    Thank you for existing! And thank you for making crafting full of joy and confidence. You are an excellent teacher! Your down to earth abilities to make/help people understand and figure things out comes from your empathy of people’s varying abilities to “get it”. I am not talking about this video in particular but about all the vids of yours I go to when I need to be explained something in a way so I get it. You rock and definitely have a great talent for explaining , showing, demonstrating. Love you and your demeanour. God bless you. ❤

    Thank you! I'd rather know the full explanation to make my own choice any day than have a pattern tell me what to do, whether it's for my own good or not lol. This was extremely helpful and easy to understand.

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this series! And especially for this video within the series.
    My daughter is neurodivergent, and absolutely HATES restrictive clothing. She doesn’t like heavy garments, or clothing in which she can’t move easily. She loves garments that are light as a feather, roomy, soft and warm. That’s quite a wish list and not always an easy one to fulfil.
    That’s why I’ve been eyeing the ranunculus sweater pattern. I would love to knit it either in lace weight merino, or a mohair-and-silk blend. I’m a spinner and can customise my yarns to meet the softness/lightness criteria. But my daughter doesn’t like clothing to bunch up too much either, and before buying a pattern, I really like to check whether I am at risk of making her something that bunches up in uncomfortable ways for her, causing me to have to rip out large portions of a pattern that took me quite a few hours to knit.
    Your videos have reassured me. I have multiple cast-on options. I don’t need to pick a size before section 4. The raglan section might make it possible to have her try on the sweater once I hit the stitch count for size 1 and decide if I need to move on to size 2 (she’s very slender).
    A question: which cast-on method would you advise as the strongest one? The top of the sweater carries all the weight and a lot of the stress. A fine yarn of the type of Drops Kid Silk Mohair is very fine and it would break her heart if it ripped whilst putting it on. I could double up the yarn just for the top or even just the cast-on, and then switch to a single thread, but I’d like your thoughts on it as well.
    Edit: bought the pattern, got the yarn I’m planning to use, binged my way through the entire Ranunculus assistance playlist. Got my daughter to pick an iteration of the sweater and now all I need to do is cast on… YAY!
    Even went through my stash and I’ve got another yarn set aside for yet another version in slightly thicker yarn for a warmer, equally soft version to treat myself to. And I’ve got a sneaking suspicion my niece is going to want one when she sees one of them finished. Showed my Mom the pattern and pictures. Could be she’ll have me make her one as well. 😅

    Thank you Rebecca! Been meaning to knit this for a while, my issue is I want to use a smaller needle and I know I can size up in in the pattern but am worried the difference in the gauge will affect the decreases/increases. Gonna just go with it…it’s just yarn after all!

    You are making me feel much more comfortable. I've been wanting to try the ranunculus for some time even though I am not a truly experienced knitter and I've been anxious about it. I do have some lovely Carpe Diem Nueva DK that I will pair with some Mouton Noir both in a lovely shade of turquoise. My plan was to start on New Years day but I think I may try to cast on today and see how it goes. Exciting!

    You are indeed a natural at teaching. I have gained so much confidence to try new techniques etc from your videos. As an older lady short with a petite frame, but with bigger boobs I find that I prefer positive ease and some drape.It took a bit of trial and error to make sure that I didn't look swamped , but the first jumper that I knitted and felt happy with I now keep as a template for new projects . I like it for layering over a shirt. turtle neck etc. It detracts from the fact that my boobs are heading South.😆😉🙃.I appreciate that this wouldn't be of any use for people in a warmer part of the world, but great here in Wales over the winter.
    Once again thank you so much. Your company is both a joy and comfort .Bless you and best wishes to you and those you love.

    Thank you, Thank you for this great explanation. I have been knitting for over 50 yrs and cannot wrap my head sizes 1-11! What happened to regular sizes ??? My measurements are about the same as yours 43-44? I am math challenged so we are not friends😢. I’ve been told “but you are a knitter”. There is no shame in admitting the truth. Once upon a time, it was easier. Swatching for gauge was not written in the instructions. Sorry for my long venting. I can now start with a size 8 . 🤓

    Thank you for this series. I have been knitting about 2 years and I have mainly focused on sweaters. I have made several top down raglans and cardigans and been pleased with the results. I would like to make a Ranunculus, but I haven't made a lace yoke sweater yet. I really like the ones I have seen that are more fitted. I have a 42 inch bust, so I'm thinking maybe I should pick something else if the smallest size is 46? I don't want anything that big...but I'm not sure how other people, who look smaller than me, got such a nice fitted one?

    • @cmb4280
      @cmb4280 2 роки тому +1

      You could try a smaller needle size so you don’t have as much positive ease.

    • @miziacamargo
      @miziacamargo 2 роки тому +1

      You can see others Ranunculus at Ravelry page. If you want more fitted you can down your needles. My 1st I needed to up a needle because my yarn was Worsted. And it's ok with only 2 positive ease. Make your yoke, take off the needles and try to figure out how size you want to pick up. Good lucky!

  • @buntybarton1517
    @buntybarton1517 4 місяці тому

    Surely you need to get the gauge right first?

  • @aninehartog3950
    @aninehartog3950 Рік тому

    I also need to say - Thank you for existing! I did not get gauge. I got 18 sts on a 4.5 mm and I do not want to go down with the needle site. My bust is my wildest point and that is 51 ". I divide 18/4 and get 4.5 - 51 +18 = 69". 4.5 x 69 = 311 stiches. I am going to make size 11 - Do you agree?

    I looked at the pattern and noticed, when you got to the division of the sleeves, it took ( depending on the sizing) that the body stitches increased but the sleeve stitches got smaller. I’m making one for my granddaughter and she wants the big puffy sleeves also. How do I do this when the stitch count gets less with the larger sizes. Or am I reading the pattern wrong?

    I think for my body lace weight bigger but smaller with thicker yarn. My boobs are dd and my bootie a 0. A little over 4 inches difference and I am petite. Huge ease makes me look like a tank on toothpicks. Love your advice
