- The Phantom Pain solved many of the doubts and mysteries about the evolution of the saga and its characters. The saga is now complete with this "missing link". Thank you Kojima for the years of awesomeness! This trailer is dedicated to the truths and plot twists that the game revealed. Well maybe not all of them but what you can fit in about 2 min video. Needless to say major spoilers here.
Taking place nine years after the events of MGSV: Ground Zeroes and the fall of Mother Base, Snake a.k.a. Big Boss, awakes from a near decade-long coma. The game resumes the story in 1984, with the Cold War still as the backdrop, which continues to shape a global crisis. Snake’s journey takes him into a world where he is driven by a need for revenge and the pursuit of a shadow group, XOF.

+Solidus327 that was the only time the game showed it's emotions its even sadder that its not a cutscene.
+Tom Maxey (Solidcrock013) yea don't get me wrong you can tell the game is trying to show its emotion and there are times when it shines through i just wish we saw the scenes with Zero find the relationship between Him and Boss really tragic two friends who want to be friends but can't due to their opinions

+SigmaYX Same here. I think people just had an idea in their head what this story should be about and it totally wasn't about that. It was about Quiet and Huey, Kaz and Paz and about all the things Venom lost. And he loses pretty much everything by the end of the game. It was a pretty damn good story, it just wasn't a story of Big Boss. And it certainly wasn't a story of a villain. Then again, MGS2 wasn't a story of Philanthropy and MGS3 didn't show the origins of Outer Heaven, so nothing new here.
DNoolan This is the exactly same thing that happened with MGS2 (my favourite) and Raiden, people just expect to play with the badass typical character and then the surprise comes in. For me this "Phantom Snake" was great, and the fact that he was the one killed in MG1 fits perfectly.
MGSV delivers a message that not everyone catches. Just like MGS2.
Agree. I mean we all felt empty and a little left out when we found out we weren't Naked Snake. So but once I got the idea of why it happened and what the story was really about, I understood it and didn't hate the story. Besides of course the stupid cut content.
+SigmaYX Yeah, and honestly after this game you kind of start hating the real BB for abandoning his soldiers and passing all the responsibility to Venom. That's what really makes Venom the "Punished" one.

Story wasn't the most emotional or the best told one but definitely the most deep and complicated one.If you listen every tape in the game,you'll be amazed.The story is really really good but Kojima told it in a different,very different way than we expected.Gameplay is the best stealth or simply the best gameplay in a game so far I've ever seen.The strategies,good AI,amazing details makes the gameplay perfect.I only didn't liked repeating the old missions in Act 2 and the original end scene with Eli which is cut.But the game is simply a masterpiece and everyone should play it.The best game of 2015 so far imho.

Kefka, When you'll be doing the movie, please make sure to include all the scenes. Including optional stuff like soldiers fighting on the deck if their morale is low or DD jumping on Venom as soon as he arrives if he was away from Mother Base too long. Those small scenes really make the game come alive and every other movie so far didn't bother to include all of them.

They draw us a whole new facet of Major Zero that allows us to make the connection between the Zero of MGS3 and the one of MGS4. This character is so great now :D
I got more emotion out of this trailer than the actual game. Kudos, Kefka.

The end of the story is just awful. Not playing as big boss and not be able to have quiet as a buddy is just a complete disaster. I didn't play the game anymore for 4 days just bc of this.

I think MGS fans expected too much from the story and thus ended up dissapointed.The story is great if you take your time to see and understand what Kojima is really trying to say.The ending was amazing although I did wish the cut content was included in the final game.Surely,it wasn't the best story in the MGS series but it certainly wasn't bad or poorly told.I loved every bit of this game and I think it deserves to be a GOTY contender.

It wasn't bad at all but it was poorly told I'm afraid. There was no build up, no traditional mgs climax and no reason for the truth to be revealed when it was. You just replayed the hour long tutorial and received an extra cutscene at the end.
I liked the ending but it wasn't added smoothly imo

I disagree, having never played an MGS game before (playing the excellent snake eater now) the story is really awkward at times and out right dumb. Shouldn't I be losing heroism? Shouldn't I be a savage murderer? I'm a bad guy but oh no it's fake.
This is brilliant, you really captured the story of this game
The thing I think ruined people's opinions of the ending, was they were hoping for a grand display and conclusion to the series, but Kojima was wanting more to connect the game to Metal Gear and beyond. The real conclusion to the series is Metal Gear Sold 4. It's a situation like when finishing the Hobbit films, they needed to conclude the journey, but understand that it is not the conclusion of the story at the same time, and that is what was done here.
Yes Kingdom of the Flies would be great to have, but Kojima himself has said he believes it would throw off the story of the game, and thinks that Konami might release it as DLC. As I see it, the story is complete, and brings it right into Metal Gear.
The way I see it, Metal Gear Solid is not a game series with an overarching story, but a huge story and universe, with games to depict some of the events
this tralier was so epic so many good moments seriously well done on this, more people need to recognise your efforts!

I think the thing that people miss about this game and in which I understand why they are pissed about, is how at the end you are left with a huge ass phantom pain. We find out the truth of big boss, quiet leaves, you have to massacre your men, Huey leaving( deserved it tho but still it's one less person at base), Kaz cursing BB to hell, the left open ending with Eli.
Which makes the game experience what the characters have felt. Like they gained and lost everything

Most haven't even played to the final ending. They see skullface and quiet endings and base their opinion off that.
well the game did not end they took out the final mission and a good chunk of cut scenes and dialogue in the game including game mechanics they showed off in the trailers and game trailers but the game is awesome but the full horn and covered in blood was kinda retarded being covered in blood 24/7 and there's now way to get rid of it but i hope they put those missing thing's back in the game but i know konami is not going to do that because all they care about is the poker machines and money

Kojima included us in the game using the medic who we can customize the appearance and give name. He made us a part of this epic story that sadly, is finished. Kojima's way of ending this saga is so damn legendary. Im glad i get to play metal gear in this life.

Fantastic trailer Kefka. Loved it.
Metal Gear Solid is truly a leading franchise giving the message of what a world truly is and how visionaries have stood up against the whole system even if the odds were against them. I love how kojima has shown every moment in the game. For me MGS V has a perfect story representing two most powerful themes Race & Revenge. I wish konami just could have let kojima bring up chapter 3 as well into the game.

Lol Just found out the plot twist today and it got to me, then you come out with this amazing trailer. It is still an amazing game with a great story. My favorite scene definitely had to be Phantom Boss walking through the hallway with the dead Diamond Dog soldiers.

This trailer actually made me like the ending of the game.
Well made but the audio clips were too random like when Skull Face said I'm burning up. There's no reason to include that. But the part where Zero spoke was great

All this happened in the game, just spread out more. Perhaps that's why you feel this is "better"? Everyone complained about MGS4 and it's hour long cutscenes so he made it 90% gameplay and people still don't like it. I personally liked MGS4s pacing.
Yea they had a good thing going, I would've been fine with the ending being in there and no filler missions. But I still loved the game
