I can't help but laugh, I counted 22 boxes on your deck just for squarebills 😂 Matt, you NEED to do a tackle tour of all of your gear - it would make my wife realize I don't have an addiction!
i second this. i would love to see all the gear and tackle you have, even the stuff you have that you dont or havent used yet.
@@tagg946 I third this. We need a Cribs type of episode where you show us the vault!
Please do this. My wife thinks I have a ton of stuff too. I only have like 12-15 bass rods. Maybe the same with crappie rods too, and only got like 8 cat fishing poles, a couple ocean rods, and 2 fly fishing combos. That’s not that much, right?
@@22mpb I thought i was bad having right at 30 baitcasting combos and even built my own bait wall in the garage!! I love bass fishing though what can i say!!
You missed the other 5 boxes behind him for a total of 27 lol. Good stuff!
Matt….the only guy that is “passionate” about almost every category of tackle that exist. And the funny thing about it, I believe him. 😂
The full length tactical bassin feature film we've all been waiting for
Oh man this video is going to hurt lol I have a square bill addiction 😂 my wife is going to kill me
Just wait until u have a plastic bill surgically implanted in your forehead like me...that's when u are truly an addict
Love the wife is gonna kill you that’s hilarious that’s all of us 😂😂
I think everyone is missing TB’s best trick….their wives fish. Mine does too, so when I get 4 lures in the mail as long as she gets one…I’m good.
It could be worse. My addiction is large glide baits and swimbaits, you can imagine the anger in my wifes voice when I order lures. "$1,000 for 3 fishing lures? Wtf is wrong with you" 😂
@@rhodesianhunter9360 I'm only joking my wife fishes too and she's pretty understanding lol. I always tell her I could be buying booze, cigarettes, or drugs. Of which I do none
Matt, this is why TB is the best channel out there! You put in a lot of time and effort to make this one! Heck, this vid could be your Mon/wedn/fri all rolled into one. Great job and insight!!
Brother when you have a passion strong as yours truly helps feed the addiction of knowledge that drives us awsome awsome job on this 1
Got the day off work but i cant fish today due to some appointments later so i might as well sit back and enjoy the episode with a nice hot morning coffee. It amazes me and probably most how you keep track of everything. Very well done video.
Matt, thanks so much for taking the time to explain all of this. This is a huge amount of info and has expanded my understanding of cranks!
Great information, as always. I learned a lot and I've been fishing my whole life. Great job.
Shallow cranking is one of my favorite ways to catch them! Stoked for this one!
Whoa 😮 I had to watch this in shifts starting early this morning and finishing after dinner. Well done my Matt. I’m digging these rabbit hole seminars 👍🏻
This is a freakin' great educational video. So glad to see it! Everybody needs refresher training, even if you think you know alot about the subject. Thanks so much. Do more of these
Finally the long awaited crankbait video
I’ve watched you and Tim’s videos for a long time and I saw a video last year/earlier this year talking about the Rocco and I had to pick a few up for myself. The hot copper green craw color is responsible for probably my best 30 minute stretch of fishing in my life. I’m talking fish after fish just crushing it. It was to the point where other boats close by stopped to asking what I was catching them on! It was awesome!
Just watched this. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! That's so much information! Thank you! Probably the best cranks video I've ever seen!
Thank you for taking the time to do the video and info on the baits in the description! Appreciate the time and effort! Happy New Year!
I have been waiting on this video for a long time absolutely can’t wait to watch!
Agreed!!! Me too!!!
Wow. Insane double rabbit hole session!!! Thanks Tim!!!
Wow!! This shows me how much there is to learn about bass fishing.
I LOOOVEEEE shallow crankbait fishing! You guys are legends in this technique, even Ben from The Hook Up Tackle referenced you in their recent video! Thank you for this, and I DEFINITELY co-sign the Scamps.
I have been waiting for this video for years!!!! Thank you!!!!! I would love to see a "high end" swimbait video, I love the affordable swimbait videos you guys do but seeing a production high end swimbait video would be so cool!
Thank you for this one Matt!!!🔥knew I'd hear BURN, BURN, BURN, PAUSE
Matt you are appreciated.
That was one heck of a video. Class was in session and I really appreciate your in-site! Hoping to grab a few of these to help my arsenal. Take care!
Matts’ Crankbait Madness should have been the title of the video hahahahahaha! 😂
I have been waiting for this video for sometime, GREAT video.
The best crankbait video I have see .Great information. Bassmd
What a video! Thanks for all of y’all’s time on this! Hugh category.
Absolutely love the deep dive videos.
Love the rabbit hole videos!! Thanks guys!
Well done matt, the video is an instant tactical bassin classic,
Another awesomely informative video!! Keep it up guys!!!!💪🏻🤙🏻
The "Norman Fat Boy" is my favorite compact fat bodied crankbaits to throw in the summer. Great video, thx!
This is one of them ones you gotta watch a couple times cuz you catch different stuff every time you listen to it!
