Okay I know EXACTLY what's going on at 3:00 actually. He's not T-Posing. He's in the stance you see at the begining of every stage, where Sonic has his hand on Caliburn, and pulls him out of the ground before running into the level. In this frame, Caliburn has yet to spawn in, leaving Sonic in a pretty awkward looking position. It seems like Caliburn in this game functions as a different entity, rather than simply a part of Sonic's model.
That explains why Caliburn flickers at an alternating frequency to Sonic: the game treats the sword as a separate entity, even down to the Invulnerability Frames animation. Personally, I thought that most of Sonic's character model was performing an A-pose (which is basically just a more natural-looking default pose that some software uses instead of the T-pose), while his right arm is the only thing in its own unique position. If his default starting animation has him pulling a sword out of the ground, then everything makes sense.
I think you're right. But it's not surprising that Caliburn isn't part of Sonic's model because Gawain etc. can have different weapons (and I guess Sonic has a different swort at the beginning, too).
@@MasterAlpha1000 how is it poor taste, the game is ok. It's a very short arcade game where you slash shit for big combo numbers. It's easy, stressfree and entertaining
another cool detail is the alias ‘knave’ that is given to sonic; which means a knight who wanders a path of his own, not by any order or affiliation - which fits sonic’s characterisation perfectly in this title .
@@dhans9662 well, in the french caption/translation, he is called a "Valet" which made it more insulting. It is today however, that I learn what "knave" means.
I also thought it meant knight in training at first and then I heard it meant “idiot” and I panicked slightly because if that were true it meant I accidentally made Caliburn say, essentially, “Sorry I killed your parents dumbass” in one of my fanfics
8:04 - fun fact, that's not the only way to deal damage! If you swing your sword at the black energy ball things he scatters everywhere, you can reflect them back at him. Doing this enough will let you mount his horse similar to soul surging directly to him
@@Coolmar15 that's fair - it's not explained well at all. The closest thing is Caliburn telling you to "strike back at the attack" or something like that
There's some unused lines in the Sound Test where the Blacksmith is asking for confirmation to work on the weapons of the playable characters. Among them is "Sonic's gauntlet, right?", suggesting that the gauntlet Sonic wears in this game was originally meant to have upgradeable and/or customizable gameplay effects, rather than effectively being just for show.
The sheer improvement in this video over the last 2 "details in Sonic games" videos is immense. I'm so happy you included the Black Dawn OST that I've mentioned in your Black Knight video ! ALSO move Sonic Unleashed onto the Masterpiece tier since at the final cutscene Dark Gaia's arms burst out of his body and his green blood is oozing out, therefore blood in a Sonic game, therefore masterpiece. EDIT: Sonic in Unleashed X360/PS3 can also stand near realistic pelicans that show you the path to follow in Apotos Act 2, therefore Goated.
Sonic standing next to a giant realistic chicken is one of the most ridiculous images I've seen. Funnily enough even like Unleashed had a realistic pelican you could interact with.
Probably obvious to most people, but the Blacksmith music is an instrumental rendition of Tails' theme, "Believe in myself". It's just an extra love letter to the character that I really appreciate.
Except they denied this was the case after things got out of hand after this. If you want to talk genetics, the only thing we know about Silver is that he ABSOLUTELY isn't related to Shadow.
@@friskycalibri2293 I understand how you feel but don't act toxic about it if ppl like the theory that sliver is shadow's son don't ruin it for them it only a FAN theory who cares if it real or not i found it interesting that this game is one of the reasons the theory even exist don't spread toxicity be kind to others you just gonna made the sonic community look unhinged and I and I don't like saying that think before you type everyone has feelings and opinions we all can be respectable to each other.
Some more things people may not know. - Faraway avalon has its own level theme but many people don't hear it because you only hear it if you go out your way to do extra missions. - There's videos of fanart from a competition SEGA did. One of the winners used stolen fanart though and as this was before the age of online patches, it is left in the game.
