Today was my first clean. The lady was very happy with my work even though I was done 15 mn before my anticipate time. She already referred me to a friend which I'm cleaning the house tomorrow. Now I see why you said it's good to work in your own neighborhood cause when the lady finds out that her daughter goes to the same school as mine she became so much more comfortable with me. Overall it's was a good first experience. Thank you so much for your advice. I keep on watching your videos, there is so much to learn.
Hey Queen congratulations on your own business. I have a few questions for you. I'm trying to start my own cleaning business as well. can you please give me a call 8326705876 .Ms. Tolbert
I am so happy you had a great first clean. I wish you the best of luck with you new business. Keep me posted on how things are going. I’m routing for you! 🤗 ❤️
Angela, I have been cleaning professionally for nearly 25 years but never had the courage and confidence to go out on my own. Thanks to you, I have started my business. Because of your guidance and advice, I am able to present myself as professional and confident, and I bid what I am worth, rather than bidding low in an attempt to get the jobs. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
Angela I must say Thank you so very much! I’m not sure if this was the right video to respond on. But I applied one of your many tips on biding and how to ask questions instead of just giving a quote. And it worked it really does lead to more conversations. And the inquiring customers does feel more comfortable with you because they feel like you care. And I got the job by following your steps! It’s so simple and easy! Thank you again!
Thank you so much Angela! I been cleaning houses for the last 3 years. Now I have a full schedule but when I start I only had one house. I charge 25 dls hr or even 30dls depending of the size of the house some people think is a bit expensive but when they see my work they say it worth.I always do my best in my job.I really like watch your chanel you have a very good advices. Thank’s again!
Thanks Angela , I started cleaning houses thanks to you, I found your channel when i was desperate and you gave me the confidence that I could do it even with my bad English 😅and after a year and a half I have my first employee and I making 4 thousand dollars a month working less than 5 hours a day and I’m going for more 😘 thank you 🙏
So much valuable information. I used to leave after a bid and call back later to give estimate because I was afraid of the rejection. I do estimates on site now and I will begin to ask "I would like to be your cleaner, when can I start" that way I will know what I am up against before I even leave the home. Thanks again 😍😍
11:54 how to tell a customer who tells me to use all and only her supplies but it takes much longer not having my supplies? Like a carpenter without his tools
I understand your perspective, but open communication with the client is key. You could respectfully explain that while you're happy to use her supplies if requested, having access to your professional tools and products allows you to work more efficiently, providing better service. Hope you can reach a compromise👍
There was one day at work we had a plumber there and he was getting paid after fixing a shower valve that the previous plumber had forgotten to put one small gasket in. I overheard the plant manager criticizing the plumber for charging so much for such a small repair. I then heard the plumber say "well if you always want the lowest price you get what the last guy did to you, but if you want it done right you call me". The manager was speechless and just replied "here's your check I'm sure we'll have more work for you again in the future"
I need to work on bettering my posture! I can communicate well but I'm always moving around, looking away from the prospect. Thanks so much for this video.
Do not be flexible with your prices. People think cleaning is at the bottom of the totem pole, when in reality, we should be top priority! Cleaning supplies have doubled, as well as equipment cost, and gas to get to our customers houses, and facilities. Cleaning companies need to come together and have similar prices actually. Where Im from there are cleaning companies charging $1500 a month for a commercial property, cleaning 5 days a week! No company can survive, charging like that, and then the company starts looking for new cleaners, but want to pay the same $1500, when they didn't perform as well. They didn't perform well because later they found they were cutting themselves short. Stop being so cheap, and make everyone pay for quality work! I am so OCD, that my clients can literally eat off the floor when Im finished, so I know what I'm worth. I also do not charge by the hour but by the job! So have confidence in yourself and if someone has a problem with your price, that is not the customer for you. Don't be willing to just work for anyone, but work for ppl who have integrity, and are not trying to beat you out of anything.
We do not. That will fall under the category of commercial cleaning. I have a really good friend in the commercial cleaning space who can help you savvycleaner.com/docs/commercial-cleaning-get-help/
Excellent information as well as professionally presented! I can't thank you enough for all the hard work you put into this video. I'm hooked and look forward to seeing your next post! 💕💕💕
I wish there were a really comprehensive cleaning estimate calculator that I could use on my tablet as I'm doing a walk-through. I have looked at so many and some of them are so basic.😓
I never thought about asking for the sale, because they are always asking me how soon can you do it. I would say if you don't hear that statement, even if you are new..... let them know that you have a couple of available spots in your week, do they prefer morning or afternoon cleans and do they like the first part of the week or the end of the week.
Good advice. I won't be cleaning anyone else's house but it would also help someone who is calling to have someone who is calling someone to clean your own house. I wish I could afford it. LOL. Thank you for all your cleaning tips it will be a huge help for this old old lady to clean her own home.

