I shop Aldi every week, and have stocked up on their canned salmon, light tuna in water, sardines in water, corned beef, and chicken. I also have some cans of chili without beans for a fast meal, and that way, it will make more. I prefer clean ingredients, but there isn't always much choice. I live in a rural county, and don't have lots.of choices for shopping. One thing I discovered I love is kippers! I get them from $Tree and sometimes Kroger, if they have a sale or a coupon. My favorite meats are the ones I can myself, but I haven't been buying meat from the store because of price and because of questionable farming practices. We buy fresh, local meat and chickens that we trust, and it is expensive, but worth it. It's kind of a treat.

I have shopped Aldi since they set up shop in the Midwest in the ‘70’s. It’s amazing how they have evolved. I don’t like the integration of name brands into their inventory though. I love their canned Albacore and fish in pouches, their version of Spam.

Their sardines in water are good and I have plenty of them. I prefer the Sam's Club canned chicken to Aldi for quality and taste. The salmon is a favorite at $2.99 per can it wins on price and quality, I do own quite a bit of the corned beef along with the spam type canned meat. For a really cheap protein, I also have their Vienna Sausages.

We shop at Aldi, Walmart, and Sam's Club mostly. For me, my number one criterion is and always has been taste. I have never been a label-conscious guy. I am a fan of processed meats also, in particular SPAM. I remember the old processed city hams that came in fairly large cans. They do still offer a small can option, but as an adult, I don't like the taste as much as the way they processed it back in the 60s and 70s when I was a kid. But there are a lot more options of canned meats that they offer today, and you have just barely begun to scratch the surface of the beef and pork options. Enjoy the show.

I would like to see a comparison that includes turkey spam, spam (I know you don’t eat it, you can omit the taste test), corned beef, chicken, and salmon.
I used to live in a small fishing town in Alaska. I have worked as a commercial fisherman, and as a cannery worker. There is a huge difference in the quality of salmon, especially pink salmon, depending upon how late in the season it was caught. Salmon lose a lot of fat as the season progresses. Most of the fish canned near the end of the season was getting pretty nasty. If you were to pick one up in the center of its body, it would droop like you were holding a wet dishrag. A lot of those fish were actually falling apart before they were processed. Also, I would like to see you take into account different species of salmon, Red vrs Pink vrs Silver etc…. Thanks for another very informative video.

I like the Brookdale chili with beans and meat. I brown 1/2 pound 93/7 ground beef season it, drain then mix with chili. Then add a 1/2 pack of mama casas taco seasoning, a can of black beans, and a can of corn. You can serve it with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and shredded mexican or cheddar cheese on top. Add fritos scoops, or aldis bit size chips. Very filling! Omit any ingredients you dont like. To double your servings, just double everything listed. This usually lasts me 2-3 meals.

    Here in Australia..
We have Italian Style Tuna Chunks in Olive Oil ($1-29) It is a bit more expensive, but the small tins are worth it to mix with a cup of cooked macaroni, a teaspoon of Remano Basil Pesto and grated Romano Parmesan cheese over the top.
We have Ocean Rise Sardines in Soyabean Oil (89 cents), and they are okay at a pinch (gotta be really hungry) but I prefer to mash them up and mix with flour, ground tinned corn and garlic powder to make bait pellets for catching bream, bass and other fish.
I don't like the canned corned beef much, but I *do* like their dried Biltong, and I will occasionally rehydrade it or put it in soups and stews.
The shredded chicken breast is okay...it's edible (pass) but not a fan. I really like the Aldi stock cubes, though (Chefs Cupboard) and have recently been making rice congee (savoury porridge) from ground rice, chicken stock cubes, onion powder, shredded canned chicken from Aldi and shallots that I grow myself.
I guess you can make anything flavouful enough if you add a lot of herbs and spices to hide the taste...

With the understanding that daily dietary preferences aren't going to be the reason someone starves to death, it would be good to be able to keep with your program as long as possible after an event. In this context, it would be great to see a series of videos on food acquisition and storage from a carnivore perspective. Therefore, no plant based oils or non meat ingredients to as great an extent as possible.

My biggest complaint about Aldi is they have very few options for people with health concerns - how many millions of people have been told by doctors to cut down on sodium, for example? Hormel has a low sodium option from that Mary Kitchen subsidiary. Maybe they can contract with Aldi to make their store brand.