The Wii was fully capable of accepting update patches for games, but it was a pain in the ass that Nintendo never really used much because (apparently, I never had to download it) you had to intentionally look for the patch and download it manually, where it would obtrusively sit as a "channel" on your home screen. If I recall, Skyward Sword had a patch available to fix a progression-stopping bug that only happened if you talked to a character in a certain area, then left instead of moving forward after the conversation, causing his dialogue to never update and preventing him from moving to other locations I needs to be in. I don't remember the specifics, just people joking about having to download an entire channel for a bugfix instead of it being automatically applied like on the PS3 and 360.
@@CoralCopperHead The thing is, doesn't that channel fix the savefile instead of the game? I'm fairly certain they actually never released a standard patch for anything.
@@lpfan4491Dragon Quest X was patched on Wii. (There was a very brief period where Wii, Wii U, and Switch would all crossplay with each other) The game came with a 16 GB USB drive that was formatted with a very similar filesystem to Wii U external storage. This is even ignoring fan tools like Riivolution and CIOS. The Wii CAN do it... it's just horribly inconvenient, both on a hardware and software side.
1:19 I just noticed that the moment you talked to the villagers you instantly refilled your soul gage, I'm not sure if you noticed that and/or it has something to do with Crest of the King.
2:33 - I like to imagine Sonic and Caliburn flicker at different times because Caliburn is more than just a sword! He is by all means his own character and person and not just a sword Sonic wields
You know what's funny? During the guessing colors part, I started listing off colors I could remember and then had the thought: "Are they colored after the 7 chaos emeralds?" Freaking nailed it!
They could've done something really cool with Japanese mythology of the dragon and the white tiger being complete opposites with Sonic and Shadow. I dunno, just throwing out ideas.
Black Knight is, to this day, one of my favorite Sonic games. I'm just happy to see someone giving it the chance it always deserved instead of lumping it in with the rest of the "bad" era games. As said, its a game that the developers themselves truly loved, and it shows.
I'm a little sad that almost no one cares about this game. It did take me a while until it clicked with me fully, but even on a surface level I think it's enjoyable.
Also! The main menu music is called The Ash Grove which is a traditional welsh song about a dead girl buried under an orchard of ash trees! Continuing the themes of death in this game pretty cool!!
@@artey6671 it's really fucken good, the combat is almost more DMC-like than it ever was and Super Sonic has his own actual moveset. things start to get a little rushed toward the end especially at the true final boss, but they're planning on rehashing that
Another interesting fact I finally noticed: when Sonic meets Lancelot, Gawain, the Blacksmith, and Lady of the Lake, he thinks they are his friends Shadow, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy respectfully. But when he meets Percival for the first time, he doesn’t state anything eluding to knowing she looks like Blaze, when they first met in Sonic Rush. I believe in 06 they do see each other again, briefly that is.
Really means nothing. Unlike Lancelot and Nimue, he already realizes right away that Gawain isn't Knux, he just comments on how they are very much alike. He meets Percival very last, at which point he likely already got used to the similarity. It's simply a form of narrative progression.
06 is non cannon for blaze’s character. Since rush came out first and adventure continued her character storyline. Sonic knows blaze, generation confirms this and silver doesn’t know her. Blaze has a very messy back story. I just assume sonic is polite in this since sonic used to never have feelings for Amy, thus seeing her as a friend while he knows blaze is a more shy person. Easy to embarrass.
For such a tiny, simple game, Black Knight really does have a ton of detail in it. I just wish its gameplay could have been fully realized, and the second half of the campaign had more content and reasons to use all the characters and mechanics.
3:40 as soon as you said there were 7 colors I was sure they would be the same colors as the Chaos Emeralds, my initial bet was going to be the chao stats if there were only 4. I love this attention to detail they give on some random stuff from time to time.
2:59 It’s not a T pose but his starting animation, this is easily seen in the early game where he pulls out the rusty sword out from the ground before blasting off. It’s the default “stage start” pose if you will.
