    Wow this is so professional, sharp edges. Your buttercream frosting is very smooth. How can I achieve it when making the frosting?

      Thank you I’m really glad you liked it! You can find all my buttercream recipes on my channel, for this cake I used my Swiss meringue buttercream recipe. The trick in achieving a smooth buttercream would be to use room temperature buttercream and when you prepare it, mix it on the lowest setting for 5 to 10 minutes to eliminate air bubbles!

    I hope this isn't a dumb question but what's a crumb coat? What do you use to make a crumb coat? I'm a beginner cake Baker and I'm lost please help

    • @ButtercutBakery
      @ButtercutBakery  4 роки тому

      Not a dumb question at all!! A crumb coat is the first coat you cover the cake in, it’s a thin buttercream coat to help lock the crumbs of the cake so that these crumbs don’t ruin the second coat. So when applying a crumb coat and chilling the cake, the final buttercream coat with be crumbs free and clean! Hope this helps x

    When I decorate the cake before the buttercream is not soft it hardens a bit. How can I avoid that?

    • @ButtercutBakery
      @ButtercutBakery  4 роки тому +1

      If i bake my cakes a day before decoration i make sure to wrap the cakes in plastic wrap and i leave them at room temperature. As for the buttercream, i always make sure my butter is at room temperature, decorating with cold buttercream tears the cake up and is very hard to work with.
      You can check out the buttercream recipes and techniques I use, they’re listed on my channel!
