I too am a “rebel” whenever the flock follows the leader 😂 However, when you mentioned in your last episode that the original ranunculus pattern is free, I jumped on it 😂 to look for it. I found it, and the rest is history. I am really enjoying it! Sun Dragon Tips & Tricks UA-cam channel is a great resource with tutorials for this pattern. Saved me from frogging many times. Thank you for all of your time recording, and all of your valuable “enabling”! 😂❤
FYI. Your channel might not be monetized, but people still see commercials. You just do not get any profit from it. Aside from that, it was a lovely episode 😊
This is a wonderful time of year to be in the Carolinas. Enjoy your time away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get away for awhile this winter. Having cararact surgery Wednesday so that's one issue done 🤞
Yay to you for keeping your family first! You won’t regret that decision when they are grown and gone. I’m a former homeschool mom and I’m so thankful I spent those years with my kids while they were at home. Now they are married and one is expecting first child any day now. I really appreciate your podcast and always look forward to seeing you here. 🙂
Thank you so much! Yes! I am SO thankful for the years I had with my kids during their homeschooling years. Lily, my youngest, is in her senior year of high school, so I'm almost done with that season of my life.
I just love the dark long sleeve Rananculous. Just everyone is making the Sophie Scarf love the red one. Those socks are a winner. I sent you an email but you are busy. Take care ❤😊❤
You asked for ideas for a shaw patternl to use your fall yarn. I just watched "Stitching the High Notes" a day or so ago. She made the Peacock Shawl by Expression Fiber Arts. It's very pretty and uses multiple colors. I'm going to purchase the pattern myself. Suzanne.
I have watched you from the beginning and have enjoyed them all. You are such a sweet person and I understand how you are not able to make comments. Love you handwork and jealous of your talents. Oh I have seen some of Ruby Rose podcasts and she is very talented for someone so young. Take care
What a nice podcast. So much knitting. I need to get the ranunculus on my needles and it really does knit up fast. Sounds like a fun get away. Beach and yarn, I love it.
Hi Amber, Emily with Salt City Knits has several shawl patterns out and a new one she just released for 2 skeins that is very pretty. Just a thought for your shawl. The colors you have are beautiful. So are all your makes. Thank you for your podcast. All the best! Sheila
Loved catching up ,,,Sweet Amber,,!!! Love the chat on the ranculus,,,,,,Not cast on yet,,,,, Love note sweater is in needles,,,,and working g on lots of socks now,,,!! Another sweet podcast. Great idea to wear your long sleeve tops under your summer tees. Amber I know you want to be a rebel and not follow the trends but I think that's the 3rd time you've said that this year with your project choices. No shame in your trend choice game Amber. It's ok to be inspired by other peoples projects and want to make one for yourself :) Oh my goodness, those de-stash yarn colors are gorgeous!!! I'm a sucker for that pollen yellow color. Have fun on your beach trip, I hope you share all the goodies you find at the yarn shop.
Haha. You're probably right. So maybe I should reword it, and say that I only knit what I want to knit, not what other people think I should be knitting. So if I really like a pattern, I should knit it! Lol.
Just a heads up…I heard you talk about the The Salty Sheep yarn shop. Prior to 2020, I and a group of knitting friends made several trips to Emerald Isle as a knitting treat for us and we spent each day, from the time they opened until closing time each day, for a week at the Salty Sheep. I can’t remember for sure when the shop was flooded and destroyed by one of the last few hurricanes that came through there, but they have since moved from their cozy little shop at the bottom of the hill to a location on higher ground, but still in Swansboro. I have not been to the new location as of yet. Please tell Peggy, the owner, that Penny and Anna are sending a big hello from Indiana!
Hello Anna! Yes, Peggy told me all about the hurricane and how it decimated her shop when I first visited her in 2021. Her new location is right along the main highway that runs from the isle into Swansboro. It's a beautiful, cozy shop inside!
I just loved this as usual Amber! You have a wonderful and blessed trip, and enjoy that yarn shop! I would look forward to that so much too! I just love that blue/teal yarn for you! You will look so super and lovely in it! Yea! Enjoy the fall. 😊 🍁 🍃
I love your vintage fall socks - that is a perfect description 😍 thanks for sharing the row counter app, too - I'm excited to give it a look. It was great catching up with you and your makes, as always! I hope you have a fun vacation!
