't have switched outlets.
@@xCDF-pt8kj Economics. Any effort put into a design that allows it to live longer than their official support period is a waste to the company. It really is that simple. If they don't think an improvement is going to give a definite benefit to their future profits, it won't be implemented. They know they can afford a certain percentage of defects without it affecting their brand, so going above this percentage isn't a sound investment. As long as it's not a huge amount of similar faults, like the RROD of the XB360s, it's not a problem.
@@xCDF-pt8kj Companies put more effort into things like return of investment and lifetime costs analyses than the average consumer does. Selling things that break fast works better when you sell to consumers rather than businesses. Consumers are more easily wooed by fancy gimmicks, design that makes them look wealthy, and are often easily manipulated by advertisement. While a business is made up of humans, the decisions on what equipment to invest in doesn't necessarily lie within a single person, so bad decisions will often be questioned by others before a purchase is made. This is part of why business grade laptops often cost more than consumer grade laptops even though the consumer laptop has faster components inside. Business models typically last longer and are easier to service when something breaks.

You don't know what a ground PLANE is do ya? I had to remember to figure it out. It's NOT a track, look at the big chunk of metal covered by green resin.
Incredible. Once I see a non-plated through hole (NPT) that's shorted internally, that's it. There's no guarantee that the short is within scrapable distance near the hole, and you would have never been able to scrape all the welded metal plane(s) out of there. Typically, board designers put between 10-35 mils clearance away from NPT's just for this reason, even more if it's a power supply split plane (depending on current requirements). If it's shorting even with that (granted, damaged because something goes into that hole, wearing it out), it's over, "F". Literally sitting here yelling at the screen... "You can't do that REEE!"! If the whole plane had been welded, you would have had to scratch all that copper cladding off that G10 core material and it would have still been junk... an incredible save to say the least.

I did learn something though.... these things are not very serviceable, which means easy money if you own the equipment... I happen to own the equipment :)
Me neither, still I don't understand how you can just scrape away pieces of the circuit board and still have it working? I did study some electronics almost 20 years ago, but it didn't interest me so I learnt next to nothing, even fell asleep during lectures.

NiteOwl ps3 are worthless
@@alek8835 no it ain't theres lots of games to play lol like thousands, if not millions LMAO! PS-4 and Xbox one ain't up to that many yet lol. I guess NES is useless too. Super Mario for the win!
@@alek8835I personally am a pc gamer and wouldn't buy consoles for myself but loads of people like them. the ps3 is an oldish platform and as a result, has lost a lot of value but that doesn't mean it's lost it all. remember ps4 has no backwards compatibility so people do still buy them when their old ones break so they can still play their old games. it is also a 250gb slim which gives it more value then some of the older models, even the charcoal black colour can help it sell better. just cause it is old does not mean it's worthless or got no value, if you buy them cheap enough which I did then you can still make some profit off it.
You let the magic smoke out? It'll never work now...
You just need to learn how to refill with new smoke. but it is still easier to just buy a new pre-filled chip.
I'm dying dude! Magic smoke! Lol!
I watched you plug in the first one and when it sparked I thought "why didn't he plug it in first, then turn the switch on, instead of just plugging it in with the switch on?"
Then I remembered that the US doesn't have power outlets with switches. A year or more after my wife moved from the US to Australia, she asked what the switches were for. Kinda blew her mind.
And it kinda blew my mind that the US doesn't have switched outlets.

Shorting at the screw, no surprise.
Built-in obselescence.

UA-cam been aggressively recommending this and I've been dodging it for days. You win UA-cam.
