    This was extremely helpful to establish the correct hair regimen . I stopped the video and did the porosity test which is low porosity. I need to adjust my regimen. I did the big chop 2 months ago after 40+ years of using relaxers. Thank you so much for this information and the clay hair mask link.

      Based on that it sounds like a high porosity but I'm not you so idk how true that is. Besides the whole water method another way to find out your porosity is by feeling a single strand of hair. Just pass a finger up and down. If it feels smooth, this is because the cuticles are flat meaning its a low porosity, if its rough throughout the entire strand, high porosity and if it's in between its medium. Feel more than one strand of hair though cause it can be a mixed bag.

    Great video. I love argan oil. But I've found that my hair loves jamaican black castor oil. Thanks to your video I now know that my hair is normal porosity. I moisturize with my leave in conditioner, jamaican black castor oil and blue magic hair grease (blue magic in the morning before work and jamaican black castor oil after work)

    I have low porosity hair. I shampoo once a week, deep heat condition once a week and cowash twice a week. Daily I only use water with argan or jojoba oil. I find using creams are too heavy and dull/dry my hair. But I use my own shea butter and olive oil mix every few days. My hair is shiny and soft but I could cut down the cowashes but as I travel by train I hate dirty hair. What do you recommend then to keep my hair clean if I didn't cowash??

    Thank u so much for this video,because I had no idea what my hair porosity was,now I know and I have low Porosity hair. Now I have a better understanding and the knowledge how to deal with my hair and the correct products to use for my hair, I try the low porosity method and I see a huge different in my hair. I did the deep condition,with the apple cider vinegar and raw honey and my hair came out amazing, a huge different from what I was just using anything in my hair. So my question to you is how often should I wash my hair? because I used to cold wash all the time and seeing that I have low porosity hair and u said u shouldn't cold Wash as often or at all, when should I wash my hair and how often? Before seeing this video I would shampoo once a month to give it a good cleaning with shea moisture and cold wash once a week. So how do I transition from doing that with my low porosity hair??

    I did the water test and my hair did not sink. At the same time i just put a leave in conditioner 2 hours ago and my hair is dry not its just a lil greasy. Also my hair soaks water easily. Also oil dosent seat on my hair it sinks then later its dry not very dry and it just leave a little greasy. I dont even know the my porosity at this point

      DJ Afrique Same here. My hair will float for several hours before finally sinking to the bottom - if it sinks. That makes me think low porosity. After I wash, condition, deep condition I let it air dry and it will be completely dry in under 10 minutes. That makes me think high porosity. Oh and after it’s dry, even though I’ve put products in (to me) it feels like straw. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    How do you know if your hair likes a certain product or not?

    • @NiaHope
      @NiaHope  6 років тому +4

      Lakisha D I always ascribe to the idea that if my hair 1) absorbs the product, 2) FEELS soft/hydrated, 3) STAYS soft/hydrated for 24hrs+ it likes the product.
      There are TONS of products I’ve tried that my hair absorbs, but then leaves it feeling dry and brittle and I know right away it’s NOT for me. So in short, I really “listen” to my hair. If a product doesn’t FEEL & LOOK GOOD in my hair, it’s not for me. I hope this helps 😊😊

    • @kinkcurlandgo2578
      @kinkcurlandgo2578 6 років тому +2

      This is a tough one. I thought my hair loved as I am leave in conditioner because of the slip and how soft it felt but my hair always looked dry after I used it when I air dried my hair. I tried the Camille rose honey leave in conditioner and I hate the way it felt because it was rough however my hair looked shiny and retained moisture after it dried.

      Oh nooo 😂 Try washing your hair with a good clarifying shampoo like Kinky Curly Come clean, while your hair is still wet add in a leave-in (my fav is kinky Curly not today), then add your favorite light oil after towel drying and your hair is still damp, then add your favorite *water-based* Cream. Since it’s winter time you, can seal in everything with a heavier oil or shea/mango butter. This should get your hair super moisturized for days. If you try this and it works, let me know!! 💕💕