Actually, if you count the true final boss of Frontiers on Hard Mode, it sort of subverts that final trend: every boss theme EXCEPT the final boss’s is a vocal track.
I screamed at the nunchuck for King Arthur. The best musical choice. You do so well with these videos I can really see your passion for these. Another awesome video:)
Also, I'm not surprised that the chickens seem so big compared to Sonic. He's only a little over three feet tall, so even small animals would seem huge next to him.
No one in my family cared about sonic, so my brother would never play the multiplayer of Black Knight with me. I was always curious about what the fuck it was like. ;-;)
@@CaptainCFalcon My brother and I used to play this game A LOT, but we only had one nunchuck at home. Yeah, we ere never able to try out multiplayer either because of that huge limitation
Honestly, I don't even play sonic games. I've played Sonic CD as a kid and some of Heroes, but I still love watching these videos. From a distance, all these games seem to have some unique or strange twist that makes it so fascinating to see how a challenge run or dive into the mechanics will turn out, and you do a great job of showing it all off. Thank you for making such rad videos!
I love all the little quarks and cool animations you find in these games. A lot of the things you present I probably wouldn’t even notice them. Thanks for another great video!
I pieced it together as you were talking about the fairies, but their colours match up with the Chaos Emeralds' colours. That's another nice hidden detail. Also sick outro dawg
This game and secret rings still hold a special place in my heart as my first and still some of my favorite games jn the series, secret rings was actually fun for me and doing combos in black knight was always a load of fun for me, doing missions over and over to try and rack up a huge combo was one of my favorite things to do
Technically, this is counted as "Mainline" As in Generations Sonic mentioned "Saving Genies" AND "Being part of the Story of King Arthur" So, it's as Canon as anything else Like how 06 Is still "Canon" and not Canon at the same time. 06 did HAPPEN but memory was wiped of the events. Sonic himself took on the Storybook trips so HE strictly knows about those adventures. The game that's not exactly Canon is Dark Brotherhood
Here are some things I’ve noticed from the game that leads me to part of the reason why I love this game so much: 1. The entire twist of the game is revealed through the lyrics of Knight of the Wind. Obviously, it is safe to say the song is taking place from Sonic’s perspective, being that Crush 40, a common musical writer for the series, is performing the song, and the song uses 1st person language, saying “I’m the Knight of the Wind”, which Sonic assumes that role. What is neat is how you can interpret the lyrics “…by the table I command. My kingdom.” Phonetically, the song sounds like these two ideas are separate sentences, but if you interpret the lyrics as more “…by the table, I command my kingdom”, then clearly it is saying Sonic is a ruler of the kingdom, which is finally revealed at the end that he is the one true King Arthur. 2. (TW: Suicide) I honestly have reason to believe this whole game is an allegory for overcoming depression/suicidality. It is sprinkled everywhere throughout the game. Besides the obvious of Gawain attempting after being defeated, the lyrics of Knight of the Wind, With Me, and Live Life all suggest that suicide is not out of the question. Live Life makes this connection most clear. Pretty much the entire song is a plea to keep living and to enjoy the beauty in the temporary. This game also has the most direct link to Christianity out of any Sonic game, taking into account that Gawain says “say your prayers” before battling Sonic, Fight the Knight has the lyrics “so the truth won’t set you free” (an obvious reference to the biblical quote “the truth will set you free”), and the entire soundtrack being titled Face to Faith. Now looking back at Knight of the Wind with the lyrics “On the ground, to the sky, faced with you and I. In a flash, I’m gone, holding your crown high”, it is reasonable to guess that ground and sky meaning heaven and earth, life and death. But when proceeded with “in a flash, I’m gone”, there is the haunting chance that it was self-imposed, considering Merlin’s wanted immortality. The only way to immortality, realistically, is everlasting life, death, based on Christian principles. I have more thoughts with “With Me” but I’ll probably end it here. This is all just an observation.