Hello Angela first and foremost I want to Thank you for all your great advice! I booked a cleaning job at a set price that now I’m realizing is definitely too low for all the work I’m doing. I set it low because she promised me she had friends and family that could use my services but after 8 months she has yet to produce those customers for me. I want to ask her for a raise but I’m not sure how to go about it, can you please give me some advise on what to do about this without causing friction between us?
Hi Tracy, I'm going to make you a video about this. The short version is this - the customers that promise this rarely produce the leads. And if they do, they are usually discount customers because they were trained by their friend how to get you down on price. And second, if you need to restructure your deal with your client - then now is the time, rather than a few years down the road. Fighting to keep a discount customer is not in the best interest of your business.
Just a thought... I would not "ask for a raise " because that means in your mind you see them as having authority over you as a boss when actually they are a client. For example my massage therapist doesn't as me for a raise on his price, he simply states at the desk with a sign that rates will increase to $XX on a certain date as an official notice to all clients. That's how you handle your own business rate increase. With increase cost of living, etc and insurance.
Hi Ana, that's right around the going rate for cleaning services nationally. However, it varies depending on your zip code. If you want a better idea, I'd do a quick Google search to figure out what other cleaners in your area are charging. You know your own worth at the end of the day! Keep it up, I'm rooting for you. 🙌
Hello Angela! I have owned our carpet and home and office cleaning business for 2 and a half years. We bought into a franchise (janpro) and had nothing but money issues. We finally got rid of all the jobs through them and now been doing only home cleaning. It's been hard bidding. I feel like I always low ball everything. And they expect you to change prices because I'm the boss. What should I do
I’m sorry you are having trouble bidding jobs. Are you doing walkthroughs and using a worksheet? You are welcome to use my worksheet: askahousecleaner.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/SavvyCleaner.com-house-cleaning-worksheets-page-1.jpg
How many people? How many pets? Is the living room, family room, dining room used daily? Are all of the bedrooms active (people sleep in them each night?) And are all of the bathrooms used daily? Does the house have one kitchen or two? How many common areas (hallways, stairway, entries, laundry room. mudroom. And what part of the country do you live in? It's hard to spout off a price without knowing what we are talking about. Your range depending on the variables if the house is tidied up could be between $220 to $480 per clean.
I enjoy your special, but I need to know how soon 🔜 you can come over and do a pretend walk-through for me to learn how to find the highpoint areas to focus on
I went to a house and they lady told me her cleaner is dropping people soon she didn’t have an answer to when so I told her when you figure out when you want me to come give me a call and I’ll come. But I’m left so confused because it was my first estimate. Should I give a follow up call to her at some point??? I really want her business
Is there a way you can bid jobs online without seeing the home? I saw a cleaning service that allowed the customer to book online based on their needs (bedrooms, powder rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc if they need any add on etc). It’s like they totally removed the in person bid process, which I would prefer. Is this okay to do? What’s your take on it?
Online bidding software a great tool to have on your website. However, you still must go and see the house before you can give a prospective client a definite price. 🤗
+junbug2616 pricing includes a lot of considerations. A conversation with your wife may help clarify both of your goals and costs that you need to cover to stay profitable. Keep me posted, I am here rooting for you. 👍

