Just received the 11 ft Pellet Waggler rod, once again just like the 9 ft carp feeder rod the looks are great and the feel is very good! You are talking in your review about the crisp that the rod has, well the same still goes for the 11 ft Pellet Waggler. Thanks again for your honest review that helped me to buy these rods!
Another fantastic review Paul, as I’m only just starting up fishing again that rod will be right up my alley. A good rod without breaking the bank. I’ve a lot of tackle to buy. Keep up the good work. 👏
For the past five years or so I've been using a second hand 10' Carbonactive Mini Carp Feeder Rod. Seeing Paul's positive review on the 9' Nytro Impax I thought I'd give one a go particularly as it appeared to be very good value for money!! I fished with it for the first time on Wednesday using a Preston 20g ICS In-line Banjo XR Feeder filled with 2mm pellets and a 6mm banded pellet on the hook (at no more than 30m). I can say I felt able to cast more accurately than with the Carbonactive. I caught a mixture of fish: Ide, skimmers, F1's and mirrors to 3-4lb. Rod handled everything well. At a cost of only £40.00 I'm very pleased I went ahead with the purchase!! NB Angling Direct list the casting weight of the 9' as 40g - it isn't, the rod is marked 30g. It isn't an issue for me given the relatively short distance I cast.
Thank you for pointing out the error on the casting wait. That is actually rather annoying , as I bought the Impax 9ft ahead of the NTR 9ft based on the fact that the Impax was listed as 40g casting weight, compared to 30g on the NTR. And of course I have just loaded up with new 30g feeders. Ho hum. Still a nice rod for the money.
I have the 9ft impax carp feeder rod and i have to say it is a beautiful rod to use ...it feels like big fish u have on are not getting away or snapping your rod.....its one of the best rods I have used
I am looking at trying the Nytro Aryzon 10ft feeder. So far none of my local tackle shops stock them. I did get an Aryzon 10ft pellet waggler rod and that is really good for the money. The blanks, rings and handles are better quality than I expected. Reel seats are basic but work fine. The pellet waggler is surprisingly quite powerful for it's weight, and I am hoping the feeder rods are the same.
@@paulstacklereviews1695 I got the 10ft Aryzon feeder rod. It is basically the same rod as a Daiwa Nzon slim 10ft feeder rod. There is literally nothing between them other than the Daiwa has a more robust reel seat. Both rods are the same price at Angling direct.
What a great preview Paul. Interestingly I have a pair of 7ft Wanzee's and have to say that I fish most venues with these if they are max 25 meters wide. I have had fish to 13Lbs on them with no problems. I have to say that you have kindled some interest in me getting a pair of these Nytro's. Cheers.
Damm ive been looking for a new rod and ended up buying a garbolino picker which has turned out to be way too soft n tippy 😩 Will av to take a look at getting a nytro instead now 😆
Hey Paul, great review! I'm curious on your option, can this rod handle bigger fish? The average carp that I'm catching on the lake I fish the most are between 1kg and 5 kg, but there are some really big ones out there (20+). Can this rod handle those ones?
It could handle them, but I’d say it’s a rod designed for carp up to 10lb (5kg), above that I think there would be better options (probably longer rods).
Very good review as always, the only thing that worries me about short rods is when you’re about to land the fish and it gets under the platform and breaks you (platforms stick out about 3ft on venues where I fish)thanks vic
Similar at my club water, that’s why a soft rod can be difficult, with this rod there is power further down to provide more control at netting and stop the fish running. The issue you raised was one of the problems I had with the 7ft wandzee.
Thanks for the good feedback. The carp were caught at Stroud Angling club water in Uley near Dursley, the skimmers were Burley Fields lake in Leckhampton (£6 day ticket) near Cheltenham.
Just sold my Drennan Acolyte 9ft plus feeder rod. Like you, I never quite got along with it. It is definitely not a method feeder rod. Too many times the tip would go round but the fish wasn't hooked. Would you say the 9ft Nytro rods are beefier than the Acolyte?