Love it. Thanks, Matt!
Yes. Great video and I do too want to start throwing big swimbaits. I don't know what or how to use them but, I'll definitely give it a try. Also, yes, you can do more videos on big swimbaits, I need to learn. I watch you all the time.
Thanks Professor Matt!
Morning TB videos the best btw thas a good arsenal of crankbaits thanks for make a lot of us better fisherman's
Because of you I've increased the number of boxes of baits by 10 fold. I've also upped my landing percentages by the same, by using the right rods and hooks. I've gone down the rabbit hole just as bad because Ive run into the very situations you explain in your videos. There's also a good flatside I think you should look into, try the 6th sense 75x flat. Subtle knock, a slightly bigger size than most, but has accounted for more 6 to 7 pounders in late fall thru the spring. Keep being addicted to baits and bass. Your channel is awesome
The number of tackle boxes full of cranks on the deck of your boat is profound. What a video. Looking forward to the in-depth jerkbait session soon. Thanks for everything you guys do!
Haha I know right? I saw that and the 1:21 length... alright Matt, I'll get more coffee and clear my morning schedule!
Been waiting on this one. Square bill freak here!! Awesome information!
I only have one thing to say to that video. Incredible!
Thanks Matt!
It's funny. I was most excited to see Matt's opinion on round bend vs ewg out of this whole video😂😂 and line.
Throwing my bait. Blk back chartreuse. The best !
Great content! Keep it up!!!
YES!!!!!! LOL Great content and fun to watch.
I would pay for this class! Thanks for spreading the knowledge my man 👊
Finally bought some of these on the list last week of April 2024. Caught a trout on a ATV 1.0 in guacamole color within the 2nd cast. That afternoon got a sub-4 LMB on that Lucky Craft silent in MS American Shad. Followed up on the next cast with another LMB.
O no you didn’t …. You did not …. You did it …..an I could not be HAPPIER let’s go !!!!! Finally a full in depth everything covered love it great job havnt even watched it yet
Here in okc the water muddy but pressured, so one thing i learned from you is bold colors will get the bites so lc 1.5 is the deal here
The last crank bait fish that got off was a accidental 50 inch Musky! I got her to my Kayak 3 times and every time I stuck the net out she would dive The third time she pulled off love the vids and I’ve been around since 10000 subs
I really enjoy watching you and Tim and I watch you a couple times a day or for hours understanding your techniques. I am near the bass fishing with a trolling motor Kayak .
I fission two man-made reservoirs the deepest about 120 feet beautiful clear water. My problem is that I wander because you’re so far south and things like that that our best techniques are going to be different. Totally different although this morning I dropped a little meadow or fluke on the on my line and I got a bite first cast.
Yeah, Otter is a tackle genius. He is always tinkering and tweeking lures to build a better trap.
Yessss!
I’m pretty sure my mind just exploded 🤣🤣🤣
I think this is more technical then the swimbait seminars 🤣
great video, Matt. hope to see more full seminar videos in the future! soooo how many of these have dedicated boxes? 🤔
Talking about varying your retrieve I learned that from fishing from my kayak lol I would let go of the reel handle to adjust my rudder or something and then start cranking again and they would hammer it lol so I started to just work in pauses more often
I had really good luck last year with the Evergreen Flat Force in shad colors.
The JDM blitz series really has some good shallow cranks in it. The Rocco's catch everything.
Caught my first bass of the year a week ago, at a private lake, cloudy rainy day, with muddy water on a shallow water crank like that Bill Lewis ATB but smaller..mimicling a crawfish....
Thanks.
🤯 Cranking has always been my favorite way to fish, but i used to just grab a crankbait, say "that looks good so let's try it" and go fishing. I've never gone that deep into it, and never really knew why or how the shapes (or bill shape) played into it. I just thought this brand made this kind of shape with this kind of bill and that one made their own kind. I guess I'll have to pay more attention now that I'm more informed, and make better, smarter decisions
I use the St. Croix mojo bass glass 7'2 medium moderate paired up with a Shimano SLX MGL 70 spooled with 12lb flouro as my only cranking setup for the last 2 years and I almost NEVER loose a fish. Can definitely confirm that it the perfect cranking setup imo.
What gear ratio you run?
@@jordanrymer6294 7:0:1. Good all around speed. I use a 5:4:1 for deep diving cranks to get more "torque" since the longer bill creates more resistance.
I saw that Speed Trap box! 😁
Hey guys, smooth here. Welcome back to tacticalbassin.😂
This one stings, given I already have at least a half dozen boxes of squarebills packed to the brim, so now there’s a handful of new baits I wasn’t aware of that I’m probably gonna have to buy, specifically the Nishine (hope I spelled that right) baits. Specifically the strike king 1.5. My first ever 5 pounder came on that bait, I have so much confidence in it. And if you need one in a pinch Walmart Carries them which is nice lol. First higher end rod I ever got was a G Loomis IMX pro 843 CBR, that’s actually been my favorite squarebill rod for a long time now for the majority of my squarebills. I’ve been considering the flatside special though, something with a tiny bit more back bone in it would be nice
Can you do a pond guide by region?? Like what baits/lures to use for ponds in different regions.
