You're absolutely gorgeous and funny! I'm a white girl with waist long damaged hair with a bit of curl, and I'm binge-watching you today and learning so much. I mention my race bc even if I can't apply your tips to my hair, it's inspiring me to get out of my depression and take better care of myself as I'm a crying mess. You have a unique gift in front of the camera, I've been in media for over twenty years...your delivery is perfect on camera.
I’m not a woman and I’m not black but I saw this on one of YT’s Top 10 lists and just watched the whole thing. It was mesmerizing. And your hair came out damn good.
i don't know how or why this vid came up in my suggestions BUT!!!! As a British born male of Caribbean (Jamaican) heritage....... Vaseline was always and continues to be, in the house! - Vaseline was used for the following.... a backup "hair grease", Elbow Cream, Knee Cream, Foot (Heel Back) cream, Lip Balm, Hand Cream, Face Cream (In the winter), Shoe Shine for black school shoes, Mixed with Vicks Vapour rub and "Bay Rum" for your chest when sick, To reduce the welts on your skin after you get beaten LMAO! The list goes on..... haha
I tried this style this morning and got compliments on it! One lady came up to me and asked for my barber's phone number! I did this style in a rush, so the scarf stayed on about 10 minutes. I didn't have vaseline so I used Isoplus's Castor oil hair & scalp conditioner. I also didn't have Garnier Fructis Edge Control so I used Murray's Loc-Lock gel. The style for me turned out pretty well!
Youngstahs - back in the day, when we sat on the stoop and did twist outs and cornrows for free, we used blue magic, royal crown, baseline, etc and our hair grew!! This turned out nice Nia! That seemed like a lot of Vaseline but I guess it worked. You are lovely sis. Thanks for being our guinea chica!
I just want to thank you and the others who provide the tutorials...I chopped my hair off last winter and didn't know how to manage it... I'm in love with Cantu products and I have noticed that the Black Jamaican Castor oil mixed with Tea Tree oil has truly grown my hair in the last two months...thanks again...
This vid was TOO hilariously delightful!! SOME (not all!) of my fave moments: your humorously nervous approach to using Vaseline in your hair (and you bravely taking the plunge anyway for the sake of science LOL!!); Jaelah’s “OK, so, Girl, lemme tell you ‘bout these baby hairs!”; and you saying “At this point my edges are as slayed as they’re gonna get, so let me move on...”. This was DEF fun to watch!! LOVE your energy & honesty. Keep up the wonderful work !!! 😍😍😍😘😘😘💐
YESSS gurl...and I used to watch my cousins get their hair Vaselined and hot combed with the smoke and all. And a cinched neck sometimes and they betta not say shit...LOL!!
Vaseline is been in my beauty regiment all my life Hair Face Body did she nervous about using in her hair Oooh these young babies don't know the real struggle her dad told her about it That's so adorable
In thought anyone with a speck of hair knew about using Vaseline or Blue Magic ...that White Rose and Crown Royal on their hair. One of my grandmas used a hair promenade called Murray's. So it's been around for centuries in the black communities.
Hey Nia! We are at the same exact length as we buzz cut at the same time. We also have VERY similar hair textures! I currently have my scarf on and followed the vid to a "T!!!" When I remove my scarf, I hope my hair looks as beautiful and yours and Jaelah's does!!! ETA my hair looks BEAUTIFUL NIA!!! I will be sticking with this process until my hair is to long for this! Curls and waves EVERYWHERE!!!
Firstly; I’ve gotta say how gorgeous you are and I love the way you presented that entire video. I was smiling throughout and giggling in between 😉you’re a beautiful soul. I’m a black South African woman (with short natural hair) and Vaseline is a must have in every black house hold; used for absolutely every part of your body, yes including the hair lol. It’s a lip balm, body moisturizer and hair “softener” as we have courser-textured hair. A small comb like the one you use right in the beginning wouldn’t even go through our natural hair without the help of water and Vaseline lol. Having said that though I’m going to try this hair-greasing (yep that’s a lot of products that went into that) Wish me luck with the edge-control part 🙃
When I was a child we did not use a lot of products in our hair. We washed it twice a month and greased our hair with blue magic or vaseline (depending on what money looked like) we all had healthy thick natural hair. Just got mine shaved off Wednesday because of damage over the years from perms, bleaching....etc. great video!
I grew up with Vaseline and gel Now I'm trying all the other products but nothing can beat back Vaseline and gel . It was leave in conditioner,Vaseline and gel ,old time days here I come . By the way your hair looked beautiful 😍
This was a fun video, you had me laughing girlll 😭 I did this hair style yesterday after I watch the video a few nights ago and it came out GREAT I loved it. Thanks, you should do more videos like this. New sub💕
Vaseline...saving lives forever. -best lip balm -makes breasts firmer -makes skin glow -makes curls pop -prtoects eyebrows before using a peel off mask .......and many other uses ❤❤❤
My grandmother used to put Vaseline in my hair when she did my hair and my aunts hair. And are here used to grow like crazy. I think I'm about to buy me a bottle of Vaseline.
If you or your mom ever put hair grease in your hair (Blue Magic for example) then you've had vaseline in your hair before. Vaseline is the brand name of petroleum jelly which is the first ingredient in every hair grease that I've seen.
When doing these natural hair journies one needs to consider, their family background also, each person's hair grows at different rates etc, one could have had thick/full hair in the beginning. Vaseline, that's all I use, that's basically all I've ever used (it smooths the hair, helps it stay flat), always been natural, never had a perm etc. Your look marvelous with short hair , you are rocking that do, some people look good no matter what style they have.
Vaseline is just my love..I've used it with water to curl my TWA hair..and it really works..thanks to some comments I scrolled down on Nia hopes's vids....Love you Nia....u are my hair's saver