3:01-- not a T pose. That's the name of the pose you bind the character's skinning to, and build the skeleton/rig along it. What is actually there is a keyframe of animation that's "left over", and unintentionally still in the game. When you export animations, you setup frame-ranges, and sometimes people export frame 0 (It should be a T pose, but is more often an idle pose with things "off"). Sonic games are known for their rushes to launch, so it's not a surprise.
If you think about it, it kind of makes sense for the seven world rings to be in the black knight verse. Aren’t they just the hearts that make up the stories. Meaning there should be a set of world rings for each book.
With Me is a darker version of Knight of the Wind. Both lyrically and musically. The song structure is the same, the rhythm guitars are very similiar, and they're the themes of Sonic and Merlina respectively. There's also the Crush 40 version of With Me which is even darker than With Me itself, hinting at the fact that every hero has a so-called dark side
The reason silver is sir Galahad is due to him being a pure hearted (reason why he was manipulated by mephelis) character which is the core trait of Galahad, but also because Galahad is strongly associated with Percival, with the pair being 2 of the few knights able to go on the quest for the holy grail. Sir Percival is obviously Blaze who is Silver’s primary companion in 06. I think it’s cute how his role is genuinely quite well thought out for being such an insignificant part of the game, only in the multiplayer
He mentioned the vocal music during final bosses... it made me happy! I'm sad that he was right about how much it was missing from newer entries... Sonic Unleashed during Perfect Dark Gaia played a instrumental version of Endless Possibility though!
I have to say, it's really interesting seeing the stuff found when people go poking around games, be that how things or organized in the system, hidden little things, or stuff left on the cutting room floor, thanks for sharing this stuff. I did not expect there to be a morality system in this game, who thinks of this stuff. Also, nice challenge runs.
Cool trick i found: While using soul surge on the ground, strike exactly as the enemy jumps into the air. Sonics speed will launch him into the air before diving down and slaying the foe in one of the coolest attacks in the game.
2:40 It's probably an error, but maybe there flickering at different times since technically there two living things (For Context Caliburn, Sonic's Sword is sentient and can talk) and at 2:55 That's the first part of Sonic's animation when you start a level (The one where he pulls Caliburn out of the ground to reference the Sword and the Stone) except Caliburn doesn't load at the same time as Sonic for some reason
2:54 Judging by how the position looks, it might be an unused pose where Sonic had the sword planted to the ground, probably for his own intro of Knight vs Knight.
How you didn't knew there was a morality system? Sonic literally says "guess i can't be the hero everytime" But for real, they probably should've explain the mechanic better
Nothing about that line implies there's a morality system in the game, it sounds like a pretty generic line for a heroic character to say after they mess up.
@@CoralCopperHead Agree. I just liked having good titles on my card. Had no idea the morality stuff would affect score. I thought it just meant players online could see if I was someone who skipped enemies and all lmao.
2:56 nah that’s his pose when he enters a stage, it’s supposed to have Caliburn stabbed into the ground before he flips him and starts running, dunno why Caliburn is unloaded here though lol
This video is awesome! I knew some but learned some new details I never noticed! Some more things I can add for you! 1. The golden slime can be found by repeating segments of the stage where poisonous slime falls from the ceiling to the floor until a rare gold one falls instead! 2. Lancelot returns can be defeated in 10 seconds with ease: Lunge -> Arial -> middair spin attack to the floor -> Arial Then quickly retreat from a imminent chaos blast by jumping backwards a bit -> repeat combo to kill 3. King Arthur can be defeated in one round Once you clash swords middair and reveal his weak spot, much like Dark Queen you can actually time perfect hits here too to kill him in one round Hope these are all interesting thank you for the awesome video! About time Black Knight got some love!