Just discovered your channel, and loved the episode. Your sweaters are lovely, and now I want to knit a Ranunculus. I too have held out from all the hype, but seeing yours makes me want to try. There is a yarn crawl in my area this weekend, and I am putting that pattern in my bag to shop for yarn! If you ever get to the more northern beaches of the OBX, there is a lovely yarn shop in Kitty Hawk. Its my favorite part of the beach trip too!
I have a pair of knit socks, ONE pair and it’s in the seventies stripes color way ❤ I wish I would get bit by the sock knitting bug but I never do, but I love the product! PS, I have been obsessing over the Léloa shawl by Berangere Cailliau and I think those two fall yarns would look lovely in it!
So you've knit that yarn? I think it looks like it would be such a fun stripey fabric knit up! Thank you for the shawl suggestion. I haven't heard of that one yet.
I really liked knitting the Usonian shawl by Dee O'Keefe. It's an asymmetrical pattern on ravelry for $6. The stripes and lace patterns kept my interest and visually appealing. I knit it for my mom and she always gets compliments when she wears it. Also, I've been wanting to knit the ranunculus for some time now, and your knit-along has given me the push to start it! Thanks for creating such interesting podcasts.
Me too! I have had the ranunculus pattern for a year and a half and still am not making it! It is sort of intimidating also, with all the pages of instructions. I'm afraid I will mess it up and be unhappy. Yours looks great on you, and does look nice in whatever color it is. It does look navy onscreen. Thank you for these podcasts. Always enjoyable!
Sun Dragon Tips and Tricks has quite an extensive video tutorial index for knitting the Ranunculus. That might be helpful to you if you decide to knit it.
Hi Amber. Thanks for the in depth look at the Ranunculus. It helped me to understand the appeal of it. I love your black appearing navy one. Maybe I will look for that yarn in navy and give it a go. I love those mid century socks. I will look for the yarn. I appreciate all the tips and tricks and if you use notes do it to help you only. You can't please everyone right? I enjoy the casual way you present. Makes it feel like we are sitting together chatting. Thanks!❤
We spent a week at Emerald Isle the end of April and I went to the Salty Sheep - what a great yarn store. It was still a little cool for the beach so we went over to New Bern one day and to Beaufort, NC another day. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Another excellent podcast Amber. I’ve never knit a Ranunculus but have the pattern and started one a few times. I’ve got the same blue Wool of the Andes in my stash and I’m sold on yours. What size needle did you use? Yours looks absolutely beautiful
I have knit multiple versions of the sequence shawl, Rizumu by Cecilia Campochario, it's my most work shawl and I love the rythm of the knit. my 2nd fav shawl is by veera valamaki, Stay soft shawl.
Hi Amber, I enjoyed your podcast (as always). I've knit the Cheri-cheri shawl, by Ambah O'Brien, in 2 colors and it's very pretty. It's a 2 skein project. Happy Fall knitting. Enjoy your trip to the ND beach!
I just started a two color shawl with similar colors! I'm doing the Ballycare shawl by Brenda Brayfield. I've been casting on so many things to make sure I have enough to keep me busy on our road trip and vacation 😂
If I remember correctly I think I saw Scout in McWalker yarns in Millvale PA which is also western PA if you can’t find it at the beach but still want to support a local yarn store!
I love the Oak Forest Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon. It's a gorgeous lacy 2 colour shawl that might work, or the Sweet Serenity Shawl by Forest City Knits, which is one that I'm working on now with pretty eyelets. I'm not sure if the yarn weight matches your yarn. Sorry, I forgot what you said it was. But I think these are 2 different weights, so hopefully one will work for you.
Hi Amber, I’ve gotten a good start on my ranunculus, probably close to the ribbing now. I’ll be having trigger thumb release surgery on Monday so I’m really hoping to finish it this weekend! I hope you enjoy your bag!
Hi Susan! I LOVE my bag! I loved both of them and had a hard time deciding which one to keep! Thank you so much. What is the recovery time for your surgery? Will you not be able to knit for awhile?