Girl you can get your life with Vaseline, it keeps your hair and scalp from drying out. I love the look I think I will try and style my hair like that it's fresh.
She is sooo adorable, sooo cute. I have watched this video a few times. I have a full smile. I love Nia. Thanks, for being you. And oh, like others, I grew up in the islands. Vaseline was the sheen.. I think it grew our hair. Lol
Nothing is wrong with Vaseline, this is what our mother would put in our hair also Blue Magic or Dax and our hair was long and thick so I don't understand why natural hair girls are afraid of using something that has been around for decades
She has waves that's something she does often her hair is tamed and also grown a out a bit more so your hair is gonna respond differently but just keep brushing your hair everyday to get that pattern in your hair then try using these products again to see if it comes out a little bit more like hers but great vid ♥
You are me! trying to follow these tutorials hahaha We have a similar hair type. Fine 4a/4b coils and ringlets. Won't really hold a curl like a twistout or anything but it will slick down with just a dab of gel. I just big chopped my hair for the third time, going to let it grow long this time. Excited to follow you on your journey.
I did this with you. It was like magic!!! Thank you and Jaleh 🤗 I should have known this. I totally forgot. I'm 48ish totally forgot about the vaseline. Thanks for sharing. ♥️☺️
Thank you, I am at my one year anniversary of natural. I have never used Vaseline before but I will shampoo my hair on Monday and give you my feedback. I think the Vaseline will stop the eco styling gel from drying out so fast. I love your tutorial. You Rock. That style is so cute on you. Thank you for sharing. My hair was just like yours when I first started out. I can used 1/2 inch flat iron and show off the Pixie. lol
Put vaseline on your eyelashes at nite, wash it off in the morning and you can apply aloe to make your eyelashes stronger and longer. I use green tea and black oil to strengthen my eyelashes because they are easy to fall out, I always have long eyelashes but they tend to easily fall out from the holes.
I tried this. AND IT WORKS FOR MY HAIR!!! I'm so excited. Because my hair was dry and frizzy. It takes all that away. I love my short hair cut styles. I can get up and go. I even wore a hat( gurl....it was cold outside. Lol). Met peeps at a restaurant took my hat off....honey I received nothing but compliments. And my hair is soft. Not hard and brittle. No more frizzies. Thank you thank you.
I tried to do a laid wavy look, I forget which UA-camr it was from. But my hair was way too curly so instead of getting large waves, I got little tiny waves and my hair wouldn't stay down :( Yours turned out pretty good though lol !
OMG Vaseline is the boom I love it Back in the days wen I was at school all my family used Vaseline and we all have thick long health hair. But now as an adult I have bad hair so I have just gone back to using Vaseline mix with other oils. It’s cheap an good to use as a back up and holds hair well and soften your hair. Thumbs Up for Vaseline xx
Thank you for sharing your journey. I have salt and pepper hair. I cut my hair off a year ago because I could not dye it anymore. I had to become okay with accepting me. I have cut my hair short before so that was not an issue but 43 years young. I was not ready to face this life. I love my hair and its growth. Now I am growing it back all natural.
Hilarious on your reluctency of the vaseline. But yea, the hairs and cooperation with the products do play differently. I believe my texture is the same as yours, though I love the laid neat look. With that said, JOB WELL DONE!
Vaseline and blue magic is pretty much the same thing. I'm 36 years old and that's what we use when I was a kid. Also the Sideburn baby hairstyle that you were doing is what I like to call the Betty Boop baby hairs.
i loved your show about the Cantu products for natural hair and i actually use this product with the interlock moisturizer and repair conditioning as well as the leave in conditioner. I will now use the custard and will get back to you with the results. Thank you again.
Your being nervous, nieve and afraid was understandably funny when it came to Vaseline; but, you can use this as a very important learning tool for your own videos! Neither you or jaelah knew the purpose of it. She only used it because her dad told her to! I am in my 60's and me and my 8 sisters where raised on Ivory Soap to wash, Vaseline as a scalp conditioner and Royal Crown hair grease as a lock in moisturizer! But you ladies are young! I said all of that to say this; the same way you felt about what Jaelan was saying, is the same way we feel about following your videos! Explain everything you're doing and why! Also keep in mind; Vaseiline and a nightly scalp massage cost $1.99 and last 6-7 months. How much does your scalp massage oil cost for a 30 day supply? No shade! I respect the hustle and your willingness to give someone else a shoutout! That's what makes you special!
You're absolutely gorgeous and funny! I'm a white girl with waist long damaged hair with a bit of curl, and I'm binge-watching you today and learning so much. How are u???
I 💯👍🏾
I’m not a woman and I’m not black but I saw this on one of YT’s Top 10 lists and just watched the whole thing. It was mesmerizing. And your hair came out damn good.
Look at you learning something new!
Lol right!
Here’s a cookie 🍪
The one thing we forget is moisture BEFORE styling gel. It is essential so I'm glad you both emphasized that.
i don't know how or why this vid came up in my suggestions BUT!!!! As a British born male of Caribbean (Jamaican) heritage.......
Aw thanks so much!! xoxo
Hi DeAnn, How do you use the two oils together?
This vid was TOO hilariously delightful!! SOME (not all!) of my fave moments: your humorously nervous approach to using Vaseline in your hair (and you bravely taking the plunge anyway for the sake of science LOL!!); Jaelah’s “OK, so, Girl, lemme tell you ‘bout these baby hairs!”; and you saying “At this point my edges are as slayed as they’re gonna get, so let me move on...”. This was DEF fun to watch!! LOVE your energy & honesty. Keep up the wonderful work !!! 😍😍😍😘😘😘💐
Lol as a Jamaican, we use Vaseline as hair oil all the time so the fact that you guys don't is weird to me. Gorgeous nevertheless
Priscilla Martin exactly... That's the same thing I was saying.. We eat breathe and sleep Vaseline lool