How did I just notice this? There are 7 colours the fairies come in, there are seven Chaos Emeralds. Yellow, red, light blue, blue, green, purple, and white are the colors of the fairies, and the colours of the Chaos Emeralds! 🤯
Hey man just so you know, I was really never into Sonic but then I watched one of your challange runs and now its all I watch and play. Thanks for that
Thankyou, for giving this game the respect it deserves. It's hated too much by the majority of the Sonic fanbase for not being like previous series' of Sonic games, especially the "Classic Sonic Purists" who tend to badmouth anything in the franchise that's not 16-bit Classic Sonic style 2D Sonic games. They're basically the "Genwunners" of the Sonic fanbase. I will quote Amy from Sonic Adventure 2: "give them a chance!" This game, Sonic and the Black Knight, as well as Secret Rings, are heavily underrated Sonic games that does allot right what Disney did wrong for their adaptations of the source material storybooks. You deserve me Subscribing to you. Even though you don't post videos often as some others do, you have my respect for giving Black Knight the respect it deserves
The kick is required for some side missions. Very strange how obscure it is. Gallahad in arthurian legend is the illegitimate son of Lancelot. Wonder if that has any implications...
Amazing outro, truly one of the finest works of art in the cinema industry ever created. Fo real though, this video was very informative and made me interested in a Sonic game I haven‘t heard about often. To be honest, I didn’t expect a game where the premise is „Sonic, but he has a sword“ to have this much attention to detail and an above-average level of research about mythology.
Fun fact, Arthurian legend has two separate ties to SnapCube. The first being Lancelot indirectly causing war by sleeping with the wife of someone in a position of power (Arthur), and Shadow doing the same thing in the SA2 dub but with Eggman's wife, and the second being Nimue is the adoptive mother of Lancelot, similar to Amy jokingly calling Shadow her son, also in the SA2 dub.
One extra thing about Final form Merlina fight: if you time your Perfect Soul Surge strikes and fill up the gauge twice, you can actually defeat her in the first damage phase. I think I’ve done that only twice but that was many years ago.
Hearing anything about Black Knight always makes me happy! As someone who owns it and has love the story, music and overall feel of the game for so long it's always nice to hear it get complimented and not scorned.
Black Knight is one of my favorite sonic games, mostly because it was the first official sonic game i played and it was the only one i had for the wii. Besides Smash bros brawl, Black knight is my most played game on the wii, and even after playing it for so many years as a kid there is so much i never discovered or saw before. Thanks a lot for this cool details the game has, it truly was made with love for the series despite what the general opinion about the game is.
One of my favorite details in Sonic and the Black Knight is Galahad's sword. What's so special about it? Galahad's sword strongly resembles a cinquedea, which is a type of long dagger/short sword used by Italian civilians. Silver's name was originally Venice, because Soleanna, which was the main location in his debut game, was based on Venice, Italy. So Sega really decided to hammer home Silver's Italy-themed origins with Galahad's sword, and I absolutely love it. Similarly, Lamorak's swords are based on Jet's bashosens (his war fans that are made of his feathers).
In the same mission and spot where gawain can fly out of bounds, using sonic I found out you can jump back at a specific point just as the ray of light is disappearing and you will stand on solid ground mid-air. You can backtrack to the beginning of the ray that's not there anymore and if you keep walking forwards you will jump down from the air just as you would otherwise.
The colors of the fairies aligns to the colors of the chaos emeralds. I haven't played the game so maybe this is obvious to everyone and didnt bear saying in the video, but i was surprised it wasnt pointed out.
I like how the last piece of trivia lists the names, each name being a continuation of the ideas of the last, like a sentence (Like, "with me" -> "I'm here" )
This game was my CHILDHOOD and I loved it so much. It had a HUGE impact on me and my future when it comes to the way I approach making music. I will forever appreciate it.
Heyo! It's TECNICALLY Scare-dy Fluff, but I DID make a typo when writing it down so, have fun saying it how you want either way lol But seriously tho! I LOVED the video! AND I DIDNT EXPECT YOU TO ACTUALLY CREDIT ME AAA I really like the details in the game haha, and about the morality system thingie! I'm planning on making a guide for getting all the evil titles as well as the good ones for 100% completion. and lemme tell you, they are so obscure to actually get- I DID get all the evil ones for now, but consistency is what i need to make the guides accurate. (Coward has been a slippery title lemme tell ya.) so anyways! Love your content! You singlehandedly made me want to try out Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Boom haha.