I use My Row Counter also. I love it. I've not used any of the tools you mentioned, but love how you can download Ravelry patterns. I will check out the other tools. My goal for next year is the Ranunculus! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Amber. It’s funny, but I have almost the same two skeins of yarn for a shawl as you do. A nice gold tonal and a variegated yellow, cream and gold with speckles. I got it last year at the NJ sheep and Wool festival from Youghioghenny Yarns who are from PA. Anyway here are some patterns I have been pondering on for a two skein shawl. Leya, Billow, Drifter, 4-ever in Blue Jeans, and Pay it Forward. Enjoy! 😊
I've never been bitten by the sock bug, I've seen numerous adorable patterns, still nope. 🤷 Maybe because I don't wear socks that much, even in the winter. I STILL don't understand not being monetized, you have great content!!! That hue loco is GORGEOUS!!!! Since you mentioned the "Pebble Shawlette" a while back... I've made TWO!!! I rarely make anything twice!! I now have the pattern memorized. 😂 Right now I'm doing a sample knit for an Indy dyer, "jujuy", have about 18 rows left...18 LONG rows, well over 400 stitches & it grows EVERY row, probably going to end up with about 500 stitches and it's garter stitch, beautiful yarn, but I'm starting to get bored. Wish me luck!!😂 Did I mention it has a picot bind off??
Hi Patti! Yes, that makes sense why you wouldn't want to knit socks if you don't wear them! I'm so glad that you liked the Pebble Shawlette! It's a great little simple pattern. Good luck with your current project. That is a TON of stitches. Oh my. No wonder you're starting to feel bored.
Oh my! I love the Midcentury sock color way. So pretty. I love a good heavier weight yarn for socks. Thanks for another great episode and I hope you are having a wonderful week!
I have knit this shawl many times but I usually use KnitCircus Yarns for it. Your yarn may work. It’s called Summer Camp by Laura Aylor. Loved your podcast today and thank you for all you do.❤
I love the row counter app. I’ve only used it to keep track of my rows and stitches when I don’t have pen and paper. I had no idea it had all of those other bonuses.
How many colors in Vertices Unite? That’s a beautiful shawl. Isn’t it funny how a knitter plans for projects and yarn first and foremost when a trip is planned?
Take a look at the Skymning Shawl by Sofia Capelle. It is written for sport weight, but I, and many others knit it in fingering and it's quite a generous size. It is very easy to knit, but the outcome is stunning. (Sofia is a lovely lady too)
I don't know if not having commercials is the problem for monetization. Roxanne Richardson's channel doesn't have commercials, but I think she's monetized. Also, Ross on Smells Like Yarn doesn't have commercials either & I thought he was monetized. I could be wrong. Actually there's a UA-camr near you, Littlejohn's Yarn who is very knowledgeable obout monetization. She has a crochet channel and encourages emailed questions. I think she also has some videos about monetization.
Love the top you’re wearing but I would have to agree that maybe bring your show notes next time as it was a little confusing 😂 I have gone back and watched most of your podcasts and I enjoy listening to how you tell us about your knits. We have the same style. Happy knitting.
The Crandell shawl works up nicely with single ply yarn using two colors. I just finished the shawl using 2 Hedgehog fibers singles, and I will make the shawl again.
I can never get colors to look right in pictures. I love your Sweater and funny thing is I had started the Summer Anker before doing the Ranunculus. As for two colored shawls I think the Fallston is nice, lace and garter combo that really highlights the colorway. Another good one is the Slip Slip Brick, and free to boot, but the contrast may not be high enough for the mosaic shawl. Again, color in vids is tricky. The Slip Slip Brick is one of my all time faves though.
New subscriber here and I’m enjoying your podcast! I think the two-colour Zorzal shawl by Lisa Hannes would work well for your yarn. I’ve made one in white and blue solids, and would like to try another with a solid and a variegated yarn. Cheers!
Thanks for the row counter app recommendation. I’ve knitted two two-color shawls that came to mind when you asked for suggestions. The Usonian and the Exordium. I’m not sure if they’re the shape you like, but I enjoyed knitting them 😊.
Hmm, yep I want to make a ranunculus in worsted now. I've made one in dk before. But, finished it in late March and it is a wool cotton blend. . . with enough wool to be way too hot to wear in the heat of summer here. I plan to wear it a lot this winter/fall once we get below 90s
I bought and downloaded the ranunculus buts it’s in metrics. When I converted it the cast on was the same as for a sock. Not sure what’s wrong here. Plus the different cast on. Very confusing to me.
I’m now looking up the row counting app. Thank you for the information. Does UA-cam have customer service? You have the subscribers and I would think the watch hours. Then you’d have more money for yarn 💚🧶💚
Recommend the Summer Solstice shawl by Janina Kallio
Thank you!
