00:29 🧹 Starting a cleaning business offers flexibility in terms of scale, from a small side hustle to a larger operation.
01:54 🏢 Cleaning businesses have a consistent demand, both in residential and commercial sectors, ensuring a steady flow of potential clients.
03:47 💰 Cleaning businesses have low startup costs, often requiring minimal equipment and no initial investment in a website.
09:21 📈 Scalability is key to the success of a cleaning business; focusing solely on low-paying residential clients without considering expansion limits growth potential.
11:08 💼 Hiring additional cleaners and adjusting pricing structures can significantly increase profitability and create a more passive income stream.
13:03 🎯 With strategic planning and minimal effort, scaling a cleaning business to a more passive income model is achievable.

Cleaning business is one of the hardest business to scale, easy to get customers but hard to scale, you have to invest on a lot of training

Hi Sarah. Please will you do another video on cleaning for the getting into it, sole trader types. Prices, clients, ideas and information in regards to where you get your equipment and cleaning chemicals/materials from? I'm looking to start soon and would love more info from someone experienced (as I know how to clean well, but zero about anything else!) Thanks :D

I have thought about this in the past but talked myself out of it. I figured the staff would be high turnover- work for you for a few weeks or months and then go it alone or poach clients for themselves. So you would always be chasing your tail.

you need to charge 40 are 50 an hour and pay 10 to 12 pound to your workers make it look vip like only a logo and uniforms will make all the difference. for houses id go 25 an hour depending if you want carpets and sofas deep cleaned ther add ons it costs about 80 pound for a 3 seater and 80 for a 15ft by 15ft bed room dont always charge by hour charge by job i started 150 a day now i charge 40 to 100 an hour and i know men charging far more dont undersell yourself we in the service industry provide a luxury and it is so charge suitably from what i know you need a bottom line of 40 to 50 an hour that leaves you can pay a man 12 and just do that over and over in whatever

Only problem with that is the person you employ builds a rapport with the customer and then can undercut you massively with that customer by working direct for them. This can be somewhat mitigated if you had a team of cleaners and regularly rotate, but still a risk.

Im in America i believe in paying my employees more than minimum wage the minimum wage in California now for cleaners is $18 but I'll be paying my employees $28-$30 an hour with a 32 hour or less work week. You wont have your employees quiting and looking for other jobs or stealing from clients because they make good money. Im not paying them a 40 hours work week only 32 or less

Hi Sarah, thank you for sharing your experience. I am in the process of starting my cleaning business as a sole trader. Now I am thinking, how would I pay cleaners if I need extra hands? Since most customers are paying in cash, my concern is if the client pays the cleaner directly, then she takes it and leaves? Would that mean no profit for me?

One thing you must do if you take this seriously as a business is insurance.

    • @SelfEmployedStudentMum
      @SelfEmployedStudentMum  Рік тому +2

Yes of course just like with any business there is insurance and tax and declaring your income etc but as everyone's circumstances and businesses are different I'm in no position to give advice out about those types of things. This is just an intro to give people an idea about what is possible and what I've done myself

I've distributed like 100 flyers so far, not even one response. It's so frustrating. I think something must be wrong with my flyers. I have experience in cleaning, I used to do it, now when I wanna go back to it no method seems to work I'm in the USA.

    • @gunsheroff3387

Hello Marta, 100 flyers ain't that much, try to go for a much higher volume like 5000-6000 to start with and then see how it goes

It's not really passive as a number of things could go wrong. The cleaner may not turn up.
The Cleaner may not do a good job.
The cleaner may do a great job but the client may be awkward.
The Cleaner may have an accident and you could be liable.
