I do agree with you Andreu for the most part... Having three KTM's in the garage at the moment with "similar components" which have failed on me in the field... That is the only reason I with the conviction I did regarding some items. Others are more comfort related and will vary person to person. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! No offense taken! It's all in good fun and learning. The MotoZ tires are the business, that is for sure. frostbitevinnie the 790 Adv is much “smaller” than the AT. It is the perfect “in between” the 690 & AT. After putting 5 miles on it yesterday the AT is a better “Touring Machine” due to weight & set-up. I do see the 790 being a much more capable dirt bike - but not a 690! I’m TORN too... I own and ride an 950 Super Enduro & an 1190 Adv R. The 950 has essentially the same specs as the 790... the 1190 is like the AT, just FASTER! I want a 790 BAD, but it is really so close to what I’ve already got. Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!

@@manybikes Yes the AT is good for touring but I really dont care for much of that anymore. I have a gravel/dirt route of 600 miles from my place to sturgis that I have proven out half way. Looking for something lighter more capable in gravel for two up touring. I hoped the 790 would fit that bill. Maybe someday? I have heard of issues with the right foot peg on 790 cracking the engine case since that is the attachment point? If I slab tour again I will snatch up a nice FJR.

Chris Birch runs the stock skidplate,it has rubber bumpers inside that make it work well. The gas tank and guards are not a problem. Guys spend 1000's on parts for these bikes based on internet advice, Take that stock muffler off,its light. My plan is to not crash the thing all the time,or bury it in mud. Good analysis Kyle. The front brake cables are begging to be ripped off. I removed one disk and caliper, and rerouted like a dirt bike. Tires are horrible for anything more than a dirt road. Bought new smaller rims so I can run a more moto tire. Complete pipe and WP Pro suspension as the stock stuff is like a pillow. Open up the airbox and remap and the bike is ready to race. Maybe a couple of other little things.

There are already a number of things I would change as well to suit my height and weight. This is fine for bikes at the competitive end of the price range but not when you are paying a premium.

The “problems” are easy to fix, but also not that common. I thought my slave cylinder was going on my 1290SA, but strangely when I topped up the mineral oil and bled it, it never lost fluid again (not in the last 5000 miles). I bought a triple o-ring slave cylinder from Germany but never replaced the original. I’d much rather have a hydraulic clutch, minimal maintenance, no cable stretching, and a lot easier on hands that have done 35 years of gear shifting.

I think the bike is great Isaac... Just needs some TLC to get it the last mile.

Everyone has an opinion... Thanks for watching! This was a requested video from my fans. Those who do not have an opportunity to see the bike in person asked to walk around to see "what it needs" to really be off-road ready. Not just dirt roads either... Really ready to ride hard. - Kyle
