I caught an 8+ pound smallmouth on the 6" magdraft ProBlue Chartreus. Smallies love it, Largies will follow it in clear water but not eat it. Largies will eat it when the water is mucked up a bit. We get wind driven currents that take silt off the shore and the stumps in that stuff get loaded with LM's that will eat that color in those conditions.

While not always ideal, as long as a rod can handle the weight of big baits....adjustments may need to be made, depending on the actions of the rod...if it's a heavy, stiff rod drag would need to be loosened & a line with more stretch would at least give u a chance to stay hooked up.....a heavy, stiff rod with braid & trebles is not a great idea....if it was me & I was just trying out a 6" swimbait with trebles...I'd throw 20lb.