6:50 Bid / checklist 10:50 Ask for the sale; "I would love to be your house cleaner, when do I start? I have an opening on Saturday morning at 10am, is that soon enough for you?"
Any good reputable insurance company can put together a general liability policy with a bonding rider. We've used Nationwide for years and they do monthly premium installments rather than annually.
Angela Brown whenever a client of ours has pets we typically end up moving small furniture around because the hair slides in areas that aren't always accessible with the vacuum hose... I rarely use the broom for these circumstances because the hair just flies from one place to the other. I typically charge 20.00 pet pet.
I have the same problem with one of my client. They have two Labradoodles. So much of that hair gathers around in the roller in my vacuum cleaner. Believe me those dogs do have hair.
I have a client that has two Labradoodles. Their hair yeah there's a round in the beater bar of my vacuum cleaner. Don't let anyone tell you that they don't have any hair that sheds.
I clean my first house Monday and I'm super nervous. What would you suggest cleaning white cupboards with? Looks like he's got them all over house and his sink looks like bronze, are there special cleaners I need to use for both mentioned? Other then that think I got it.
Hi Danijela. Congratulations on your new account. I'm super excited for you. It sounds like since it is the first clean with the customer we are talking about a deep clean. When cleaning any surface you want to make sure you are using the proper cleaner for the type of surface you are cleaning. Are the cabinets wood? Engineered wood? Semi-gloss paint? If so, what condition are they in? Semi clean or greasy and sticky? It would be irresponsible for me to just give you the name of a product without knowing the surface type. If you are not sure, stick with a neutral all-purpose cleaner with a pH between 6-8. That will keep you out of trouble for the most part. And for the bronze, unless you've had a conversation with the customer - use only a damp cloth to clean it. Some customers have real bronze faucets and others have painted bronze. Using a bronze cleaner on a painted faucet will eat right through the paint and you'll end up replacing it. Note: check out the training at savvycleaner.com/calendar-of-courses there are courses on how to set up your business but also chemical safety, cleaning supplies, pH balances, safety data sheets, pictograms, all the stuff you need to survive and thrive in a cleaning business.
thank you so much for the video presentation which is definitely a good guide for starters in this biz. By the way, could I ask you about how to be bonded would be for my housecleaning job would take and is that the same as insurance Angela? where and how would I get it? thanks a lot
Iv been cleaning 6 plus rooms homes and I’m running into a problem with people wanting me to deep clean the entire house with cat hairs all over included in 3 hours by myself :(
Another great and informative video!! I have a question....if I am the owner of a house cleaning business and I am not doing cleanings 100% of the time do I conduct the walkthrough solo or should I bring a cleaner during bid-estimate? I'm used to doing solo walkthroughs in offices etc.
If you have the ability to bring a cleaner with you I recommend doing it. The quicker they learn what you know about doing the walkthrough the quicker they can do the walkthroughs for you so you don't physically have to be there. It's advantageous to have the same person who is going to be doing the cleaning do the walkthrough so the homeowner can meet them, get comfortable with them, and so that everybody is playing from the same worksheet. Often things will be promised during the walkthrough that is not communicated on the work order - and the cleaner feels bamboozled because their boss and the homeowner are communicating different expectations.
Hi Angela , I want to start to clean complex (residential buildings) I only have to clean the halls, map, clean the laundry area in every building and take the trash , I don't know how much chart, can be for every hour or for building or for floor ect please help
my friend's husband just got a job being a manager property manager and they need a cleaning service but I have to put a bid in and I never did entire apartment complex before so I don't want to lowball or charge too high since my residential rates are different
Here is a video on bidding apartment complexes: ua-cam.com/video/3YgPQ2cLUfo/v-deo.html I suggest calling several insurance companies to get quotes. Good luck! 🤗
Hi Nora, there are quite a few variables that go into bidding a job. 2 x per week suggests there are kids or pets or some other reason to clean the house - unless they are adding daily chores into your weekly cleaning. Angela! I swear I wish I could clone you lol Ok, maybe that was weird ! But seriously You are so cool and knowledgable! Hey! quick question..how to bid on jobs on thumbtack? I know the bid price may be different from the actual price but I dont want the customer to think I am highballing them or something. Im really struggling with this
Thank you for your awesome answer! I recently updated my profile on Thumbtack and bidded a job hourly, with an minimum of 4 hours, I was hired!! The lady is single with a 2 year old child, just moved here from England. We meet on Monday to do a walk through. I'm so excited!.Because I am so new to this, i'm proceeding with caution at every step. Don't know why i'm babbling, I just feel like you videos and e books have helped me so much!
Why do you say to not tell the client it's you first time cleaning as a business? I am a believer in the truth. I would say I have been cleaning for other companies most of my life. But this is the first time as "my business"
Many new house cleaners have not been cleaning for other companies most of their lives. They are new to cleaning. The point is to build confidence through the experience they do have that transfers over that makes them a good fit for the job. It's not about being dishonest, it's about highlighting your best qualities. It's like going on a first date - you don't want to mention that you've never dated before and don't know what to do next. That just opens a can of worms that encourages others to take advantage of you.