Found that I like doing both a ewg and round bend set up on most of my cranks front hook ewg back hook round bend for those fish that like to just get a quick swipe at the bait
Damn! It’s a squaregasm!
Matt/Tim, thank you for the amazing and continuous information! My fishing partner and I are throwing tiny cranks on bait finesse smashing them. I’ve been swapping my hooks to ST36, but thinking I should be trying a “turned in” hook as I lose at least 1 in 4 I hook up with. Trying everything to make that 0 in 4! Anyone out there make a good #10 or #12 short shank turned in hook similar to the ST-35? I can’t seem to find them that small?
Matt side note, not a square bill but add the Bomber (discontinued) Model A 3F and 4F to your insane collection 👍👍
Im thinking about trying square bill Crank baits this year i used whacky rigs last year had alot of success on that so im still staying with that.i did catch a pickerel on a lipliss crankbait so I'm going to explore square bill this year but still use whacky rigs on one rood
time stamps on these info videos would be super helpful
I would love to see you do a video on finding fish without electronics on a highland reservoir in the south in the fall that is drawn down. No cover, no grass. Chunk rock bottom. Love to see you in north Arkansas.
I like how you and Tim are really mindful of the wind, boat waves, and occasional tornado alarm, ruining the video audio. Out of the past 6 years watching you guys, I don't think any of the outside disturbance has ever effect the audio quality. Besides that, I just bought $200 of squirebill cranks....thanks 😅
I have an all but I always go back to xcite
Great video as always. Looks alot like my home lake, Lake Cumberland. You mention changing split rings and never using snaps, do you think there is a difference between regular and oval for the line tie? Thank you and keep up the great work.
Matt, incredible, informative video! Will definitely order a few! But I was wondering you didn’t mention any suspending square Bills did not know if you actually used those or had any luck with them or not?
We need a tackle tour from this dude. 22 shallow crank boxes…
You guys should do a creek fishing video
All i can say is it's going to take me a while to process this 🤣. Think I'm just going to pick out some favourits . Garage wall's have run out of space already 🤪
Hey Matt, I know you get a ton of questions about shallow crank baits. Have you had a chance to try the Berkeley Frittside? It’s been a go-to bait for me for a couple years, but I haven’t tried many similar baits due to the overwhelming selection out there.
Great in-depth video, Matt! What’s your reason for using the size 70 MGL Curado over the 150 size Curado for shallow (0-6’) sqaurebills? Been watching for years! Thank you for sharing your passion of fishing with us
The smaller spool size (weight) of the 70 spool is more effective with small baits.
@@tacticalbassin Thank you for the reply!
@@tacticalbassin Does the higher IPT of the MGL 70 concern you with moving the lure too fast? I know you can always slow down, but that’s hard for me to do lol.
Love the video s !! Do u fish all ur Sq bills .on high speed reels ? Or do bigger or flat side slower ratio ?
Woohoo!
Awesome video..have yal done a spinnerbait video??
that alarm was the sound of my wallet crying
Bomber used to make a bd5 and 7 square the 5 was pretty good caught a boat load on them
I like the rapala og tiny
hey Matt, Not sure if you covered it but are you a fan of the rapala OG series? and why the circuit board lip instead of the regiular plastic?? thanks love you guys videos !
What tackle boxes are you using to store your cracks in? I like the ones with the yellow latches on it
Man I love crankin' squarebills! It's crankin' time! Haha. Great video Matt. Can you please let us know that moss green fluoro please as you did not have room for it. I want to see if I can even get it up here in Ontario, Canada yet. Thanks again!
That's Daiwa Samurai Hidden Fluorocarbon 👍🏼
@tacticalbassin Thanks for the super quick reply! I found it at one of the big tackle places just now and man it is super expensive at $24 to $34 before our awesome (NOT) tax for 220 yards. Lol. Hopefully it will go on sale for Black Friday. 🤞
Shallow cranks work great in the early spring in the Northeast. Fall though?
As someone who uses 99% shallow crankbaits, thank you!
29:31 my dude said these are ghosty colors... if you want something supernatural.... you can creepy crawl this thing haha. Happy Halloween right Pat?
Matt, just curious. Does the bill composition (plastic vs. circuit board) make a difference? I'm asking because I've heard the "circuit board" type last longer, while some else suggested, they run different.
Looking for a shallow crank that will pause in-place (or slow-float). I used to use the Spro Prime crank for this, but hoping to find a version that's bigger. Kind of a cross between crank and jerkbait.
Hey Matt,
What is the green fluorocarbon that you are talking about? I need this stuff!
Any suggestions for spinning rods for cranking?
@tacticalbassin On the Strike King 1.5 Could you run size 2 EWG Trebles in place of the long shank size 4’s it comes with ?