She doesn't but we do lol & I'm in upstate New York .. Granny made us use it for our hair & face

Man that Vaseline and water was the holy grail for me back in the day
Vaseline really works. If you have thin hair it will definitely thicken it up
My ma got lupus and when I told her to go back to vaseline..shiiiddd her hair more healthier then mine now . Thick asf ❗👑
Vaseline was all I used on my hair coming up.. Vaseline and water that is.. made my curls pop.. lol

In thought anyone with a speck of hair knew about using Vaseline or Blue Magic ...that White Rose and Crown Royal on their hair. One of my grandmas used a hair promenade called Murray's. So it's been around for centuries in the black communities.
Same!!!!

Oil Sheen and Vaseline. Did she grow up in the early '80's? I'm surprised she didn't whip out the blue magic.
If you ever used the old fashioned hair grease you have used petroleum jelly.
We know it works. I use Vaseline on my face, it is the thing that works for my face
Been trying alot of tutorials for my short hair this morning but I think yours did the trick😆😊
OMG! My mom used to oil my scalp with Vaseline!
You and this Vaseline!! 😂😂 I'm cracking up!! but I would've been skeptical too... your hair is cute 😍
Omg I’m cracking up! When she said “just add some more gel” And you said “OH! Oh god, More gel?” 😂😂😂
I can’t get over how pretty you are!!! Ugh I’m so jealous! Your eyes are just gorgeous!
This cracked me up so bad in the beginning...thank you so much for that laugh but I'm very happy it turned out beautiful.
When I was a child we did not use a lot of products in our hair. Caribbean people use Vaseline in their hair from birth 😂😂😂😂
Chaniel B Legit in my Bahamian household Vaseline is used as a hair product, something for cuts/scratches and as "lotion".😂
🤣😂😂 I feel slighted because my moms side is Bajan and they didn’t teach me this trick! Haha
Chaniel B for real😂😂😂
Chaniel B yessss😂😭I’ve been using it forever