I never played Sonic and the Black Knight, so if it weren't for UA-camrs like you or ClementJ64, (who did a really good, in-depth Let's Play on the game,) I would never realize the morality system was even a thing since I don't see many people talk about it when they're talking about the game. Great video by the way, it was nice to also know about extra stuff like the extra dialogue between Sonic and Arthur.
Black Knight was a great game that had an unfortunate release Thanks to the travesties of Sonic 06 and Secret Rings, Black Knight (along with Unleashed) was scoffed at when it were released. And it’s truly sad that it did, because this game is great and it still hasn’t gotten the resurgence in love that Unleashed got.
I think Black Knight is getting more love than Unleashed, I've never heard good things about it for years until recently, especially the story, Unleashed was always praised for the day stages and gorgeous graphics, but the werehog was and still is the main thing that divide the players

*S T E A L T H Y S H O V E L*
To be fair, it seems to move better than Secret Rings (IE: No motion controls for movement)
That makes perfect sense. I feel silly for not seeing that lol
Makes sense, considering he uses a different sword at the beginning of the game so they made the sword models separate.
I’ve loved Black Knight for most of my life, I’m one of its biggest defenders, and yet I still learnt a ton from all this
Same I love this game and I feel like it's underrated this game is so much better than Secret Rings you know Black Knight it's just so much better
You sure have a poor taste lmao
And I'm one of the biggest detractors. Well, at least story/music-wise, I never experienced the gameplay so I don't judge it.
he just like me fr
@@MasterAlpha1000 how is it poor taste, the game is ok. It's a very short arcade game where you slash shit for big combo numbers. It's easy, stressfree and entertaining
The fairies also coincidentally correspond to the colors of the 7 emeralds
Don't forget about the 7 rings in the game either
I thought that was what they were getting at.
Damn, I never though about that.
I feel like that's not a coincidence.
I was surprised that wasn't mentioned
Another thing is that the electric "wires" in Dragon's Lair are actually dragons themselves. The characters call them thunder dragons.
another cool detail is the alias ‘knave’ that is given to sonic; which means a knight who wanders a path of his own, not by any order or affiliation - which fits sonic’s characterisation perfectly in this title .
Which is funny cause he gets offended at the title lol
@@dhans9662 well, in the french caption/translation, he is called a "Valet" which made it more insulting. It is today however, that I learn what "knave" means.
I thought it meant a knight in training
So it’s the knight equivalent to a ronin basically? Correct me if I’m wrong
Doing this enough will let you mount his horse similar to soul surging directly to him
I always thought that was the only and intended way to do it x)
@@Coolmar15 that's fair - it's not explained well at all. The closest thing is Caliburn telling you to "strike back at the attack" or something like that
I thought that was the actual way to defeat him tho 💀
I thought that was the actual way to defeat him tho 💀
You can also use speedbreak.
My honest apologies. I will be sure to have that done right away
theres also 2 realistic cats in apotos! (specifically the area you talk to npcs!)
@@WhispersEcho12081 Yes!! A very cute lazy cat pair rests happily near the Gaia Gate at the end of the village :)
Sonic standing next to a giant realistic chicken is one of the most ridiculous images I've seen. Funnily enough even like Unleashed had a realistic pelican you could interact with.
sonic is perfect if he's interacting with hyperrealistic animals. it's who he's meant to be
And of course 06 gives us Hatsun the Pidgeon
Probably obvious to most people, but the Blacksmith music is an instrumental rendition of Tails' theme, "Believe in myself". It's just an extra love letter to the character that I really appreciate.