I too am a “rebel” whenever the flock follows the leader 😂 However, when you mentioned in your last episode that the original ranunculus pattern is free, I jumped on it 😂 to look for it. Aww, you're so sweet, Jeanette! I'm glad you were able to find the original free pattern. I wasn't sure if it was still out there to be found!
FYI. Your channel might not be monetized, but people still see commercials. You just do not get any profit from it.
Aside from that, it was a lovely episode 😊
I didn't realize that. I have asked people if they saw commercials in past episodes, and everyone has always said no. This is good to know. Thank you!
The last 2-color shawl I knit was Pure Joy by Joji Locitelli. It came out beautifully. I would recommend it.
Thank you! Multiple people have recommended this one, so it must be a good one!
This reminds me that I started a Sophie Scarf last winter...it's still on my needles!
I love the Row Counter app! I love the Pure Joy shawl by Joji Locatelli for a 2 color shawl, especially with one tonal & one varigated
Thank you so much for that recommendation!

The Bally Clare shawl would look lovely in those colors. It’s a pattern on ravelry

Dungannon shawl is a pretty engaging shawl and one of my favorite 2 color shawls.
Thank you, Robin!
Love the sweater you are wearing on the 10/04 podcast. It has a beautiful yoke.
Thank you, Mary!
Hi Amber, you might like Ballyclare Shawl by Brenda Brayfield.
Thank you, Nancy!
I love the red POP of color! I'm knitting the same pattern in red too. 😂 That will look beautiful!

So glad I happened upon your podcast. I really enjoyed it. I've liked and subscribed. I'm sure I'll go back to see some earlier episodes.

Hello from Mounds, Illinois. The row counter app is free in the app stores.
Hi Janet!
Maybe I will finally give in an join the Ranunculus band wagon. LOVING our early spring sunshine today from New Zealand
I just loved this as usual Amber! You have a wonderful and blessed trip, and enjoy that yarn shop! I would look forward to that so much too!
I just love that blue/teal yarn for you! You will look so super and lovely in it! Yea!
Enjoy the fall. 😊 🍁 🍃
Thank you so much, Cassandra!
I love your vintage fall socks - that is a perfect description 😍 thanks for sharing the row counter app, too - I'm excited to give it a look. It was great catching up with you and your makes, as always! I hope you have a fun vacation!
You are so welcome!
I plan on eventually knitting the Fletching!
I cast on my first Ranunculus since your last video and really enjoying. Thank you.
Yay!
@@alovelyyarnyes I love Patons too! I have a bunch I bought when Hobby Lobby marked it down. Now just to knit it all…
I really liked knitting the Usonian shawl by Dee O'Keefe.
Hi Diana! Thank you so much for watching and for the shawl recommendation!
Thanks!❤
Thank you so much, Dana. You are absolutely the sweetest and such an encouragement!
We spent a week at Emerald Isle the end of April and I went to the Salty Sheep - what a great yarn store. It was still a little cool for the beach so we went over to New Bern one day and to Beaufort, NC another day. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Those are also two other beautiful, interesting towns to visit when you're in that area.
Another excellent podcast Amber. I’ve never knit a Ranunculus but have the pattern and started one a few times. I’ve got the same blue Wool of the Andes in my stash and I’m sold on yours. What size needle did you use? Yours looks absolutely beautiful
I used a size 9 for the body and size 7 for the ribbing. And thank you so much for your kind words.
I have knit multiple versions of the sequence shawl, Rizumu by Cecilia Campochario, it's my most work shawl and I love the rythm of the knit. my 2nd fav shawl is by veera valamaki, Stay soft shawl.
Thank you for all of these suggestions!
Hi Amber, I enjoyed your podcast (as always). I've knit the Cheri-cheri shawl, by Ambah O'Brien, in 2 colors and it's very pretty. It's a 2 skein project. Happy Fall knitting. Enjoy your trip to the ND beach!
Thank you for this suggestion!
Thanks for the app recommendation, I think this will really help me a lot while I’m taking the train and I love the additional features
You're so welcome!
I just started a two color shawl with similar colors! I'm doing the Ballycare shawl by Brenda Brayfield.
I've been casting on so many things to make sure I have enough to keep me busy on our road trip and vacation 😂
Haha! I know that feeling! I'm trying to figure out what i want to take! The most important packing decision. Lol
If I remember correctly I think I saw Scout in McWalker yarns in Millvale PA which is also western PA if you can’t find it at the beach but still want to support a local yarn store!