Vaseline...saving lives forever.
-best lip balm
-makes breasts firmer
-makes skin glow
-makes curls pop
-prtoects eyebrows before using a peel off mask
.......and many other uses ❤❤❤
I always mix Blue Magic with olive oil eco style gel bc the gel binds n defines my curls n the grease prevents it from getting flaky n crunchy
I would definitely love more hair tutorials like this.
I’m 5 yrs late but I’ve always used Vaseline in my hair and daughters with no issues, works great, they have hair like hers too.
My grandmother used to put Vaseline in my hair when she did my hair and my aunts hair. And are here used to grow like crazy. I think I'm about to buy me a bottle of Vaseline.

Love you too 💕💕
Nothing is wrong with Vaseline, this is what our mother would put in our hair also Blue Magic or Dax and our hair was long and thick so I don't understand why natural hair girls are afraid of using something that has been around for decades
how often do you use the aloe & rosemary spray?
Honestly whenever I’m not being lazy and walk to my kitchen to get it lol like 3-4 times a week.
Nia Hope ok thanks.

She has waves that's something she does often her hair is tamed and also grown a out a bit more so your hair is gonna respond differently but just keep brushing your hair everyday to get that pattern in your hair then try using these products again to see if it comes out a little bit more like hers but great vid ♥
You are me! trying to follow these tutorials hahaha
We have a similar hair type. Fine 4a/4b coils and ringlets. Won't really hold a curl like a twistout or anything but it will slick down with just a dab of gel. I just big chopped my hair for the third time, going to let it grow long this time. Excited to follow you on your journey.
Ok. Maybe you and I have the same type of hair. Mine doesn't hold curls either😊
My favorite extensions ever! ZALA ALWAYS have the perfect blonde! 💛 💛 💛

I did this with you. It was like magic!!! Thank you and Jaleh 🤗 I should have known this. I totally forgot. I'm 48ish totally forgot about the vaseline. Thanks for sharing. ♥️☺️
Vaseline was my go to to replace hair grease if I was out when I was in high school lol. It adds a lot of sheen but is really heavy

Getting Betty Boop vibes ❤
YAS! That's exactly what the edges reminded me of lol
KEKELOVESYOU Xo SAMEE like this is so pretty man
Adorbs and your personality is soo infectious!! I soo enjoyed and laughed!
As a St. Maarten/Haitian I still use vaseline in my hair. It works for my hair.
You are GORGEOUS!! Love the cut!
Thank you!! 💕💕
I tried this. AND IT WORKS FOR MY HAIR!!! I'm so excited. Because my hair was dry and frizzy. It takes all that away. I love my short hair cut styles. I can get up and go. U look AMAAAZZZIIINNNGGG WITH THIS HAIR STYLE BOO 😍😭
I tried to do a laid wavy look, I forget which UA-camr it was from. But my hair was way too curly so instead of getting large waves, I got little tiny waves and my hair wouldn't stay down :( Yours turned out pretty good though lol !
When say this is the cutest video...Gurl! So pretty! Loving this!
Vaseline is supposed to make your hair grow. I've been using it since I started transitioning.
OMG Vaseline is the boom I love it Back in the days wen I was at school all my family used Vaseline and we all have thick long health hair. Ahaha I'm pretty sure my mom still puts Vaseline in my brother's hair when she runs out of other stuff. His hair is long so it must have benefits
Your little curlies are so cute omggg😖😖😖😍😍😍they remind me of a babies little curls
I use to use Vaseline when I didn't have anymore blue magic hair grease 🤣 my hair is like yours ( I just cut it ) and I'm going to try this .
i loved your show about the Cantu products for natural hair and i actually use this product with the interlock moisturizer and repair conditioning as well as the leave in conditioner. I will now use the custard and will get back to you with the results. Thank you again.