Thanks for watching. :-)
I'm so nervous when I talk to a customer, but I know I'll get better at it....ugh
You’ll be a pro before you know it. I’m routing for you! 🤗 ❤️
what about biding on apt building 1000 units
4800 square ft house. 5 bedrooms 4 baths bi weekly clean. About how much would you charge?
How many people? How many pets? Is the living room, family room, dining room used daily? Are all of the bedrooms active (people sleep in them each night?) And are all of the bathrooms used daily? Does the house have one kitchen or two? How many common areas (hallways, stairway, entries, laundry room. mudroom. And what part of the country do you live in? It's hard to spout off a price without knowing what we are talking about. Your range depending on the variables if the house is tidied up could be between $220 to $480 per clean.
Angela is an Angel!
I enjoy your special, but I need to know how soon 🔜 you can come over and do a pretend walk-through for me to learn how to find the highpoint areas to focus on
I'm on my way over now. 😀
I had $20-$25 for basic house cleaning I was told that’s too high .
So you are charging per hour?
Thank you for boosting up my confidence
I appreciate you taking the time to write me such a nice comment : )
Oh you are good I really enjoyed your video, thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to write me this nice comment. I appreciate it!
I went to a house and they lady told me her cleaner is dropping people soon she didn’t have an answer to when so I told her when you figure out when you want me to come give me a call and I’ll come. But I’m left so confused because it was my first estimate. Should I give a follow up call to her at some point??? I really want her business
It can’t hurt to call!
How long do you do basic cleaning 3-4 hours per home ??
It depends on the house size, number of rooms and how dirty it is.
Oh my God you are so helpful
Great advice, as always.
I appreciate you watching the show and leaving a comment. 👍
We love you!!
Aww...thank you so much for your kind words!! 😊💕
my wife bid a job this week and over priced it which sucks because she doesn't understand why we could have lost a potential client
+junbug2616 pricing includes a lot of considerations. A conversation with your wife may help clarify both of your goals and costs that you need to cover to stay profitable. Keep me posted, I am here rooting for you. 👍
Hey there...i didn't know u had a UA-cam channel. We're Facebook Friends.. great info.. Thank You

6:50 Bid / checklist
10:50 Ask for the sale;
"I would love to be your house cleaner, when do I start? I have an opening on Saturday morning at 10am, is that soon enough for you?"
Great...you got this!
@@AskAngelaBrown aw thank you!!! You are amazing
what insurance company do you recommend for a cleaning business?
Any good reputable insurance company can put together a general liability policy with a bonding rider. We've used Nationwide for years and they do monthly premium installments rather than annually.
Very Helpful 👍
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
Do you charge extra for pets? I notice that the hair causes me alot of extra cleaning of my vac afterwards.
Yes, this should be taken into consideration and when you do the walkthrough ask how many pets.
very useful, thank you my master!
LOL. Thanks for watching and taking the time to reach out. I am so glad you're here. :-)
This is extremely helpful...thank you😄😄
thank you so much for the video presentation which is definitely a good guide for starters in this biz. By the way, could I ask you about how to be bonded would be for my housecleaning job would take and is that the same as insurance Angela? where and how would I get it? thanks a lot
Contact your insurance company for quotes. Here is a video on insurance and bonding: ua-cam.com/video/tutviTeViQo/v-deo.html
🤗
Thank you so much for these videos!
Iv been cleaning 6 plus rooms homes and I’m running into a problem with people wanting me to deep clean the entire house with cat hairs all over included in 3 hours by myself :(
So you are already cleaning their house but have never done a deep clean of their house?
@@AskAngelaBrown thank you for your feedback. I am enjoying your channel. Loving all your content. I am going to check out your site next!! 😊
What does it mean to “bid”?
To give a job quote. You are bidding against other companies the homeowner may have received quotes from.
Awesome information !
How do you know how much to bid?
Mia, Here is a playlist of videos that deal with bidding and pricing: ua-cam.com/play/PLh1fKdNH3piTmOH6a-XTQfIOB4o063XZz.html

Good stuff,thanks angela
Thank you for watching my video, I appreciate it : )
1st house ever.. idk what to charge.. 2300 sq ft all sweep 2xs per week.. mop 1x per week plus general cleaning .. helps
Hi Nora, there are quite a few variables that go into bidding a job. 2 x per week suggests there are kids or pets or some other reason to clean the house - unless they are adding daily chores into your weekly cleaning. What type of cleaning are you doing? If you are cleaning for a living come over to Savvy Cleaner. We have courses on pricing, worksheets, maintenance vs. deep cleaning, bidding jobs, how to ace a walkthrough and more. savvycleaner.com
Thanks a lot!😘

As long as you asked, "What is that," about the $4 lady, I'll venture an answer. She was Cheap and Difficult, with greater emphasis on the latter.

A Cleaner Place
Yes, a cleaner place. Thank you. :-)
👍
You are also hilarious 😂😂😂
😆 Thank you!
