To the lady who said you don't understand the meaning of the Sombrero. Let me explain, mi tio (my uncle) explained this to me when I was young.
The sombrero is a hat. It provides shade when you are standing in the sun. Consider yourself educated.

While I was in Japan I met a guy that was wearing cowboy hat, flannel shirt, jeans and cowboy boots. Chatted with him, and he loved ‘America’. He loved oldies and country music, and liked cheeseburgers and southern food. Was a Japanese guy who in his mind loved the parts of America he was passionate about, and obsessed over it. Was I about to school him on how just one cultural aspect isn’t all of America? No, man. He was proud to show his love for what he thought America was. I guarantee if he wore his getup and paraded his love in the US there would be a bunch of people stopping him and saying “uH AcTuAlLy, ThAts JuST TeXAs, US iS moRe ThAn THat”
Cracks me up that people think NYC when you say New York, as if the rest of the state doesn’t exist. I drove through upstate rural New York once and holy cow I was not expecting the amount of redneck. It may surprise a lot of people, myself included, that most of the US is pretty “southern” once you leave the horrid cesspool cities
I met a Japanese taxi driver in Australia once who was wearing cowboy hat and playing country music Maybe I should have told him off ?? not
I think it goes to show when lefties are taking it a bit too far when GENUINE MEXICANS do not care
As a mexican conservative values of USA represent the mexico ideal and objetive of human which means that these ideals of mexico are perfectly represented by USA white culture so to have these Mexican culture USA citizens just have to follow its own ideals and then for me you are now 100% mexican as me if you want to be 100% mexican the half of mexico is white and the other half want to be white mexico isn´t a non white culture

Seriously! I'm Italian, but if someone who isn't said I should be upset because other people who aren't were "appropriating my culture" by eating pasta or singing opera in the shower, I'd think they were nuts! Contrary to what the liberals try to tell you, most people are actually happy to see their respective cultures celebrated and genuinely appreciated by others. Let's face it - in a world in which so many cultures exist, it's gonna happen, and that's not a "bad" thing.

Notice how the atmosphere changes like if you were in another country as soon as he enters the Mexican store alley, the colors, the warmth of the people, the vibes, the happiness, how kind the people are, amazing.
I’m japanese, and one of my friends loves Chicano/Chicana culture. (It’s an ethnic identity for Mexican Americans who have a non-Anglo self-image, embracing their Mexican Native ancestry, in case you don’t know)
She paints beautiful illustrations of chicanas, also she loves dressing up like a chicana and posting it on her instagram. Oneday, a girl from the US sent her a dm and insulted her drawing, also her being a fan of that culture by saying ‘it’s my culture! Not yours!!’
She was shocked and sad, she even stopped drawing for a while since then.
I was also sad, because all she does is based on her respect and love for the culture.
In japan we love other cultures too, my college had a huge community that was called “African culture studies”, they play African instruments after classes and seemed so fun.
Also I love Native American jewelry so much, there are many ppl around me who wears those Native American jewelry, because we love the craftsmanship.
We just love other cultures respectfully as much as we love our culture
That girl that sent that DM is not a true chicana. We want to spread our culture to as many people as we can. We love seeing people embrace our culture. I'm very sorry that your friend had to go through that. I really appreciate what your friend is doing and hope she is doing well!
As a member of a family of a bunch of real chicano cholos. I can safely say that the person who dm'ed your friend is more of a fake then your Japanese friend. Cause I've met dozens of Eastern Asian, islander, white, and even European/middle Eastern homegirls that dress the part because they're down for their shit. And I wish she told my homegirl Kim that. With her big old hoops and pencil eyebrows. That looks so damn good in Loks in a flannel... What was I saying? 🤣 Tell your friend to love what she loves. Sending her Chicana card in the mail. Don't trip we don't need addresses there's always a homie who knows a homie who knows their homegirl who lives right by her. LMAO.
I'm Spanish and read your comment. There are so many Japanese people fascinated by Spanish culture, food and flamenco dancing, and I ALWAYS LOVE and feel very proud that they want to learn, dress and know more about it. Don't stop it, we love it and we send you ❤❤❤

If I may add, there are different kind of ponchos or sarapes. The one on this video can be found in the native culture of Michoacan, around the town of Janitzio. Once the kids start acquiring certain responsibilities and learning some cultural habits, dances and jobs, they give them their own poncho, with a unique design. That one will be with them until it's worn out or doesn't fit anymore, which is hard because they are made very big and very sturdy. The concept of cultural appropriation is technically racist in of itself. It enforces the idea that people can't adopt or appreciate certain parts of cultures from different groups because of an inherent "ownership" of said cultures from those same groups that others cannot possess because of their inherent differences. It creates unnecessary racial tension and barriers between groups and only serves to drive people apart rather than bring together.
Wise words good sir/madam. Very well said!.