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 no, the Acolyte plus was stiffer, which is why I also got rid as it was only a big fish rod in my opinion, I kept pulling out of skimmers and smaller carp. That doesn’t mean the Nytro is soft.
@@paulstacklereviews1695 Maybe it is because Drennan used very stiff 40T carbon on the Acolyte. Nytro use 30T carbon on the Solus and Aryzon rods. They use 24T carbon on the Impax.
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 you may be right, it just doesn’t work as well in a short rod, I have an Acolyte 11ft plus feeder that is a joy to fish with for all sized fish.
@@paulstacklereviews1695 Spot on Paul. I just do not think that shorter rods offer anything more. They say it is easier to land fish. In practice it is not much of an advantage. One major drawback that anglers do not think of, is the shorter casting arc of a shorter rod. If you are using the spool clip. You get less turns back on the spool after hitting the clip with a shorter rod. I lost quite a few fish when they ran to the clip and the line broke. A few more turns of line back on the spool can make a lot of difference to getting big fish in the net.
Another great video Paul, just a couple of questions Paul . 1 do you know the diameter of quiver tips base and 2 what is that seat / stool you are using, it looks nice and light. Thanks Dave
It’s says on the tip that the diameter is 2.5mm. My lightweight box is a MAP H30 frame with a shallow side drawer only and a Seatbox uk padded seat. I also have non extending 30mm Preston Legs, I think it’s around 7kg including the contents of the shallow tray.
@@paulstacklereviews1695 Thanks Paul for your reply. Will have to have a look at that seatbox/stool ,very light , is the padded seat an extra you purchased and do you know if you can fit a footplate. Apologies for so many questions .Regards Dave
I bought the full MAP H30 box including footplate and extending legs then adapted it. I’ve done a video on that box on my channel and also done a video on the Seatbox UK seat I bought to replace the one that came with the H30 box. If you’re looking for a cheap lightweight box look at my video on the Westlake box, an even lighter set up with a side drawer.
Just received my 9ft Nytro Impax rod. Looks great, cant believe how light it is and feels very good quality considering the price. Just put a 4000, 3000 and a 2500 size reel on it to see what feels best. I am actually thinking the 2500 size reel feels better, the weight feels perfect. What size reel are people currently using on them?
Great video and I agree with you about the Preston 10ft Supera, I also have a 9ft version, what a rod! These Nitro rods however actually look pretty decent for the money and appear much better quality than the Preston Ignition equivalent. One observation (I could be wrong due to the camara angle) but when playing the fish you appear to be pinching the rod between your thumb and index finger rather than actually wrapping your right hand fingers around the reel seat area, any reason for this?
Thanks for the good feedback. When I’m fishing for skimmers in particular (and other smaller fish) I don’t tend to hold the rod tight to allow a bit more play when the fish surge to reduce hook pulls. For carp I do hold the rod using my whole hand and let the clutch take the strain. It is funny when you video yourself, you see things you didn’t know you were doing!
Hi Paul great review, LOVE your comparison on rods... Which Supera did you have which you rate? I know there are SL Super lights? I am looking at buying a second hand one.. Txs Tony
Thanks. I have the original Supera 10ft and a Supera x 9ft (there are videos on both). They are truly superb rods that I love using. That said the Nytro Impax isn’t that far behind them, spending a lot more only brings marginal improvements in performance. I haven’t seen the SL version, I have a Matrix XS slim which is a similar action.
Nice little look at the Impax but the thing that interests me more is how are you getting on with the Aero XR does it do everything we come to expect from Shimano? I am disappointed they only come with single handle.
I am very very pleased with the Aero xr, not had any issues with it, clutch is as good as I’ve used. Ive stopped looking at reels (for now!). I think it’s very competitively priced. I’ve used double handles in the past but prefer a single now, the arm is longer with a single so gives more cranking power.
@@paulstacklereviews1695 l have two 5000 XRs and a 4000 and l can't believe the quality but as l say l would have liked a double handle option.