I am surprise he didn't mention that Sir Galahad is Sir Lancelot's son meaning sega intently made Silver the son of Shadow

(There was a very brief period where Wii, Wii U, and Switch would all crossplay with each other)
The game came with a 16 GB USB drive that was formatted with a very similar filesystem to Wii U external storage. This is even ignoring fan tools like Riivolution and CIOS. The Wii CAN do it... it's just horribly inconvenient, both on a hardware and software side.
One of those pieces of fanart was by Evan Stanley, and she's now an artist for the official IDW comics!
I loved the storybook series. I wished they could have expanded on this more with other mythologies like Norse, Greek, Japan, etc.
They were going to do a grek mythology game they even did a poll but black knight didn't sell well
Bro a norse sonic game would be amazing
They could've done something really cool with Japanese mythology of the dragon and the white tiger being complete opposites with Sonic and Shadow. I dunno, just throwing out ideas.
6:46 Same energy as Radical Sodas "There's a pelican. You can stand on the pelican." And I love it.
Very based reference
Where is this from?
@@charlesinatortheponyfeatur224 RadicalSodas Sonic Unleashed review. Bout a minute and 15 seconds in.
Love anything that references my small country. Cymru am byth
We need the storybook games back. I think we'd grow as a society.
Definitely
I would prefer if Sonic Team started to make good games again before they dare to return to those games.
@@artey6671 Frontiers
@@uncroppedsoop I've heard it's alright, but I'm not interested in it.
@zerotodona1495 06 isn't Canon at all, it literally retconned itself lmao
@samuelrodrigues9071 it is canon, the characters just think of it more of a distant dream.
The Chao have 5 stats, though, but it's an interesting idea, I think.

It’s not a T pose but his starting animation, this is easily seen in the early game where he pulls out the rusty sword out from the ground before blasting off.
It’s the default “stage start” pose if you will.
Actually, if you count the true final boss of Frontiers on Hard Mode, it sort of subverts that final trend: every boss theme EXCEPT the final boss’s is a vocal track.
True
Well final horizon fixed that
I screamed at the nunchuck for King Arthur. The best musical choice. You do so well with these videos I can really see your passion for these. Another awesome video:)
Also, I'm not surprised that the chickens seem so big compared to Sonic. He's only a little over three feet tall, so even small animals would seem huge next to him.
Giant frogs, orca, that also comes as an example.
Anything involving the party modes in this or Secret Rings counts as obscure trivia that nobody knows.
My relatives actually would play party mode and surprisingly it's really good
Fun fact Galahad/silver is Lancelot/shadows child’s giving even more proof to the silver is related to shadow theory
Of course. It’s my pleasure :)
This game and secret rings still hold a special place in my heart as my first and still some of my favorite games jn the series, secret rings was actually fun for me and doing combos in black knight was always a load of fun for me, doing missions over and over to try and rack up a huge combo was one of my favorite things to do
Technically, this is counted as "Mainline"
As in Generations Sonic mentioned "Saving Genies" AND "Being part of the Story of King Arthur"
So, it's as Canon as anything else
Like how 06 Is still "Canon" and not Canon at the same time.
06 did HAPPEN but memory was wiped of the events.
Sonic himself took on the Storybook trips so HE strictly knows about those adventures.
The game that's not exactly Canon is Dark Brotherhood
Here are some things I’ve noticed from the game that leads me to part of the reason why I love this game so much:
4:00 what no mention of how all the fairies in the game are the same colors as the 7 chaos emeralds
If you think about it, it kind of makes sense for the seven world rings to be in the black knight verse. Aren’t they just the hearts that make up the stories. Meaning there should be a set of world rings for each book.
3:40 So... are we not going to talk about the faerie colors being the same as the 7 chaos emeralds or...?
Sonic Colors played an instrumental/orchestral rendition of Reach For The Stars, and '06 used a similar style of His World.
8:26 yeah! I always loved this, but latter on I'm wondering whos decision it was to leave story behind failing something, over...and over again.
4:22 so the fairies are the colors of the chaos emeralds.