J.D. Hague wonder how many of those jackholes claim offense because of cultural appreciation, but have Asian or Indian iconography tattooed on their arms, chests, ass, or as tramp stamps?
I grew up with the notion that if you wore it for the reason of appreciating a cultue even if it was a costume event. That said, i do think learning about the meaning and history of the outfit would truly show an appreciation and understanding of the culture albiet a brief one. Humans also learn new things visually and a person seeing themselves as that outfit is expressing curiosity about that culture. There are those who wear to it to enforce stereotypes and mock the culture and that is why the term was coined, but it's a stifling overreaction that blocks the idea that the culture can only be appricited from a distance, and it blocks the community itself by not allowing people to wear it as he illustrated in segment.
I agree.....The problem is that I guarantee you he didnt mention that he was conservative trump supporter....and he didnt bother to tell them how really felt about Mexicans...so in that sense, it wasn't appreciation of culture whatsoever.

"" Oh, really?"
Error in logic, gurl?
I thought we judged people based on their character and not their looks. I guess not.

NPC ERROR 404
@Master Chief you will never get close to what MLK represents.
Thats not a point, just because the one that sold it was mexican doesnt mean he stands for all mexicans so its totally invalid. Dont get me wrong i spit on this whole cultural approriation nonsense, but i also dont like bad arguments being used.
Why are the actual minorities rarely offended?
because its a bunch of bs and no one cares
Because mexicans bag on each other anyway. If anything they enjoy the joking and shit talking.
Jaiden Garcia because their teachers didn’t teach them to be offended.
Because they dont care and they know that's not actually how they look like
Cause usually I think they have actual problems to worry about
As a Mexican I can confirm he looks badass
This is not cultural appropriation. This is moving forward to a global culture.
HOW DARE HE NOT HAVE A TEQUILA BOTTLE IN HIS HAND
and maybe a taco?
Greg Hinson or a kilo of cocaine
Nah man casadeas are the best
Dangit now I want a taco.
Offensive to borrachos worldwide
"You have to understand the meaning of the things you're wearing like the hat and the maracas."
Me, a Mexican born and raised in Mexico, who lives in Mexico: The hat means you want to wear a hat, the maracas mean want to hold maracas, the poncho means you want to wear a poncho.
Exactly 😂👍❤️ half mexican here
Dígalo fuerte Claudia
Exactly lmao, like the maracas have a history or something 😭
❤
@@bookstore9347 I dont know about the maracas but the hat has a reason and is pretty much because of the sun, because of Mexico localisation in the ecuatorian the sun stings harder, even on old pics with the usa and mexican armies side by side the Mwxicans wear a sombrero
GREAT experiment and video! 😍
Im actually offended that they feel that they have the right to feel offended for me
Will: “Is my outfit offensive?”
Non-Mexican People: “Yeah it’s cultural appropriation!!!”
Actual Mexicans: “Nah man it’s cool I love it”
Looks like gringo tourist outfit next morning of a day in Tijuana (͡๏̯͡๏)
@retro bts WTF YOUR CULTURE JAJAJJAJAJAJ Dude you are american, not mexican. You have reason, if you are not mexican you don't have a say in. Cállese la pinche boca y deje a los mexicano DE VERDAD opinar
@retro bts nah we should let other people want to wear our culture because it's so amazing
retro bts eres chicano no mexicsno callate perro callejero
Nadie quiere a los pinches chicanos, no sé pq siempre intentan hablar por nosotros
I'm Mexican and I absolutely love it !!! Isn't it ironic that the none Mexican people get so offended but the actual Mexican people do not get offended, they actually like it and encourage it. These people that get offended are liberal snowflakes!!! Yes 👍 I'm Mexican and support our President Donald Trump 🇺🇸
Amen!
Hola amigo. Cheers from Brazil.
Puerto Rican supporting Trump(mostly)
The ones who get offended are the real racists
@Søren I rather be judged by man than to be judged by my Savior Jesus Christ.
It’s actually a beautiful thing to see when someone from a different country embraces your culture or speaks your language and such….. it’s not offensive at all! 😊❤
