They're not that far from you age wise. All of them except Mario is over 40, and Jean-Michel turns 45 this year. I'm 49 btw. It's funny how the musical brickwall between the generations has crumbled. When I was young, no one that I knew of my parents age listened to the heavier music of the day. Metal was the music of the young. Today, people of all generations listen to the same music.

So even if you had your phone there you don't really use it at all. Going there is really life changing experience.
@@truedarklander, OP metions a >big moshpit on the pre-concert intro , so Im calling it out. Also there's no 'big moshpits' on woodstock (at least in poland), 'cause it's fucking woodstock, a non-metal commercial fest
It is not that much about the nationality as about the fest itself. It's Polish Woodstock festival. However, they had to change the name of the fest last year. It is the biggest open air free festival, no tickets, hence so many people. And it actually doesn't matter if it is metal or reggae concert. There is no other place like that in the whole country, it is an enclave of real freedom. This is our sacred place and we celebrate each concert there that way. We warmly invite you to come and be happy with this extraordinary community we have there. The fest takes place on the Polish-German border on the first weekend of August. If Gojira wins the Golden Spinning award in the voting of Woodstock fans, they should come again to receive the award. This is how it usually works with Woodstock. However, big foreign bands rarely come for the award.
I agree, dude. People were saying the constant touring lately seems to have taken a bit of a toll on his voice. Maybe true and he toned it down in some parts and didn’t scream, but it’s almost like it became better! This version of L’enfant Sauvage with less screaming almost has like a different dimension to it and it’s so fucking good. How can a singer be toning it down and still be incredible, if not better?!
They must have spent a lot of money on this sound production from recording to mixing And all for a You tube free upload That's taking it seriously I have a lot of friends who after hearing bad live mixes conclude a certain band is crap which is ridiculous but I guess that's how 80% of human minds work. Its so much about production People don't even understand
The concert itself was free as well mate, they came to Poland from France to perform for this audience and it was just amazing, the band sounded live as good as on this video, most of the mixing done here is reducing the sound of the crowd cheers.
mmm, man, if a band cant do it live, its obviously they needed overproduction in the studio, this is not the case, gojira plays the same as they did on studio, but you can measure the quality of band by hearing them on live perfomances

I was in the crowd that day. Didn't know Gojira before and it was pretty spontaneous. After like 10 minutes I realized that they were actually pretty good and the show just keeped getting better. Together with the overall atmosphere and the crowd I would say that this was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The entire festival has an atmosphere that you don't see that much nowadays. Barely any phones at all and everybody is just living the moment. Definitely worth the 450 km car drive.
To the people complaining about the wall of death - this is not typical metal music festival like wacken or download where you can assume the most people will know gojira's songs. It's more like roskilde or glastonbury, a lot of rock, punk, folk, etc. Taking that into consideration, it all went pretty well I think.
The fact that the wall of death started forming by its own meant they clearly knew what song it was, on top of knowing that they do wall of deaths at that part of the song. -1 points to Poland.

I have a feeling Gojira's next album is gonna be even more "rock" and "clean" sounding than Magma. Not to offend any purist fans, but I see a lot of similarities between Gojira and Bring Me The Horizon. Sempiternal / L'Enfant Sauvage were the the first albums to display a new direction in the music and then they build upon that sound with That's The Spirit / Magma. The next step for BMTH was Amo in which they ultimately let go of their old sound. Even though Gojira will probably always be about crazy atmospheric grooves, I have a feeling on the next album they're fully done with the death metal roots, like BMTH let go of their deathcore-ish roots.
I'm 40 years old, saw many Pantera concerts in my early Late teens, early 20's when they were in their prime...just as Trendkill was coming out (was their best time imo)...This is the only band out right now that can compare to that type of brutalness of live metal. Blood brothers that play guitar and drums together are on a whole different level
If you get the opportunity, do watch them live. I have seen them once when they came to my country and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. It's like you are experiencing something for the first time, the music is loud and brutal but yet melodic and gives you a spiritual experience.

There are mainly Polish bands but if not interested in these you can also find some great recordings of stuff like Sabaton or Skindred from back when the festival was named Woodstock Poland.

RESPECT for polish people, AMAZING how they live metal music. I bet Gojira members will remember this concert forever.
No doubt. That had to be their biggest to date.
Yeah, we're kinda hyper people at the concerts, however no comparison with Japan or South America, for instance. These folks there are maaad!

Holy shit. This is one of the best recorded live performances I have ever seen. Like the production value is off the charts, not to mention Gojira’s absolutely stellar performance itself. Brilliant stuff. Deserves more views.
Pol'and'rock crew is very good at recording concerts, also the sound quality/mix live is one of the best I've heard and you can hear everything clearly even from afar. If bands allow they upload these recordings to their official youtube ua-cam.com/users/Owsiaknet, or like in this case the bands upload themselves. There are mainly Polish bands but if not interested in these you can also find some great recordings of stuff like Sabaton or Skindred from back when the festival was named Woodstock Poland.
yes totally agree. I've been binge watching hard rock concerts and unfortunately about a 3rd of them the singer is way off and the band is way off. These dudes start fucking spot on and keep it 100% solid the whole concert. The Cell is suck a badass groove!
@@nondorian its been mixed by a swiss guy, not the pol'and'rock staff and i doubt anyone else than Gojira sound engineer did the live mix.
@@lo2740 it's indeed mentionned at the end of the video : Mixed by Raphaël Bovey at MyRoom Studio
I’ve been listening to metal for decades now. This is one of the best metal performances ever. Full stop.
watch their " flesh alive "dvd
@@paulatreides1354 will do!
@@chadr2843 sorry to spam , of their live at brixton academy , eurockeenes 2009 , link alive 2003 , ,helfest 2013 ,enjoy
A 2018 show with no mobile phones in sight! No wonder the crowd had such a great time and everyone was so energetic and excited! Such an amazing show!!
I sat in dead silence after watching this....realizing that I just witnessed one of the (if not thee) greatest concert videos ever! This was extremely enjoyable! They played and roared like hungry lions! Thank you Gojira!
For all of you, who don't understand polish, crowd shouting "NAPIERDALAĆ!!!" Mean something like "hit it hard" and Gojira made it:)
As an American expat in Krakow, this is quite useful to me. Dziękuję.
I actually came to the comment section to see if someone knew what they were screaming! thanks! :D
Cool. Thanks for explaining that.
Its also quite a vulgar word. More like „fucking blow it away”
Dracones Moskon I think you are the stupid one here, just for assuming they would have wanted Gojira to understand them. Thats obviously not the point. Polish metalheads use their shouts a lot and its just as common here as „heyyyy-hooooo” on edm concerts
whoever did the mixing deserves a raise
I've seen them 4 times now, and they alwys have incredible sound, and it just keeps growing more awesome to experience, it will blow your mind
Best crowd of 2018!