"This is a joke tier list"
No need to apologize for having incredible taste
2:54 Judging by how the position looks, it might be an unused pose where Sonic had the sword planted to the ground, probably for his own intro of Knight vs Knight.
There are some official renders and images of Sonic with the sword planted on the ground, so you're probably right
My first 3d Sonic game. Thank you so much for the nostalgia!
How you didn't knew there was a morality system? Sonic literally says "guess i can't be the hero everytime"
But for real, they probably should've explain the mechanic better
I mean, not like the mechanic even really matters.
6:20 I just love the image of some completely normal swans next to the absolute freak of nature that is Sonic the Hedgehog.
2:56 nah that’s his pose when he enters a stage, it’s supposed to have Caliburn stabbed into the ground before he flips him and starts running, dunno why Caliburn is unloaded here though lol
Hey, thanks for the shout-out! Love the video by the way :)
The first time sonic traveled to a alternative universe before Sonic prime I think looks like it
I can tell a lot of time, love, and effort was put into your outro! Truly a masterpiece
3:45 The 7 fairy colours are also the 7 colours of the chaos emeralds.
This video is awesome! I knew some but learned some new details I never noticed!
Some more things I can add for you!
1. The golden slime can be found by repeating segments of the stage where poisonous slime falls from the ceiling to the floor until a rare gold one falls instead!
2. Lancelot returns can be defeated in 10 seconds with ease:
Lunge -> Arial -> middair spin attack to the floor -> Arial
Then quickly retreat from a imminent chaos blast by jumping backwards a bit -> repeat combo to kill
3. King Arthur can be defeated in one round
Once you clash swords middair and reveal his weak spot, much like Dark Queen you can actually time perfect hits here too to kill him in one round
Hope these are all interesting thank you for the awesome video! About time Black Knight got some love!
How did I just notice this? There are 7 colours the fairies come in, there are seven Chaos Emeralds. Yellow, red, light blue, blue, green, purple, and white are the colors of the fairies, and the colours of the Chaos Emeralds! 🤯
based piranha plant?? every video so far has been an absolute banger and I pray the almighty algorithm will reward the consistent effort you put in
Hey man just so you know, I was really never into Sonic but then I watched one of your challange runs and now its all I watch and play.
I love it when people find things I missed when I was younger in games that I've played.
Also 11/10 outro ;)
6:06 I about had a cow when I saw this tier list lol
Has to have to disclaimer for his protection, what a brave soldier
In the same mission and spot where gawain can fly out of bounds, using sonic I found out you can jump back at a specific point just as the ray of light is disappearing and you will stand on solid ground mid-air. You can backtrack to the beginning of the ray that's not there anymore and if you keep walking forwards you will jump down from the air just as you would otherwise.
Dude my childhood, loved the video very entertaining
The colors of the fairies aligns to the colors of the chaos emeralds.
I haven't played the game so maybe this is obvious to everyone and didnt bear saying in the video, but i was surprised it wasnt pointed out.
That Sonic Adventure pose comparison you made is the most colossal reach I have ever seen anyone reach so hard for lmao
Heyo! It's TECNICALLY Scare-dy Fluff, but I DID make a typo when writing it down so, have fun saying it how you want either way lol
But seriously tho! I LOVED the video! AND I DIDNT EXPECT YOU TO ACTUALLY CREDIT ME AAA
I really like the details in the game haha, and about the morality system thingie!
6:05 I love this, that was hilarious!!! 😂
Nice outro. Loved the video.
Black Knight was a great game that had an unfortunate release
Thanks to the travesties of Sonic 06 and Secret Rings, Black Knight (along with Unleashed) was scoffed at when it were released. And it’s truly sad that it did, because this game is great and it still hasn’t gotten the resurgence in love that Unleashed got.
Rising break
I think Black Knight is getting more love than Unleashed, I've never heard good things about it for years until recently, especially the story, Unleashed was always praised for the day stages and gorgeous graphics, but the werehog was and still is the main thing that divide the players