The word ´slave´ was meant to refer to 'slavic' white people from central europe who have been enslaved for a thousand years.
Maybe using that word, as a black person, could be considered a cultural appropriation too?
0:45 _"Do you find my outfit offensive?"_
_"Yes", "Yah"_
_"Why?"_
**crickets**
Everyone here is offended and none of them know why, but they can't stop being offended, it's like an addiction.
NPC
Their social media circles inform them what to be offended by. To be as inclusive as they believe they are being, they should include these minorities into their social media circles so they can truly understand what to be offended by.
Its mind control by the communist professors.
That last "Mexican" spoke English without a trace of an accent and was dressed like any American student. I suspect he was born in the USA to Mexican parents and is repeating the typical second-generation immigrant experience. BTW, you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy Levy's Real Jewish Rye, or gefilte fish or matza.
desertkitsune - if you asked them if Stalin was bad they’d say yes, and if you asked them why there’d be *crickets* too. Kids just believe what they are taught and never care to understand anything deeper. It’s especially bad when the things they are taught are also completely wrong - like the existence and evils of cultural appropriation. Their quick response was the same as stating that pi is 3.14 - they believe it’s true with all their heart but don’t know much beyond that.
When she said “you don’t look Mexican,” how is that nor racist?? Judging him by his skin color??
Yeeess
I know, I HATE how americans thinks that you need to be brown skinned for being mexican or latino. Like wtf
My cousins are Mexican and look white af colored eyes brunette or blonde. Nothing like confusing Nationality (Mexican) with race
Yes, there are light skinned Mexicans.
Oraneg Samot it goes the other way around too. I’m European but I’m just a little more dark skinned than most. So when people find our where I’m from, they’re response is always, “oh, you’re not Mexican?” It is what it is. I don’t have the mental state of a snowflake so i don’t care and I’m not offended like these Americans in this video. It’s not even about them and they’re offended. Give me a break.
That lady saying that he doesn't know what the outfit means and where does it come from. Lady, the poncho is literally a portable blanket for the cold, and the hat is for the sun, that's it. No cosmic reason.
Sharing and appreciating other cultures is a concept that has been around for thousands of years. It's what makes us human. No group of people born into a certain ethnicity "owns" any specific part of a "culture". That's not how society works.
Americans: OFFENSIVE
Mexicanos: Que elegancia la de Francia
Hahaha Te mamaste
¡Jajajajajajaja!
Wey nmms xD
C mamo.
Oh gosh, I thought that this was a weird Polish saying but it turns out it has a Spanish equivalent? Languages, much wow :D
I’m Mexican. I feel kinda complimented when others acknowledge or participate in our culture. I mean... we are pretty awesome.
It's nice to know that Mexicans are pretty chill people
ya seeeee, creo que el hecho de que ellos son los que se ofenden los hace ver racistas, jajajaj.
@retro bts es un traje típico Mexicano, bro, como los kimonos con los Japoneses. no se están burlando de nada.
Thanks for tacos
@s 400 🙏
As somebody of Mexican descent I would say it depends on how your wearing it like if your wearing it and being racist and mocking Hispanic people then it’s racist and offensive but if your not then it’s perfectly fine because it’s showing cultural acceptance and showing that you like our culture to which is nice
a thing is only offensive if somebody maliciously has that intention. . . .
That's at the intersection of them being offended for nothing, and them trying to ruin humor as always, since stereotypes are funny.
NPCs couldn't meme already, didn't know the couldn't joke either...
Its not a stereotype here. That’s the funny thing. We eat tacos like everyday, wear sombreros and drink Tequila. The people who said that’s offensive are the really one who don’t understand the culture.
Being-offended-appropriation
We're Americans. EVERY culture is our culture.
It's not even a stereotype, it's just a historic outfit