Hello Sarah! Millvale is a little under an hour for me, but I have never been to that yarn store. I need to get myself there sometime!
Try the Sugarhouse Shawl by Emily Clawson. It uses 2 skeins of yarn, fingering weight with at least 437 yards of yarn in each skein.
Thank you! I love the name!
I love the Oak Forest Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon. It's a gorgeous lacy 2 colour shawl that might work, or the Sweet Serenity Shawl by Forest City Knits, which is one that I'm working on now with pretty eyelets. Hi Susan! I LOVE my bag! I loved both of them and had a hard time deciding which one to keep! Thank you so much. What is the recovery time for your surgery? Will you not be able to knit for awhile?
@@alovelyyarn I think recovery is fairly quick, barring any complications. Hopefully, I'll be back to knitting in a couple of weeks.
@@susansmith3264 That's good!!! Even two weeks without knitting would be hard for me! Lol
The Unwind Shawl by Tracie Millar is a great, meditative pattern that really highlights the richness of variegated yarn.
Thank you for this suggestion!
As for a 2 colour shawl, my favourite pattern is the Silver River Shawl by Helen Stewart.
Thank you, Karen!
Hi, saving alert! If you have a Joann’s close by they are having a buy 2 get one free. So I got my favorite pains kroy socks yarn at $4.99 😮
Oh wow! I saw this too late! My local Joann's doesn't even carry it anymore. There is one a little farther away that carries some colors.
I use My Row Counter also. I love it. I've not used any of the tools you mentioned, but love how you can download Ravelry patterns. I will check out the other tools. My goal for next year is the Ranunculus! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yes, it's a great app. I just started using some of the features that I have never used before.
Hi Amber. It’s funny, but I have almost the same two skeins of yarn for a shawl as you do. A nice gold tonal and a variegated yellow, cream and gold with speckles.
Thank you for this info, Bonnie! I will look that UA-cam channel up!
Love the top you’re wearing but I would have to agree that maybe bring your show notes next time as it was a little confusing 😂 I have gone back and watched most of your podcasts and I enjoy listening to how you tell us about your knits. We have the same style. Happy knitting.
Thank you so much for watching!
The Crandell shawl works up nicely with single ply yarn using two colors. I just finished the shawl using 2 Hedgehog fibers singles, and I will make the shawl again.
Thank you so muchf for the suggestion!
I think the Zorzal shawl by Lisa Hannes will be perfect for those yarns.
Thank you, Giselle!
Ebba’s Garden Shawl by Joji Locatelli knits up really fast in two colors of fingering weight.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the shawl suggestions! I haven't heard of either of those, so I'm excited to look them up!
New subscriber here and I’m enjoying your podcast! I think the two-colour Zorzal shawl by Lisa Hannes would work well for your yarn. I’ve made one in white and blue solids, and would like to try another with a solid and a variegated yarn. Cheers!
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing AND for the shawl suggestion!
Thanks for the row counter app recommendation. I’ve knitted two two-color shawls that came to mind when you asked for suggestions. The Usonian and the Exordium. I’m not sure if they’re the shape you like, but I enjoyed knitting them 😊.
You are so welcome! And thanks for those recommendations!
I use the row counter app. I use the notes in the counter give me the next row in the pattern. It is the best knitting app I have e used
I love it! I just recently started using more of the app's features!
I'm waiting for some Drops KidSilk to come in the mail so that I can start my next one!
Now I want to cast on another ranunculus 🖤
Haha. Yeah, this black one is right up your alley!
I bought and downloaded the ranunculus buts it’s in metrics. When I converted it the cast on was the same as for a sock. Not sure what’s wrong here. Plus the different cast on. Very confusing to me.
@muddybootsmaker has a nice 2 colored shawl
Oh, she does! I didn't realize that. Thanks! I'll look it up!

You may want to go back to writing notes before you record your podcast. Very few people can create a cohesive presentation on the fly.
Thank you for your input and for watching.
I’m now looking up the row counting app. Thank you for the information.
Does UA-cam have customer service? You have the subscribers and I would think the watch hours. Then you’d have more money for yarn 💚🧶💚
So, the monetization is done through Ad Sense. I have contacted their help line twice and have not gotten a response.
