How's she goin'? Thanks Rick. That's a nice comment. I spent a lot of years making things without jigs. I always had trouble duplicating a work piece. Then I smartened up and started to make jigs. I used to make jigs all the time working in my dads welding shop. Sometimes we'd have to builds hundred or even thousands of the same thing. Quickly figuring out a simple effective jig always saved time and money. Nice job Mike. You'll be the finest box builder in Eastern Canada!
How's she goin'? Jigs sure do save time. What I like most about them is it allows you to repeat the same process many times. Trouble is, if the jig is not great, that means you'll have a bunch of whatever with the same mistake in them! LOL Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks Brian. It seems to work pretty good although I had to do some tweaking!! LOL Thanks for watching. I hope you all have a nice Christmas and take 'er easy!
How's she goin'? Thanks Dave!! It turned into a pretty complicated build but now that it's finished, I think it'll be nice to have. And it's easily adjustable for difference sized box joints too. Merry Christmas. Take 'er easy!!
The jig looks great and it was good to follow along. Making this is way beyond our skills and I am impressed with how well it turned out. I am looking forward to seeing the jig in use
How's she goin'? Thanks Joseph. I can't take all the credit for creating this jig. I copied some ideas I had seen on UA-cam vids. But over all the jig seems to be pretty decent. I'll put it to use in an upcoming video!! I hope you folks all have a great Christmas and take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks Del! You shouldn't have to wait long to see the jig in action. I need to make about 10 boxes and want them finished before Christmas! LOL Wish me luck! Take care!!

Great set up Mike. You’re smarter than the average bear. 👍🏻. Ya had me lost sort of. But I think I see what you’re trying to do. Once I see you make the box that will help. Just a thought. Around the 8:00 minute mark little finger on right hand seemed to be close to the blade. 🤔. Maybe just camera angle. But might want to check that. You don’t need that trouble. Have a great week, you and Janet. 🎄🎄👋👋
How's she goin'? Thanks for dropping by Noel. I'll have to check and see how close my finger came. I thought I was well clear but there I go thinking again. Thanks for your concern. Merry Christmas and stay dry!! Take care!!

That is a great looking jig. Nice to have the removeable front though should make a 1/2" jig while everything is fresh in your mind. Going to be fun to watch it work when you build your boxes. Thanks Mike. Stevo
How's she goin'? Thanks Stevo!! I think the best part of this jig is the flexibility it has. Or will have once I make a couple more 'front adjustable' fences. That's a good idea to make a 1/2" fence now before I forget how to use the jig! LOL Thanks for commenting. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks Lloyd! I have made other jigs in the past but none as complex as this one. I'm glad I made it though as I think I will use it a lot!! Thanks for the comments and for watching along! Merry Christmas and take 'er easy!
How's she goin'? Thanks Larry! The jig looks good eh. But will it be usable? We'll see soon enough. I need to make a bunch of boxes next week so I'll be putting the jig through it's paces!! Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!
That made more sense to me now even though i know i will never need to make one of those things...way to complicated for me. Your instructions were clear but kinda sorta too much work for me & a lot of work for you but i can see where it will be a handy thing for you to have & reuse. You did a good job ! I will be looking forward to when you make the boxes.Loveya
The jig was tricky to make. When I dreamed up the idea in bed one night, it was a lot simpler to make than in real life!! LOL The boxes are some strong though!! Love ya!!
How's she goin'? Thanks Bill. The jig was a heavy duty build for me. But I think it will work good. And the part I like best, I think it'll be pretty easy to change it to make different size box joints!! Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!

How's she goin'? Thanks Russell. And you're right about the jig needing to be perfected. There are some things about it that are not great, but I think I can 'fine tune' it to make it work. We'll see, as next week I'll start making the boxes. Wish me luck!! LOL Take 'er easy!

hummmmm I think I would have shortened the thread on those knobs, although I can see why you went down the other line of thought. It’s definitely a well thought out project Mike. Great job
How's she goin'? That's a good idea to shorten the threads Steve. But I had the long bolts and wing nuts and they worked so I went with that! Ummm - when the box joints are made, won't the top of the dado blade need to be level with the top of the alignment peg? I think you're going to have to deepen your main relief slot. Enjoyed the build. Thanks for sharing.
How's she goin'? Thanks for watching and commenting. This is a good comment. In fact the alignment key doesn't need to be as high as the fingers you're cutting are deep. The alignment key is only there to index the work piece. When I first made the alignment key I ended up cutting it down to be not as high in case I wanted to make finger joints on thinner pieces. Not necessarily thinner fingers, but on stock that wasn't as think, say 1/4" plywood. I hope you understand my explanation. I am posting a video tomorrow about using the box joint jig so maybe that will make it more clear. Thanks again for the comment. I like being asked about things like this. I never knew how to make a box joint jig but after watching this I'm a lot closer I looked on Amazon and see that the one you made is very close and probably better than a $200 one they have for sale. The key keeps the spacing, (I see that now) and after each hole is cut, you move the work piece over and run it through to make another square hole in the edge of the box, and so on until you reach the end of the box side. The jig stays mounted on the table and the work piece moves, right? Or am I confused (don't answer that). I'll watch closely when you make the boxes. Job well done!
